  1. Class 56 Service Sheet This is the DCC ready version breakdown pdf.... I have a few, all of which seemed to 'gum-up' after time. The original grease in the gear towers, indeed throughout the gear mechanism seems to dry out and jam everything - you can check by disconnecting the cardan shafts / universal joints ( item 11 in PDF ) from the motor and checking that the motor runs when disconnected from the rest of the drivetrain. Earlier examples also had a cooler group fan assembly which ran via a rubber belt looped over the motor flywheel - These always seem to affect running on my examples too, so I disconnected them. They weren't fitted to DCC Sound examples as that's where the speaker was positioned - I noted on Hornby's current service sheet ( 310H ) they are missing too, so perhaps they were omitted in later examples of the 56. Four screws hold the body on, as you will have encountered while fitting the 'chip. Lights always seem to be an issue after body removal for me - those early contacts were never reliable after the first body separation... *EDIT - should say there is a bit of a knack to getting the UJ's back into the motor or gear tower connections after separation - the most important tool required is patience !
  2. TMC have (just one ) Bachmann 47 sound fitted for a little over £200..... 35-432SF Bachmann OO Gauge Class 47/7 47790 Galloway Princess DRS Compass (Original) (Sound Fitted)
  3. The 70's / 80's catalogues always the most nostalgic for me....
  4. Any idea what make the decoder is in the sound fitted version ?
  5. Hornby have their own 'Lion' train pack c/w coaches for £130.... Hornby R30232 L&MR Lion Train Pack
  6. Service sheets are on Lendon's website https://www.lendonsmodelshop.co.uk/?button=button2&servicesheets=none
  7. Late to the party, but my rolling road is part of a test rig / programming set-up - portable and pretty much ready to run... Was a bit of a 'lock-down' project really, but has been well used since then.... The Rolling Road part is DCC concepts - Hattons only had them available individually at the time, but 6 seems to have been enough. They are held loosely in place with plastic strip, which allows them to slide along the track but not fall off... Switch box allows you to feed DC or DCC to the RR - There is the further option of ESU programmer, or the Hornby E-link to read / change CVs as you wish. Power supplies are underneath the deck - Just plug it in, connect the laptop if necessary, and good to go.
  8. Kernow have some... https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/43420/38-625-Bachmann-FGA-BR-Freightliner-Outer-Container-Flats(x2)-IS
  9. I bought two - both came with the newer silver wheels... Also, E-bay picture shows silver wheels fitted, so more than justified to return under 'not as advertised'...
  10. The replacement wheelsets for Heljan are bizarrely expensive... I found it more cost effective to buy a new chassis from Olivia Trains E-Bay site.....Olivia Trains Cl 26 Chassis They're £42 plus £6 p&p now - I think I paid less back in the day, but like everything else.... Mine did come with the silver wheels, which I actually used on a Hymek - still have the rest of the chassis / motor / PCB for spares It would also give you a new motor if you needed to check that as the cause of the stutter...?
  11. This is an original Eurostar bogie from the 90's - I measured the wheelbase as 38mm.... If you want this one let me know - It's been sitting in my spares box for the last 10 years at least ! Motor works fine, however it stripped one of it's nylon ( ? ) gears, so I replaced the whole bogie - the driving axles / wheels weren't available separately...
  12. I have used the coloured, slide on numbers in the past, professionally rather than on the layout, for work using krones and multicore twisted pair cables. I think we secured them with cable ties, and they were around the outer, rather than individual cores - always found the colours were more useful than the numbers, especially where you couldn't quite twist the marker to read the number. In the environment I was working in ( broadcast ) the slide on numbers would have been preferable to clip on - were they to 'unclip' you're in a whole world of trouble !
  13. Well, the OP has already suggested that they won't purchase another kit from them, all for the want of a few instructions, or indeed the suggestion of where to find the instructions... How many others have done similar ? How many have themselves said 's*d it' and moved on ?? Does this mean also that kit building will be unavailable for those without internet access, not internet 'savvy', or not 'capable' of perusing the website ' in a logical manner' ?
  14. You're not really suggesting that a few sheets of A4 are going to make a huge difference in price to an almost £50 kit, are you ? Or require a marked difference in the size of the box ?? How about just a simple 'The instructions are online' note maybe ? And when the OP enquired about the instructions, how about a PDF attachment, rather than just 'The instructions are online'.
  15. What a pity we are not all so 'logical'.... I too would have thought including printed instructions with the kit was most 'logical'.
