  1. Good afternoon everyone! This may be a long shot, but bear with me…. I know of the model railways clubs in and around the Edinburgh area, but would there be any interest in starting a small group specifically for those interested in O Gauge in or just outside Edinburgh? Just a thought (it may or not be doable!) Robert
  2. Thanks for all your replies, very much appreciated! Some very useful information learned. I have joined the Guild, and decided to try some wagon kits to start with! A couple of JLTRT 12t vans and a Parkside brake van. Also got a few other odds and ends for when the time comes to practice soldering. Went with the Antex irons, if i get good I can always upgrade
  3. Hi Richard, That's the attraction! 4mm is good for space saving, or having a more track etc. One of my other hobbies are plastic military kits, so I have plenty experience with the plastic side. So was looking to move on to the etched kits or at least one with some white metal. Robert
  4. I am the same, spent years with 4mm. The draw of 7mm was the size. Just ordered some JLRT 12t BR vans, so shall practice my skills with them Robert
  5. Hi Marc I was planning on joining, I have heard good things! Having to research all the options for kits etc for 7mm is a bit of work! Thanks for the reply
  6. Hi Craig, yes looking around I wish there was a few more 000s on the balance. Looking at prices of 4mm ready to run nowadays I really felt like the extra money was worth it in 7mm, I once had a san cheng 4mt tank and it felt a bit more like you where getting something for the money.. planning on the kit build route this time though
  7. Thanks Brossard! I will definitely have a look, all seems a bit daunting at first
  8. Hi guys! Relatively new to 7mm modelling, having made the move from 4mm. Initial plan is to start with some wagon kits, and when my confidence builds move onto a locomotive. Can anyone suggest a soldering iron they have had experience with? Doing a bit of research and I would preferably like one with a temperature control Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated Robert
