  1. After a long absence from the hobby in which I've moved house several times, I've been bitten by the bug again, and have come up with a plan for a mini layout that will be able to move house with me. Maintaining the 1950s/60s West Riding theme of my previous layouts, I've come up with a mill siding setting for an Inglenook Sidings plan. The viaduct will either carry a main road, or a main line railway, and will of course serve to disguise the track going "off-scene". The mill buildings will naturally all be in low relief, and will include a long loading bay, and perhaps an engine house. The third siding will serve a local coal merchant, with his yard opening onto the road. The terraced houses will be small "through-by-lights" of the type commonly found in West Riding mill towns. I'm hoping to scratch build as much as possible like I did on my previous layout, and hopefully that will include the battery-powered controller too! Watch this space.
  2. So it is doable then. Thanks! I ought to actually plan the layout itself first though...
  3. Just to piggy back on this topic, how feasible would it be to rig up a basic battery powered controller with a switch and and a potentiometer? I'm thinking of starting a little N-gauge Inglenook and don't fancy shelling out on a proper controller!
  4. Drawing Tube Maps is harder than you'd think. Hats off to Harry Beck!

  5. Only just got around to looking at this thread, for some reason. Impressive work on the terraced houses! Hope mine come out to the same standard.
  6. Unlined black on a Fairburn(?). Intriguing
  7. That Jubilee is remarkably clean. A stark contrast to the rest of this thread.
  8. Some very impressive photos in this thread. Makes me want to break out the weathering powders.
  9. 18 months? Boo! Hiss! Why must they tempt us so? Ah well, here's hoping for a late crest version.
  10. Well I know what I'm buying myself for my Birthday
  11. Well 1:72 isn't so far removed from 1:76. You can get away with it.
  12. It started life as a Revell Hindenburg, and I went all out with the plasticard, green-stuff, and bits from the scrap box. (The rocket nozzle at the back is an Olbas Oil lid) btw, your photos aren't showing
  13. Blimey, bit fiddly for my liking. Anyway, here's some of the stuff I've done (some of the boyfriend's figures in there too)
  14. 1/285 must be tiny. Is it using those tanks that fit on a 2p coin?
  15. Is anyone into other fields of modelling besides railways? I do a fair bit of military modelling, mostly 1/35 tanks, but also the occasional plane. Thought it might be a good idea to have a thread to show off what you've done. Apologies if there is already such a thread somewhere
