Hi I was checking the brake fluid/coolant reservoirs on the car and got to wondering why they are so difficult to see through to establish the levels. They are always made from thick plastic; you might imagine an element of the reservoir would be see-through for a quick visual check. Perhaps others find the current reservoirs easy to check. But I don't. Thanks Tim

Bass Charrington grain wagons - where did they operate?

Yes I think Burton on Trent sounds right. And maybe they came from East Anglia but could it have been Scotland ? Tim -
My most feared body removal experience is always the Bachmann class 47 where I defy anyone to get it off without at least one of the door windows falling off. I always get the glue out before I even commence the job! Tim

pinzaboy replied to stewartingram's topic in Road Vehicles
As far as I know, the 60s would include: 142/X42 Blackpool to Morecambe via Lancaster 162 Preston to Fleetwood 167 Preston to Blackpool Also 180 Preston to Blackpool of which EFE did a single deck model Tim -
Yes. The wires across the speaker is a shame. Because my speaker resonates a bit nd spoils the sound I was considering changing the speaker but to do so will involve a major deconstruction of the wiring.
-
Hi Stu7 My 66 005 still has that same vibrating/distortion noise on the speaker despite turning the volume down on cv63 to 45. Spoils what would otherwise be a great loco. Regards Tim
-
Further to my earlier post regarding dropping the sound to a value of 66 to reduce the speaker distortion, after running it again it is still distorting but to a lesser degree. I've reduced it further to 45 and will see if it improves. Meantime, it's a lovely model. Great lights and detail. I also have an axle box cover missing. Tim

Hi Regarding the speaker not sounding right. I had the same issue on my 66 005. CV63 is the volume and I found it was set at 192!!! So I reduced it to 66 (which seemed like an appropriate numbered value!) And it now works great. My sound was distorting because of the high original value. Hope you can adjust yours. Regards Tim

Like the look of that! Are the weights in the nose end original lima or have you added them? Tim -

Lima hooded steel bogie wagon: how to update?
pinzaboy replied to pinzaboy's topic in Modelling Questions, Help and Tips
Very interesting! Thanks Tim -
Hi Today I purchased a Lima hooded bogie wagon to add to my steel carriers. I've not come across this model before and am wondering if it's an accurate rendition of a wagon type, and if there is a way to up date fittings such as buffers, couplings, bogies, transfers etc? A quick look on the internet suggests it's similar to a hooded BJA steel carrying ferry wagon, but certainly not accurate. Any help on info on this wagon and modelling potential would be gratefully received! Thanks in advance. Tim

Hi As regards the discussion about the size and weight of numbers/letters on the side of EWS 66005 here is my photo of the loco and I think that the EWS letters are slightly thinner than the numerals.

Hi I note that reference has been made to extra jumper cables. Can anyone advise what these were used for? Many thanks Tim
