  1. Loco mech are still trading and very busy. I have a motor on order which they can’t supply at the moment as they have run of bits and awaiting supplies. I did have to drop them an email to find out this information, but I did get a quick response.
  2. Hi, we went on a fly drive to USA last year stopping off at the Colorado Rail Museum and road on a Galloping Goose then on the same day drove upto Georgetown Loop. Both very enjoyable. Due to lengthy customs process in Denver we didn’t have time to go the Forney Museum near Denver that has a Big Boy as an exhibit so if you have time might be worth a visit. We then drove to Canon City for the Royal Gorge trip where you can see white water rafters alongside the train. You could pay extra for the dome cars, but we didn’t and we’re out on the open Wagons most of the time which was far more enjoyable. From there we went to Chama for the Cumbres and Toltec which is a fantastic ride. If we were to do it again, we would take the early bus to Antinito and start the ride from there. Going from Chama we found the last bit to Antinito a bit boring which was then followed by a coach trip back to Chama. Again on this train you can access open Wagons for breathtaking views. After that the we stayed at Durango and travelled up and down to Silverton which was a fun ride as well. We did go in the open Wagons as the train was not full, but these are normally reserved so in busy times you have to stay in your booked coach. We went mid August and prebooked tickets (except George Town loop) however none were fully booked on arrival. we did pass through Williams on the way to Los Angeles where we stayed in a real Caboose overnight which was the highlight for my son (he was unimpressed with the Grand Canyon except when we saw the train that runs to it from Williams). We would love to go back and stay longer in Colorado and visit Gunnison and other interesting places we missed so hope you have a great time.
  3. Thanks for all your advise, will do some more investigation into the suggestions.
  4. I have recently purchased some Bachmann ON30 D&RGW coaches that come in a distinctive yellow livery and I would like to match that colour when repainting one of the ubiquitous and plentiful ON30 2-6-0s in the same bumble bee finish. I know Bachmann do a stock version, but these cost a lot whereas a similar Hawthorne Village in a garish livery is pretty cheap and I have one ready to be sacrificed. Has anyone else undertaken this exercise and know of any suitable paint that will readily match the Bachmann coaches? Any thoughts or advice gratefully accepted.
