Thank you.  Safari and yes after a chat with Andy Y reset everything but even after yesterday I have had to 'forget password and reenter today.  Only perhaps I have found that when resetting password I do not need my Peter BB name it just goes straight to my in box so I have just clicked on your response.

I have an iMac 2011 vintage that is sometimes especially on email remarkably slow.

Following this reply I ventured onto my content and initially was able to read and tick a response then, about 10-15 minutes ago I found that I could no longer tick a response but still read so looking at my avatar I clicked it to find that '" you do not have permission etc.".

I have re-logged on to add a further comment to this.  All seems to me rather odd and ER is the only blog currently accessible (unless no others have been adding content).  Cheers, Peter

Edit:- Sorry, I meant the 'like' boxes yes, the boxes mentioned below.   Google Chrome ... will look that up.

You mention “ticking a response“. Do you see tick boxes or little icons like a thumbs-up, a heart, a smiley-face, etc.?

Could you try a different browser? I suggest Google Chrome.

  2. Thought its was cracked the other day when I was able to get back on but no in spite of resetting everything it is still the same , to get on I have to remember o'forget my password' fill in the next screen and then go to my email to find the link ... after which I can access ... but with a computer that is very very fast that takes somewhere in the order of 8 minutes. Have been able to click some comments today but the number of blog comments is astronomical between each session. Am also surprised at the 'lift-off' of the 12/52 when so many of those who have not been observing anyway are out and about. SWMBO thinks its about time I did leave the premises ...
  3. Thanks for your comment guys - I have been able to come back so will attempt to catch up on all my followed aspects.
  4. Hi Guys, IN view of recent problems accessing the site with a 'reset password' needed each time I have come straight to the end hoping that at last I can actually comment and it be accepted. I will therefore leave it at this close it down and see if after totally resetting my computer email/web access I will be able to return if I log out. Just a note. At times I have been able to read but not comment but then totally cut off. Hopefully I will see you all again this time. Cheers, Peter
  5. Looking good but it probably did look like your original modelling at an earlier stage in its life. Pebbledash - do some sanding and sweep up all the bits afterwards ... it looks clean now put a touch of glue on the wall and blow from the 'clean area' area towards the wall - you will have your fine 'pebbledash'. PS normally only seems to work when you want a perfectly smooth surface rather than when you need it.
  6. Hi Guys, Still major problems in accessing the site. Have read a number of posts but suddenly I can only read and not 'comment' or post. To do so I have to come out and again redo password twice via the 'forgot password' route. Today I managed to get on and found some 20 pages so have to admit that I skipped quite a few. Items I can remember from nearly 2 hours: Vaccination - just when will the anti-vaxers realise that they are the people causing the rest of us a problem by stating it as a 'freedom' that many people have put their lives into making better for all. I have heard that Hyde Park is 'crowded' with anti-lockdown 'freedom being taken away' protesters - let us see the spike in Covid-19. Veganism - agree that they are generally processed foods and odd to me. Vegetarianism - not my taste but would find it better if this group and especially the former mentioned group would just get on with it and not try to ram hit down the rest of us. Seafoods - can take a number of fish only but fish contain many important aspects needed to survive, as do vegetables. Like the stats on water usage. Slang terms - agree that there are many many variables used for the same terms. Coffee etc. - allergic so no comments on the whys and wherefores. Sorry to see that Natalie has been upset. Test track and trace - pure numbers is misleading - pity the government is trying to farm this out to money makers rather than the competent and available NHS Pathology Service. John (Coombe) always has some fascinating and appropriate observations viz. 6 Saturdays and 1 Sinday typo -not intended but made me laugh (what a poor sense of humour I may have)! The problems mentioned also apply to my followed topics but every so often I damage to read parts. See you again some time. keep safe, keep well. Peter BB
  7. As a former FIBMS I agree with your comments on this. First visited a homeless hostel in 1967 but had no idea that I would ever work with the homeless later as a member of the Red Cross and can also agree with you that the dogs are usually very well kept. Some however are not shall we say 'not very nice dogs' but you can understand that when a homeless person manages a tent and vandals burn it and its contents it is not surprising that the next step is to 'get a dog'. Marriage break-up is a common cause of homelessness generally for men so "there but for the grace of God go I" is possibly something that a numberof us on here may be thankful. Gyms are something that I personally think are expensive ways of trying to keep fit ... may be of help but definitely not for me. Played last infrequent by that stage game of Rugby at 45, do no regular exercise but until this 9 of 12 have always been very active.
  8. Hi Guys, All read but once again apparently it will not come into consideration until my 'paper contract' runs out. This is my 4th attempt to day to get onto the web - the third did allow some comment then nothing apart from reading. Frustrating as SWMBO says 'you are spending hours on that thing' and she is right. Happy birthday etc. agree with Coombe Martin and others on 'idiots' Pleased to see that others have the same problems with Marmite, can give no comments on alcohol as allergic to it and never went to pubs because cigarette smoke also caused problems. Like Andy Ps kettle on - that is the state in our home (as opposed to house). Nearly midday now so better get off the computer and 'do something useful'. Cheers, Peter
  9. Agree about the smells emanating from the Marmite factory - absolutely hated it as we were uphill from it in the days of Burton living.
  10. Hi Guys, At last having over the past few days read all have been able to actually 'react' before it all disappeared. Will know later if this was a one off day. Many facets have been discussed - the curry one - cannot even be in a room with a curry and I think but chocolate biscuits ... must be milk chocolate because for some reason the 'dark' stuff upsets. Guitars and music have their moments and thanks to Natalie for the above. I liked the Shadows and did manage to see them live - wished John R had still been with them as previously the last time I had seen him prior to the Shadows was in Gladstone Road Wimbledon delivering for Woolworths. Andy P frustrated at not being able to model has become a GAS man for guitars, this after trying to 'lighten' the removal load - hope to hear him play sometime but cannot see George T travelling down to be part of the group. Lockdown ... garden definitely looks a lot better so getting used to it and only 4/52 to go from the first recommendation but very disappointed to hear that a 'group hug' took place out side the PC HQ in London - selfish people who seem to think only of rights and not responsibilities - the latter being part of the reason that rights can 'normally' safely exist. Agree with Robert he pharmacist on supply aspects. Enough said , best wishes and keep as well and safe as you can.
  11. Enjoyed working West Shed using the cards. For some reason I have to reset my PW every time on the web but apart from the odd comment on this particular blog it does not accept any on e.g. ER and definitely doesn't accept any comment. It appears that I can still read (will try in a second) but after a short time it cuts out. Have PM'd Andy Y with that information and one other aspect but now wonder if that actually 'went'. Apologies for using one that 'works'. *Have been able to read and comment on ER - hope it stays that way. Cheers, Peter BB
  12. Andy is in the 'process' of moving. He should have gone by Easter but the Covid-19 has delayed things somewhat. He had sent much of his stuff to relations in the area and had taken down his layouts. As a result of the delay he has unwrapped part of one and modified it to fit the new abode, is posting some former layout pictures and with new guitars has bee practicing to reform their band when he moves. All in all very active for a 'new' septuagenarian during lockdown. Cheers, Peter
  13. PLeasantly surprised - liked the ones played.
  14. Two things - Ade, computer and RM problems have not accepted comments but great work. Andy - not decorating but intending to 'modify' the new abode ... that will involve decorating!
  15. I then modified it a couple of times and also considered adding it to my 'main layout' that required a radical change in my 'Engine Shed'. Not happy with that so took it back to the then previous modification. When running it at home a club friend said that he liked it so to gain space sold it to him. My latest impression is that it was modified 'to pieces'.
  16. Great article - shows a really superb layout well.
  17. WIll trawl through multiple days quickly as I have missed a few days but this comment ... contrary to Gwiver I have had lottery tickets for over 40 years and have never won anything! Wonder what interest I've missed in that time. Hi Guys, best wishes to all and especially those 'confirmed' with Covid-19. Have been busy G-word plus for a few days now as SWMBO has considerable mobility problems especially at low level. I have actually enjoyed it apart from the wind that makes a warm sunny day a 'freeze' situation. I have been called and noting that the 'available' page numbers visible are way up on my reading have concluded that I will not be able to catch up mush before late pm so apologies if I have missed both funny and erudite comments ... be back when available. Cheers, Peter
  18. So the decorating and the layout and its stock should be completed by then!
  19. Wow, you are surely making the best of the isolation time.
  20. Hi Ade,

