Throw stones if you wish.. if that is an O gauge 66, is that an O gauge HIA / similar buffered up to it ?? or am I suffering a Dougal / Father Ted moment ?
-
Brilliant and very informative photos. there seems to be an observation bump on 49005 for panto watching ?

Flying Scotsman in trouble?
rs4 replied to Craig1989's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
It did sound rather pathetic at Stevenage this morning Just sounded “odd”. A higher pitch “chuff” There you go, the technical answer ! -

Hi Andy Like the gypsums. I did similar pre Accurascale using the 3D prints from Wild Boar Models. if I had spare cash I would now redo using the Hattons flats, plus I think I glued the boxes on.... Nick

The buffer / pipe / coupling area is VERY convincing. Loving the GRIME.

The challenge is on.... but how long will it take to find it ? Before the Dapol 59 release ? I could be lucky I guess ?
-
Hello Jerry Yeah, the 59 is still “on shed”, ha ha It’s missing anywhere to travel at the moment seeing as my layout was ripped up when we moved. I need to remedy that.... Nick

Nice trick on the nameplates - look superb.

Glad to see you collected your TEA, must have been a sub roll going by the shape of the box..... -
Wasn’t it out 2-3 years ago ? (unless they were doing a re-run)

Hmmm...... well............ nope ! modelling mojo though has just returned, I’m finishing off my BDA to MXA conversions..... miracle ? ! -
Getting on for 3 years since my last post... holy smoke. Not good news folks, I have to report that Deep Water Yards is about to be broken up.... Moving offices... so this is your (and my) last look at the madness that was.... I’ve moved most of the stock today but the truly awful task of breaking the layout up comes next.... I don’t think much of it is reusable the way I built it...

Berkswell loop
rs4 replied to Southof1E top tmd's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
I would agree. i would get on at Tile Hill heading to New Street, usually the 310 /312 would pull into the loop and let an express by. i was shocked to see it gone many years later (having left home and moved away). Surely a useful piece of track ? the berkswell “loop” was just a siding onto the old berkswell to kenilworth line. I’m sure as a kid the rumour was that the Royal Train had been berthed there at times. Unsure if this is true. there was a plan to relay the line with the mega pit that was planned.... which didn’t get built. Would have run right past our house..... now destined to be HS2... there was still railway memorabilia along the line during the 80s. must go back for a walk along it.... very soon. berkswell had the level crossing and a cut through under a VERY low bridge.... long since rebuilt. likewise Tile Hill... I’d always have my fingers crossed that the barriers would be down... now a bridge in its place. -
Great choice. I’m glad the cat is out of the bag (again) as I saw a post on here ? Twitter ? About a month ago.... which was swiftly deleted. i didn’t want to ask questions in case it spoilt the surprise factor....

Here’s my attempt from a few years ago. Six (?) glued together to make a double track viaduct, had it on my desk for a while.....

Hi Cavalex Just stood here at Peterborough looking at a 225 set. I’d like to see: Brake discs on the coach axles - internally on the axle - 3 ? I think. Quite distinctive on the mk4s Some representation of the cabling / pipes between the coaches. Good luck.. Nick

That’s my lot then. How about everyone else’s ??
-
Something else Chris. I think the chutes underneath are meant to be body coloured, while the actual chute doors are black. I did mine as follows: Project duly stalled after that as did modelling mojo ! Must resume.....

Ummmm It's not an uncommon issue with all of their 56s and other classes that use a similar method for powering the lights. You could try cleaning both ends of the contacts. Clearly they've got to be sprung enough to make a good contact. Lining them up can be a real fiddle too. I have on the odd occasion soldered wires between the copper strips and the contacts in desperation..... Sometimes even this doesn't solve the problem.... Good luck.... let's hope better designs come along.

Class 800 - Updates
rs4 replied to Indomitable026's topic in UK Prototype Discussions (not questions!)
Page 126. I was lucky enough (?) to have a ride on an 800 this week, partly thanks to the listing on page 126 -
These do look good. Makes me realise though how good the S Kits moulds were for the time. Yes, they are certainly missing some of the finer detail, and yes they do require building.... The decoration will improve these further. Sure I'll be buying some !
