Hornby have definitely got the good start on the shunters truck as the Bachmann model won't be out till December at the earliest.
Hattons email.
We thought you may like to know that an item you have on order with us, has had some information about its release date added or updated.
Bachmann Branchline 38-676 GWR Shunters Truck GWR Grey 'Newton Abbott' £10.58
Our latest information from the supplier suggests this item will arrive with us between December 2013 & January 2014
Whilst we are hopeful this information is accurate, manufacturer lead times are frequently prone to be delayed. This information is to be used as a guide only. -
GWR thingie
I think they're called signal boxes.Yes,the GWR always takes priority. Did you sort the window etches out you wanted.

That will be a beautiful coach when its finished Chris.Watching with interest.

Please tell me I was dreaming.
I am and just read the last line of my signature.

Robin I do like the fact that you have named the people/characters in your photos. It does bring a smile when I read about them. Like you I have named a couple so far, Frank Drake the haulier and signalman Howard and the pub is the Armada. I think you'll see the link.
Not my idea,I took inspiration from Mikkel's Farthing blog and he uses characters names from Dickens novels. The skill is remembering who's who when mentioning them on here.

My butt is certainly full now.....
There's no answer to that quote....

I converted a few of my layout photos like you and like yours they convey some character in them and remind me of the old Railway Modeller pictures before the advent of colour.Good work Al.

Do anomalies need watering in this hot weather Rob?
P
Certainly do and I need topping up with Katy's as its bloody warm in the railway room.

As I'm technically the Finching sisters guardian I would like to put on record the sisters although they've been depressed of late are not in need of a stay in an asylum.Obviously having just returned from Eastern pastures might ascertain that this might be the case.In the words of Griff Rhys Jones,I am convinced they are of sound mind.I am convinced...
They also would like to point out there's other anomalies on this layout that are more important than their sanity.
As for the crabs they enjoyed them on a sandwich with a bit of Devonshire salad.More healthier than Mr Aulds pasties.

I do feel giving Minnie the crabs is a mite ungentlemanly.
Ah I'm with you all now.I thought it was a nice friendly gesture, something you might not get on the Eastern.

As you can imagine Alan they meet with my approval beautiful modelling all round and the coach destination is a nice touch.

Its a quiet overcast morning in the South Hams but the silence is shattered by the bark of 8750 class pannier tank 3796 of Newton with its B set and siphon arriving at Brent. One wonders whats in the siphon as there might have been some choice crabs landed at Beesands this morning. The driver was hoping to cheer Minnie Finching up by giving her some.

it looks like 4014 Knight of the Bath could be the only other one.
Nick
Even she was withdrawn in June '46.

Hornby's small-tendered 4018 makes it suitable only for a pre-WWII condition, Rob. Of the 'box cylinder front' locos, most had gone or been converted by your era, the only surviving elbow-fitteds being 4007 and 4014 (4019 and 4020 not being fitted until post-GWR). I think they would have had short safety valves by then. Check dates etc here.
Just as I thought then.Good old Hornby making it easy for us that like to try and model specific locos at a specific time.Hey ho.

Scrumpy gives you a red nose and rosey cheeks
And a sore head if you have too many.I like a glass or two of cider but its got to be British [Hereford/West Country] as I've noticed recently our neighbours over the channel have started making it.Any connoisseurs on here that have some recommendations ,most welcome, hic.

But #141 is Knight of the Grand Cross, not Lode Star. It is correctly fitted with elbow steam pipes as fitted in 1931 and carries a shirtbutton on the tender. There's a photo of Knight of the Bath in this livery with a short bonnet in RCTS 8, so maybe it is correct
Nick.
Nick. Are there any other naming options as that model stands.I'm sure we're limited.

Well Bachmann and I got the running number correct on the NA version I see.

Death of a Man City legend http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23375452
Someone hit the nail on the head by saying,If you can fight on the Western and Eastern fronts, arrive in the UK as a prisoner and become a sporting legend, and play in an FA Cup final with a broken neck, there's not a lot that's gonna dent you.No wonder if lived to 89.

A Nod To Brent - a friendly thread, filled with frivolity, cream teas and pasties. Longing for the happy days in the South Hams 1947.

I've no idea but I don't like that colour scheme myself.Much prefer the light/dark stone but you knew I'd say that anyway. It would look nice in my back garden.
