  1. Has anyone heard from Mallard60022 recently.

      skipepsi

about 5 days I think not sure

  2. The Hall photo above seems popular so I've taken a liberty and posted some more of her in action... I've had another look at that corner plot of trees and have made an executive decision.More anon.
  3. I mentioned a few weeks back about the view under my overbridge using a mirror didn't work. This evening I took a photo to shew what I mean and found these three wise men [!] looking back at me.Where the mirror sits on the lane the bevel edge of it shews and I need to disguise it somehow. Anyway captions are most welcome....
  4. You used to be able to catch a bus to Salcombe from Kingsbridge station organised by the GWR themselves.
  5. What did you use for your yellow/straw coloured grass please Mark ?
  6. The evening sun sets on what was a lovely day in Devon as we catch well weathered Hall class 4948 'Northwick Hall' on an up empty cattle van train to Newton Abbot. Some of these vans may be destined for the Ashburton branch perhaps... The problem with redoing the banks is the trees at the rear now look tatty ,so I might need to give them some tlc and then there's the backscene. The list goes on.....
  7. I definitely haven't shown my Collett Goods as yet and was thinking about it the other day.You must have read my mind Dave. There was one example that ran down the branch,2211 I think but mine hasn't been renumbered as yet.
  8. Well its a glorious Sunday afternoon in the South Hams as a short freight bound for Hackney Sidings trundles over the embankment.Newton pannier 3796 does the honours again.. I've been adding some brambles to the mats by using postiche and various coloured scatters all from Green Scene.Whatever takes your fancy really.A sprinkle of the finer burnt grass [WS] overhead gives it some depth.A bit of pva to glue the postiche and then hairspray to hold the scatter.
  9. What something along these lines by someone else called Mikkel. Lovely looking vehicles. http://www.gwr.org.uk/prosiphon.html
  10. Apologies for the anomalies on the down line but I couldn't resist a few more of 4547.It looks like the siphons G W will have to be replaced by the shirtbutton for post war but at least the toad is correctly lamped now Mr Stationmaster.
  11. Someone said greens are good for you.So is that Midsummers,Oak or Willow green then....

  12. Its a beautiful sunny day out in the South Hams as 4547 brings a coach and siphon onto the mainline. The grass is looking lush and green but needs a bit more work to give it depth and variation in the colour. Yes double headers are very nice but there's something also very nice about a small prairie that screams GWR too.... Also it keeps Mikkel happy. The siphon g is one of quite a few [Airfix/Dapol/Hornby] I have that need upgrading with new corridors and handrails.Wouldn't a new 21st century model of this sell well ?
  13. Very nice Nick. Can you tell me the origins of the LMS and NE vans please. Its something I need to address on my GW layout too.
  14. These are the last photos to shew the old embankment off as the main mats will be finished tomorrow morning. Then its on to the scenic detail.I definitely want to sort out a new backscene. In the meantime 7804 and 6015 carry on over with a down Plymouth bound express.
  15. Yes there's a richness and a lovely texture to the scenics that's excellent without the trains in view as well.
  16. I was saying how nice one on the front of a King or Castle would look.I can see you having a return layout visit my friend. Talking of which here's a King and Manor on a down express..
  17. I've finally got round to starting to 'lay' my scenic mats after I prepared them earlier.Neat pva onto the surface and then I dipped the whole mat in a tray of pva/water mix .I squeezed the excess off and placed it as shown in photo.I then tapped it down to seal the edges. When its dry I will use various scatter and postiche to create brambles etc.As its wet the colour looks lighter but hopefully it will tone down on drying. I will also need a pack of those nice Mininatur tufts with leaves too. Peter Hazell looks on with interest on the otherside.
  18. Nice work and you've made me look at my 3796 for the same additions.Great prototype photo.
  19. Thats scary Mike.I've just added a reply to your thread. The colour is a light grey on the road and station entrance and a darker grey on the platform.Creamy/sandy sounds a nice shade too.
  20. Half term week nearly over and still no modelling done.

      Thats not good to here!!

  21. There's quite a few matchpots available in grey as I've discovered with repainting our kitchen. Its a shame you can't get a mini roller [60mm] to give it texture like the large one I used on my walls. They dry darker than on the pot lid though.
