Well it would be rude not to have a Manor photo.

Those of you on here with long memories may remember the signal box thread of a couple of years ago where I posted my requirements for Brent. The box was changed post war to what's still standing now albeit in a state of disrepair [final photo] .Hopefully it won't be demolished.
Here's the box as I wanted to model it.Again it was commissioned and I'd finish itlike the station building. With Mike's [The Stationmaster] help I've done the floor the right colour and painted it using Precision light/dark stone. It still needs an interior and I'm torn on what to use here as both Springside and Scalelink do bits to detail it.Apparently it had 66 levers in GWR days but whether I fit them all remains to be seen.I do like those etched levers though.
The nameplate was a special order from Gareth at Guilplates.Highly recommended.

Yes, quite an interesting experience sitting in the main shed area, now the waiting room, waiting for the
torture chamberhygenist...Yes waiting for a scale and polish and I swear I just heard a 4575 prairie shunting.

Super modelling Rob makes my modified ready to plonk stuff look inferior.

Not at all as I have plenty of RTP buildings myself.I just haven't shown them yet.

Right on to the painting of the station building. Now I was ready to slap on some brick red from a Humbrol tin when a discussion with the afore mentioned builder had him suggest using Humbrol Gloss Orange! What.
So I bought a tin along with some http://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/catalogsearch/result/?q=matting matting agent and a dash of black mixed it together gave the finish you see below.I used acrylic for the mortar joins doing one face and leaving it to dry overnight.I practised on the chimneys first I might add.
I then used watercolour pencils to pick out various bricks as discussed here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/14557-picking-out-brick-colours/ The roof was done a similar way but using greys and Bob's your Aunties live in lover. This was weathered too.
Since these photos were took a few Tiny Signs G W R adverts adorn the rear wall .

Well, seeing one track missing last week got me thinking - 'that's how it would look if the line had been singled'..! Now, here's what a worse nightmare might have looked like, supposing 'Beeching Part X' had taken place, with no railways west of Exeter...
Apologies for crude 'photoshoppery'...
Where's the don't like button when you need one.

Now on to the up station building which ,as with the overbridge I commissioned the basic shell to built for me to then finish, paint and detail the interior on.The canopy was built shorter than the original due to space constraints but looks quite nice especially now I've added some Scalelink etchings to it as seen in the last shot and more to come soon.
I really enjoyed painting this building which bodes well for when I do the down platform one.As you can see it was suppied really like a kit and I've used Scalescenes interior elements prints to finish it including ceilings and coal fires. You can even get a sheet for a toilet from Scalescenes !

Do you not have the original colour photo saved somewhere?
No but I've found another shot instead. Due to lack of planning on my part I found that I had to compromise on the docks position. It sits adjacent to a point which of course is totally wrong and the drainage channels needed to be trimmed more than they should to fit to enable the point to throw correctly.Cruel in close up I'm afraid but a lesson learnt.Plan ahead next time.
Thats a nice photo from Captain Kernow and I'm sure I'll rustle up a similar viewpoint on the layout.
4547 has just run around the b set and will couple up ready for the return to Kingsbridge. The down platform looks very bare on this early shot and the misplaced goods shed is in the far distance too.

Hi Robin,
Depends how you have done it. If you have discarded all the Colour information, you probably won't be able to do it. Do you have Photoshop?
I don't have Photoshop and I'm pretty sure I used the program Irfanview to change it.Never mind just a thought.

My order of Pannier Papers Part 6 & 7 arrived in the post yesterday, some very nice photographs and useful information.
I like the work of Ian Sixsmith.Does it give shed allocations and a photo for all of the 64/74xx class.

Especially as my personal shopper has hopefully bought things on my behalf at Ally Pally today...
I could do with one of those myself.I could get them to go into Ann Summers for me. What you bought then Chris ?

I think Bachmann are copying Hornby's trick of releasing a model where renumbering/name is a pain.Hornbys proposed 'Wellington' Castle with Hawksworth tender springs to mind. You talking months in a livery combination.

Blimey...San Marino made England look good last night...the press will be tipping us to win the World cup next

Anyway let me intoduce you to someone you may see a lot of on this thread over time. One of the porters at Brent was Mike Roper.A keen gardener by the looks of those flowers duely tended between duties on the Great Western. The company he's worked for since he left school.
The B set behind is a Comet kits E129 pair.

Spent a little time trying to identify the silver "lorry " which had apparently come grief in a ditch to the left of the bridge ...... I blame (rapidly?)failing eyesight for not spotting it was a cunningly disguised SVR clock. Surely "out of period" though?
Ah the lovely SVR clock. The children thought it would nice to buy this on the Santa Special one year out of their pocket money. Its long gone to the clock scrapyard in the sky but I now have a wall clock instead.

Here are a few shots of how my overbridge came about.Lacking confidence in my ability to scratchbuild back in 2009 I had this commissioned by David Amias to build it. http://www.djamodels.moonfruit.com/
He had access to drawings and this was the results ready for for me to complete the painting and final detailing etc.
A big thanks is also due to Captain Kernow for some excellent prototype photos and especially one which enabled me to try and blend the road into my backscene.

How close is the layout to the real Brent?
This is the real Brent, seriously though not very close. As I alluded in Andy Y's prototype thread its more a flavour hence the 'nod' with mainly the overbridge and station buildings to give the Brent look. The trackplan is quite close but the goods shed is miles away.I'm a bit of a luddite so doing a trackplan for everyone is a tough ask but if anyone wants to help it would be most welcome.
I'm actually quite overwhelmed in the interest this layout has had with the first three measly photos. You wait till you see a Castle with six or seven on.......
Thanks Westerner for the lighting link but I'm not sure I'd want to spend that much to be honest.

What sort of size does the layout take up?
I'd say something like 14 ft by 8 ft .The curves I have take all the stock I currently have ok.Lets see what the new 72xx does.
Does anyone have a link to some suitable extra lighting I can easily rig up for photos to give me a boost.I'm sure I've seen some clip on types used somewhere.

I thought I'd start a layout topic as a place to put some photos. It won't be a blow by account as the majority of building/trackwork is complete.Inspired by Westerners 'Wencombe' I intend to give you a flavour of it and to share my rolling stock etc.Forgive me if I repeat the same shot angles with different locos but its not a massive layout to showcase my stock.
I will start with the cattle dock area using Ratio bits and Slaters plastikard for the walls.Scenics are from Green Scene using their mats with added static grasses using a Noch puffer bottle.Done before the Grassmaster appeared !
Along here is one of my favourite locations to show off my latest creations.
The fencing is also Ratio with the added use of EZ wire. The trackwork is code 75 Peco ballasted using 2mm Green Scene ballast in a mixture of colours.- 45
