Another nice bit of modelling.
What was the purpose of the original?

"Barfleur" was the only Barrow Road jubilee I ever saw outside preservation. Yet photos of it seem rare.

The low level shots show just how imposing the shed was: a true cathedral of steam. Your model looks like we could walk inside... if only.
How utterly disappointing it must have been to get as far as glimpsing inside the shed, let alone the workshops at the rear, only to be summarily ejected.
Still following this build with much interest, thanks for recreating a place I wish I could have gone to.
As an aside, is the loco on the pic of the real shed, my favourite, 45685?

Looks amazing and runs well too.
I can just imagine riding behind that, coming out from under the roadbridge and seeing all the locos lined up on shed, trying to get as many numbers as possible, then, as we passed under the next bridge, asking, "Did anyone get the number of that Brit/County/etc etc at the back....?"

The prototype for the Airfix Pug, 51212, can also be seen on one of those two roads in some photos of the shed.

Looking good, although as a spotter, I was disappointed to see the shed almost empty...must have been a working weekday, very disappointing for the local spotters.

Loved that. Must have been a lovely shed to pass, put frustrating for spotters, out from under one bridge, quick glimpse of locos, under another bridge and away...
And all that in the days before speaking the numbers into a voice recorder....

Superb. Is that turntable just temporary, for gauging, then?
I have to say I do look forward to these updates, when I search Barrow Road and a new one comes up, there's always a sense of excitement.

Great to see more progress, I'm glad those roads off the 20' turntables will be able to be used, I've seen photos of 82E Pugs stabled there.

That last pic reminds me of my build.

Ha! Takes me back to spending an hour or so turning down the heads of the track pins supplied with the chairs to make them a bit more prototypical. Then drilling the mdf so they were a tight push fit.
Time consuming, but somehow very satisfying, the bits provided make the job quite easy to do right.
Don't forget to hold onto the jigs and return them to MetalSmith, who re-use them.
I'm just thinking about my build, and wondering about fitting some similar chairs, or others(?) to the rails on the bridge itself, the build requires it held in place using rail-joiners soldered to the bridge surface, leaving the rails free to expand. Not sure how prototypical that is.......

Can I ask if there's a reason why the droppers come through the board and are then soldered to another connector, BEFORE being soldered to the busbar? Why not straight to busbar? I'd have thought the more soldered joints, the more chance of a fault?
Or am I not seeing something?

You could do worse than look at the ground cover on Steve Fay's Cardiff Canton, or Ranelagh Bridge.
O gauge, but some of the effects were excellent.