Relating to a previous comment - after London our overall area has the highest mortality rate for Covid-19

Normally end by saying Cheers but 332 dead is not good.

    Regards, Peter

      Hi Peter, all very sad.

I am fortunate not knowing anyone locally who has caught it.

      Cheers, Ade.

  21. Congratulations Neil and family
  22. Hi,

Apologies for not remembering your  proper name but the quote you gave came from Chris F not me.  I quoted him since I too have a real problem with curry in any shape or form - the smell for a start.  Once in an Indian restaurant for a department do ... best not mentioned.

Keep safe, keep well, cheers, Peter

      Peter,

yes, I see that now. I had replied to your post, but you were both sharing the same concern. I should have quoted your next paragraph. Food sensitivity can be a big problem.

You keep safe and well too.

  23. Superb playing by Alison Balsam - all pieces enjoyed. Chris F Some of my friends are almost religious in their devotion to curry and I have missed out on many a convivial social occasion because I was not comfortable with it. I suppose they will now make fun of me for only being able to cope with the mildest curry. A memory .. the presentation/information evening was going well ...that is until they took the lids off the meal - curry and in no time I had to leave. Its was winter and in shirtsleeves outside it was cold ... the time taken for the meal to be eaten and for discussion during (the important part of the meeting) and the clearing away took a long time. By the time I was back in ... meeting nearly over and 'frozen'. I can totally understand Chris's view on curry and even more so such that if SWMBO ever has curry (and one or two other things) I need to be away. In an earlier reference to Gwiver tissues also tend to increase effect rather than diminish in the event of some tree/at times grass pollen. My fellow students did however say that they would be willing to have shares in Kl**ex at the time.
