  1. Hey one and all, I recently took advantage of the TMC sales and purchased a number of SPA in NR livery with the intention of dismantling stripping then re spraying the bodies in Railfreight. I have tried to prize the body off of the chassis but I’m having no luck at all. any tips or advice from fellow modellers would be gratefully received. thanks in advance. dickie
  2. Have you tried any of the Facebook groups. Ally of local railmen on Anglia gen may be able to assist richard.
  3. I love your layout, the level of detail on you OLE is staggering. I have one question, in the last of the GBRf 92 photos, it has a green with a feather into the station, a terminus platform? If it is then only a yellow would be received.
  4. Oh my Lordy !!! I'm salivating, honey shrink me, so I can go spotting in the 80s again, who needs a time machine awesome line up of traction and liveries mate. Oh and the depot looks fabulous too
  5. Brilliant pictures, I love this layout, it's got great detail, great rolling stock, such a shame it's not on the GB exhibition circuit.
  6. Alex I have have the same dream to model the flyash trains, utilising my fleet of type 4's & 5's. I too remember the days waiting for the Fletton train to loom into view at Peterborough, to be disappointed to see a peak or a duff, as I wanted a grid or a 58!!!. So I purchased 18 Dapol presflows as a starting point for the flyash wagons, but they wouldn't have the roof walkways, which would be a bitch to model. It like a lot of my projects are on the back burner presently. I love the pit lights by the way..... All the best Dickie
  7. My favourite loco's in my favourite livery all lived up outside my favourite depot...... The nostalgia is just magic. I really must start modelling again.
  8. Gotta love that grid action mate ;o)
  9. Well, what can I say that hasn't already been posted? The level of modelling is truely outstanding and on a level miles above anything I would have thoguht possible in 4mm. It's almost like you have gotten the plans from British Rail, from when they built the place in the 1960s, and scaled them down to oo gauge. I only hope your footings are deep enough lol! Toton TMD and it's surrounding yards have always held a massive interest for me, as coming from the Anglian region, we didn't get the traction in the quantities as could be seen 'on shed' at any given time. We used to get the odd grid or bone, choppers, peaks and rats were more frequent obvioulsly peds, tractors and duffs were very common in Anglia on all the usual workings. It was the types of traffic that used to fascinate me, coal, stone, steel, scrap and oil and the hustle and bustle of 08's making up trains and sorting the yards. As a teenager In the early to late 80's we used to just walk around the yards and up to the back of the sheds after getting the bus from Long Eaton, getting what numbers we could before heading for the hill with some binoculars to finish off what we hadn't already got oh happy days. So after all this waffle, I'm slowly getting to my point ( at last I hear you cry) my own layout is based within the midlands, a small sub shed of Toton 1985-89 ( a blog will appear soon) and a few photos can be found here dickiegrid100.smugmug.com. It's nice to see someone modelling the best period for liveries in railway history. Well done, a fantastic model and inspiration to me. Thank you Dickie
