  1. Ugly machines the Sentinel locos but very different and great in model form. I wouldn't mind making a GER J70 'Toby' kit for the layout though for an early 50's period.....
  2. Pictures of progress of my White Swan Yard layout can be found here.
  3. I wish i had the room to model all the way from rampart road to ormand road - with the headshunt on the level crossing - all very modelable. my version is just the yard between rampart road and garrison road though i may one day include the roundabout on the other side of the pub. I trying to make it so that if more room is available one day i can extend it either way. Thanks for the site visit offer and allocations Nigel
  4. Ive got the Bachmann D2009 model (with a cambridge shedplate if i remember) but wether i'll change it i havn't decided yet. I havn't heard about that book so they're all new photos to me, and ive been trying find Norwich 03 allocations for that period too. Maybe a blue 03 won't look too out of place then. Thanks Nigel, you've been a great source of info
  5. The 'diesels in east anglia' is a fantastic book. Its the two photos at the back that inspired the layout! The model is set at the very end of the yard's existance (1968-70), so with non-skirted green 03s (though a blue one may sneak in). Ive got all the track down and wiring nearly complete, hence me now moving onto the structures. Do you by chance know of any pictures of the yard in anymore books?
  6. Thanks for the help. i hadn't seen that topic before. rsv1000r, thats very good of you to offer. its scaling off photographs for the tower and pub measurements which is the hardest bit. An approx datum measurement of a door for example would really help.i read somewhere that the tower is 30ft high but it looks higher than that to me. Southern
  7. Does anyone know the details regarding a layout (and prototype) discussed on Rmweb a couple of years back of a coal yard at the north quay in great yarmouth - next to the White Swan Pub and north west tower of the old town wall? Any info on the prototype would be much appreciated. Thanks Southern
