  1. Your layout is excellent, and also very very clean. Have you thought about adding some dirt & grime or maybe weathering a few items. As i live in Scotland, i can tell you, it's not as clean as your layout. Keep up the good work.
  2. 57003 with sound still available at Hattons for £119, just in case you were thinking of adding another to the fleet! I've just got one of those through the door this morning... absolutley brilliant!. For £119, it's excellent value for money.
  3. Thanks for all the reply's, it's opened my eyes a little to all the work involved so maybe i will get one of those cobalt motors and try that.
  4. Thanks Siverlink, I will see how i get on with the first few motors when the are fitted, if they start giving me problems like you say, i will try some of these cobalt ones and give them a try. They certainly seem to be the way to go as regards ease of wiring etc..
  5. Ah, thanks Dave, that was the answer i was looking for. It makes sense now that there is only one function as it were, on these motors. I have bought a lot (25) of these point motors so i'm going to have to use them. The easiest option for me (not electrically proficient) would be to get a HEX Frog juicer. (a bit expensive though) I have read up about these and seem to be dead easy to wire up. This would mean i could have signal & leds operated separately with the switch, and have the Hex Jucier do the frogs.
  6. A relay... mmm, i could do it that way! so i'm guessing that the PM1 switch can only do one or the other and not both?
  7. Can someone help me please? I want to add seep point motors (PM1 type with the switch built in) to my layout and have them change signals & LED's on a panel. I also want them to change the frog polarity of the point when switched... my question is this... Can do all of that and also change the frog polarity as the wiring is confusing me as to where the frog wire will go? I have searched the internet and found wiring diagrams for this but i cant find out if its possible to do all of this with one PM1 as the signals & LED's require their own power supply also? I have attached the drawing which i am working to..
  8. Very impressed with the quality of this layout. Thanks for posting those pictures..

You had the same status comments yesterday! Does the photo really bother you a lot? I'm not sure whether I would be that bothered by it, personally, although I've got a pretty awful one of me (the other one, not the ship one, that is)....Anyway, I shall try to keep alert long enough to see if you do change it (the photo that is, not the status update comments)..... :-))

  19. No matter, what hobby you pursue, the end result is same, i.e. gaining great pleasure and satisfaction. What also works in favour of practising a hobby is that, it has no deadlines, no rules and no pressure to perform. Spend as much time as you want. No one is going to talk about the end result. All you have to do is to please yourself. Hobbies offer other benefits as well. One can develop new skills and discover unknown talents. Individuals can expand their horizons, make new contacts, develop relationships etc and get the most out of life.
  20. Hi, Can you tell me what you are going to use for your platform tops. card / plastic / wood etc? Great layout by the way.
