  1. Very strange looking at the March Railway Modeller and seeing no Hatton's adverts.
  2. Hi Peter, One issue unless I misunderstod it is that you do not deduct VAT for EU orders , so we will end paying additional VAT / Customs handling charges? Is this correct or are you registerd for VAT for orders to Ireland like Hatton's was? ( Not ment as a complaint, just a general query). Regards, John
  3. One of the best for on-line retail, what I liked most was that you could put items in your basket and straight away you would be able to see what the postage cost would be with a choice of shipping options. Most other model retailers you have to go through the check-out process to see what that postage will be and whether or not if VAT/customs is deducted or not. Definalty miss looking at the daily pre-owned listings.
  4. Don't mind ballasting myself, one of the aspects of layout building that I quite enjoy is wiring and ballasting. Its when it comes to doing the main scenic work that I tend to lose interest and want to start again! Having said that, my current layout(s) are more or less completed with scenery. 🙂
  5. Nowt wrong with the Lima 47's. I have a few of them, slowly working through the my 'fleet' adding extra pick-ups and wiring in 8-pin decoder sockets. Adding extra pick-ups even on the traction tyred wheels makes a huge differance and mine run at a nice crwal on speed step 1 in DCC mode. Will eventually add extra details over time.
  6. Was done in 2019 according to their Facebook page.
  7. Hatton's now have up to 50% off some of their remaining items for anyone interested.
  8. If that is the problem then Jenny Kirk done a usefull Youtube video on repariing this, Quite easy, but fidlly to do as I had to reapair my friends one.
  9. I have used this Polish shop a couple of times with good service. Not much railway related but have good range of modelling items. https://www.jadarhobby.pl/
  10. Whats yootooob? have they renamed like facebook to meta?
  11. This was the last item I purchased from Hatton's in November last year. It is currently in the works and will eventually emerge as 50039 in large logo livery. One thing I will miss is looking through the daily listings of pre-owned items, espessially for Lima bargins. Thank you Hatton's for the exellent service over the years. Will definatley be missed.
  12. 2007 was my last visit to the Warley show. Think I went there about 10 times from the mid 1990's.
  13. Well you have just been very lucky and got away with it. 😁. Nothing gets past Anpost (Irish postal service).
  14. Keeps crashing everytime I try to log into my account.
  15. Very sad news indeed. Disapointing for us modellers not living in the UK as they were very effiecent with thier service despite the hassle of 'Brexit'!! Also would like to say that Hatton's customer service was/is first class as when I have had any issues with orders they were sorted out very quickly. Like many of us who live 'overseas' they were indeed our 'Local' model shop.
  16. TT:120 has taken off very well with both exsiting modellers and new entrants to the hobby. A lot of the Hornby TT:120 products have sold out already, and it is popular in Mainland Europe with Tillig, Piko and now Roco. Yes would be nice for other manufactures to follow suit and I hope they will in due course.
  17. It does seem to be a problem across all social media platforms. What ever hobby or interest you have there often seems a be a minority who want to show of their latest all singing/dancing product including model railways. In relation to railway modelling there are some good youtubers who do really good genuine reviews and then you get an element who say you got to have the latest Bac/Horn/Hel/Acc or what ever and say older models are only fit for the skip/landfil. In relation to Youtube and faceache, I only ever watch or look at railway related stuff but get feeds/suggestions for total irrelavent non railway related junk too.
  18. This is the topic for buying and selling to/ europe, thats why I originally posted here and if you note the time my post was posted before the other thread started. Also it is in the model shop guide and this relevant thread has been going much longer for thouse of us who are affected/ interested in this subject.
  19. I do hope that is the case and we will get more information from Hatton's once its sorted. It is not 100% clear in the email if we are going to be liable for any charges/import duties in future, quote from email; "Please note that local customs duties and courier fees may still be charged, we are working on expanding this system to correctly cover landed fees in the future." Hopefully they will keep us updated with theese changes.

  21. Well, just out of curiosity, I did email Hornby and they replied almost instanty to my email. My email to Hornby, The runners-up are not listed on your competition website, so I am emailing just in case I am one of the runners up for the 5,000 hobby reward points. Just of note, the advent competitions are not as easy to find on the Hornby website as compared to previous years. Regards John And their reply, Hello John, This should be updated on our website now. We also emailed the winners already for the reward points competition on day 3 of our advent calendar. Competition Winners :: Hornby Hobbies Winners will be updated on here every day. 😊 Kindest regards, Noor Osman-Britton I did look and to be fair to Hornby the runners up are now listed, but I was not one of them lol..
  22. Maybe I should contact Hornby and claim 5000 points just incase I was a runner up. Lol. 😁
