  1. But at least smoke signals are backed up in the cloud. 🙊 Roddy
  2. IPA on an ear bud works to remove the paint on the windows. I just gently levered the glass out using a Stanley knife blade. Mine came out very easily with little pressure required. Regards Roddy
  3. No they weren't, and this is what happened. CDL should have been fitted.
  4. Whilst I may agree with the sentiment, the reality is that we older people grew up with no central door locking and therefore knew to keep away from the doors, especially since they might look closed and locked but in fact might open when leaned on. Younger people have grown up used to doors being fully secured when a train is moving and may not realise the risks attached to slam door carriages. All it takes is for a child to steady themselves on a not fully closed door for them to fall out of the coach when moving. Falling from a train may not be due to any irresponsible behavior by the victim. If everything that used to be okay should be allowed to continue, bring back blue asbestos! Roddy
  5. As was mine, a 1972 model. I still miss it as it was fun to drive, mind you, I fitted a Holbay engine and reworked the gearbox/overdrive and suspension. The sound that the twin Weber 40 DCOEs made was fantastic. Unfortunately, like most 70s cars, the tin worm did for it and it began to bend in the middle. I sold it to someone I knew who wanted the engine and gearbox for a rally car. Roddy
  6. You could probably even out the axle loading with careful positioning of the vehicles, assuming the overall weight limit/axle loading is not breached and there is sufficient room to position both vehicles as required. Roddy
  7. I think that this message means that the sender has chosen to use a non-tracked delivery method, such as normal second class or, often next day delivery. As the item is not tracked through RMs service and it is only when delivery is attempted that you get any information. I've had this on a number of occasions. Roddy
  8. Railtec do decals for the bolt holes on the brake discs for the class 68. Just search for "class 68" on their website. Roddy
  9. I hope that they will become available as an accessory. Accurascale's other magnetic couplings have been made available that way. Roddy
  10. I get this as well. It just seems to be an alternative to using your password to login, either method still seems to work. The verification code process seems to be automatically triggered by starting to enter your email address in the login page for the Accurascale website. I find using the verification code preferable, as it is quicker than having to lookup what password I am using. Roddy
  11. That is odd! I am sure that I saw mention that Hornby were going to bring out a new magnetic coupling for models in this era, it will be interesting to see if it is similar to Accurascale's for the chaldrons. Roddy
  12. Why not check with Hornby? Perhaps the couplers were accidentally missed from your pack. Roddy
  13. Sign up on the relevant item page and you will be notified when they become available. I think that this is done by request date so don't hang around. Roddy
  14. So was I. I remember the kick off was delayed and they had to move the private school kids from the benches at the foot of the terracing on to the grass so that they could make more space to fit everyone in. That was the last Murrayfield match where you could pay at the turnstile. At the time the crowd was estimated at more than 120k. I have never heard of any significant bad behaviour amongst rugby fans at Murrayfield. John Jeffries does not count as a fan for this recollection and the least said about the damage to the Calcutta Cup the better. Roddy
  15. Perhaps Rails simply wanted to stop anyone else buying and trading as Hattons? Roddy
  16. Copying and pasting "1/87 Ho Scale Train 50cm Track Model Accessories Train Treadmill Track Bearing Train Roller Test Stand With 8 Rollers Kids Gifts - AliExpress" into Google will take you to the right page. Note that I think you have to click on the right image to select which package you want. Roddy
  17. Wouldn't it be more realistic if the toilet paper was ejected from the bottom, along with some wet brown flock of course. Roddy 😁
  18. Come on Wales! Roddy
  19. Are there any significant differences between the two that would stop them doing so? Roddy
  20. I appreciate the point you are making but unless Hornby are going to produce TXS decoders/sounds to specifically fit other manufacturers models, they will be severely limiting the functionality of the HM7000 system. I would be loath to call the decoders in my Accurascale, Cavalex, Rapido etc. models "legacy decoders" until they have been superseded by something better, which has not happened to date. Hornby may wish to have all models fitted with TXS decoders but that is unlikely to happen, so why not make the best of the existing situation? I know that some members are assisting Hornby with the HM7000 project and I am hoping that this might be suggested as a potential development of existing soft/hardware. Best wishes Roddy
  21. I still think it would be a good idea for Hornby to combine the electronics from their elite controller and the dongle in a single package, excluding unnecessary items such as function buttons and speed controls, to allow non- TXS locomotives to be controlled from a tablet. This would be a lot cheaper for those entering DCC who want to use HM7000 technology with non-TXS decoders but who do not want to also have to go to the expense of purchasing a "traditional" controller, on which the actual controls would not really be necessary. This would not be an expensive project for Hornby, as the necessary electronics are already available in the existing dongle and elite, but would be a real benefit for those moving into DCC control. Roddy
  22. Most straight threaded screws, or bolts, now come in metric sizes, M1, M1.5, M2 etc., with the number being the diameter of the treaded section. To be honest, buying a pack like that suggested by Spamcan61 is the easiest solution as you can try and see which fit best. Some specialist bolts come in other sizes and threads per inch, but they are unlikely to be used in modern model railway items. Roddy
  23. Your not alone, I'm also waiting. Nearly everyone ordered these on the same day, 12 May 2022, as they sold out in only a few hours, if I remember correctly. The exceptions are those that were ordered recently when the balance were released. Accurascale are also sending out banana vans at the moment so despatch will presumably take longer than normal. Roddy
  24. I wonder if Hornby would consider bringing out a basic DCC 28 function "controller" which doesn't have any controls or function buttons but which could sit between the dongle and the track to allow the user to control DCC fitted models. This would suit people, like myself, who have DCC sound fitted models but have not yet got a DCC controller. Having seen how the Hornby system works at Glasgow, it seems so much more user friendly than other DCC control systems. Roddy
  25. I note that on the Accurascale website, the warwells which are "sold out" also have the message "more on the way". Does this mean that the currently sold out versions will become available for further pre-orders at some point? Thanks Roddy
