As long as post stay within forum rules then anyone is free to comment I’m afraid. it all very strange, as I understand it DJ will accept new orders at the moment but potential customers are starved of information as its kept secret. i think these crowdfunding projects have pretty much killed model railway crowdfunding. Does DJ allow you to share what he’s said or are you not allowed ?

So 3 years after the project announcement we have a few CADS? Crunch time then if he wants second payments shortly.....

Everything you said I totally agree with, which leads me to another open question: Why after all those factual reasons, people will fall over themselves to stump up cash and shower support to DJ? if he was Dave from Burnley with zero to little experience in the field he wouldn’t have last 15 minutes before being run out of town. Is he riding the good name of his previous employer who at points has opening criticised and distanced himself from ? The same firm who have really upped their game since the departure of DJ, you can’t have it both ways.

Maybe Dave could tell us himself, or are you Dave ???

His profile says he’s not logged on since October 2018, that’s not to say he doesn’t have another account which he doesn’t use for viewing only.

Why is DJ held in such low or high esteem though ? I think the the worst thing he’s done is totally withdraw from this forum, ultimately it’ll lead to a much poorer outlook for his business long term, if indeed there is a long term. He arrived with his matey matey approach, not supplier to customer relationship which we’re used to, over shared and now he’s facing this as a result mistrust, and suspicion.

Being a resident of Newport at the time I would often see upto 10 brand new 66s las through the station often going to Wembley for work on the West Coast upgrade. i remember 66503/504/505 being stabled on Godfrey Road with 504 minus freightliner side brandings.

Its nice to see the “bluebirds” nickname used, I believe I attached the name to them back in 2001 I took some (poor) pictures of the first batch leaving Newport for London, I sent the pictures to Rail Express under the title “GBRF Bluebirds fly the nest” - bluebirds being “my” team, Cardiff City. Rail Express didn’t use my pictures but did use the nickname I made up, looks like it still hangs on to them.

I dont want people to throw good money after bad as far as I can see and that logn quoted story illustrates the point well it’s a dead horse, but one that will limp on closer to the finish line before being put out of its misery by the vet. I think the chap has traded on his previous job, if anyone else had rocked up with this lot they’d of been run out of town years ago !

I’m not sure whether the chap has the worse luck I’ve ever seen, is a really poor project manager or is just a plain dreamer flying round the world on other people’s money hoping they’ll forget they’ve actually paid him to produce something? Quotes of woe do read like a eastenders storyline ! Personally I think he’s seriously unlucky and a really poor PM, the latter you have to worry about your investment as a result.

What an excuse that would be “I’ve cancelled the project because you lot aren’t grateful enough” lol This Project HAS to produce something or it’ll be the end of what reputation and business the chap has left.

Im more worried about people who have given money over in good faith, and as have been quoted promised refunds if it all goes wrong but are still without a model some three years later! if you read all that lot and still thought you’d see anything for your money your mad ! Id rather give my bank details to a Nigerian oil Prince !

£160 for a standard model is very good indeed, and £250 for a sound one as well - although a sound 92 would be equally archived by running the wife’s hover !

I’d of thought any new “announcement” would be met with a air of right oh sunshine, whatever. Rather than a wow, I can’t wait, take my cash !
