Just to make it clear, both the Edinburgh Tram (Line One) Act 2006 and the Edinburgh Tram (Line Two) Act 2006 were Acts of the Scottish Parliament. Whilst Messers Brown and Darling may have supported the tram project, it was the Scottish Parliament, not the UK Parliament which approved the construction of the tram network in Edinburgh. The major problem with any significant project in older towns and cities is the lack of accurate maps of what utilities and other structures actually exist under the areas covered by roads. In Edinburgh, substantially more work was required to reroute utilities and to remove obstructions, such as an air raid shelter in Princes Street, than was originally anticipated. Lessons were learned and the second stage of the Airport to Newhaven route was built mainly on time and to budget, including having to remove old graves which were under an existing road. I hope this information is helpful. Roddy

Class 37, by Accurascale
Roddy Angus replied to Accurascale Fran's topic in Accurascale / Irish Railway Models
Are both Class 37s likely to be on your layout at the same time? If not, can't they both be given the same number, assuming the function no. are the same? Roddy -

Would it be possible to build a magnet into the scenery at the entrance/exit to the fiddle yard so that the lights were turned off/on as the train was driven out or in? Roddy -
Is it really worth as much as you bought it for?

When selling plastic model kits on ebay, I noticed that bundling a kit together with separately available etched and resin enhancements rarely achieved a good selling price. I think that this was probably because those that wanted the enhancement parts already had the base kit and those that just wanted the kit didn't want to pay for the enhancement parts. Neither type of buyer wanted to pay for the bits they didn't want/need. My view is that you should always sell items individually to get the best price. Then buyers can bid for only what they need. A suggestion. A paper template, to scale, which shows the plates position in relation to grills, windows etc, which the modeller can cut out, including a hole for the plate, and lay on the side of the model. The plate can then be placed in the cut-out for the plate and positioning should be accurate, or as accurate as the modeller's cutting out and positioning on the model. Some may find this helpful. The easiest way to change the destination boards would be to remove the body, which you have already asked for advice on, and then simply push out the destination board from the inside of the body shell. The "hole" in the body shell can then be cleared of any old PVA glue by running a cocktail stick, or similar, round the ledge. The replacement destination boards can then be fitted using PVA again. Best wishes Roddy -

There was always the Humber pig. Did it have a real wood dashboard like other Humbers I wonder? Roddy I still miss my old Humber Sceptre, the most fun car I have ever had! -

The washing is to remove any residual mould release agent, which can cause problems when painting models. Washing up liquid is normally sufficient to remove any residue. To be honest, I have never bothered and haven't encountered any significant problems over the years. Roddy -

You could try flattening the mesh by clamping it between two flat surfaces and immersing it in warm to hot water. It might make attaching it easier. Roddy -

An option to choose Royal Mail 48 hour tracked would be great, even if it required an additional payment. Roddy
