    Cleethorpes if you lived in what is now South Yorkshire, the mining area around Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster, and up as far as Wakefield and Leeds. Used to be loads of excursions.

    Probably. Half of the West Riding seemed to visit Cleethorpes in the summer for the same reason.

    Interesting. I wonder what the graffiti on the 81xxx means. Amusing to see all the French folk well muffled up in coats, scarves, hats etc. We often go to a local market on what would ne regarded as "mild" days in North Lincolnshire, and we are amused at how they all wrap up when we are often in sweatshirts or light jackets. In North Lincs they'd be described as "nesh", unable to stand the cold.😆

    I think the A4 in JVol7010 is likely to be 60015 "Quicksilver". Evidence is a one word name plate with rounded corners.

    Or the stuff sold in mastic tubes for styrene and PE coving. Another good adhesive for it is Acrylic Sealant, again in mastic tubes, and Decorator's Caulk also works.

    Went to Manchester last week. Scunny to M60, about 65 minutes. End of M60 to Portland St, near Piccadilly, another 40minutes. Even worse coming out. And don't get me started on bus lanes, one way streets, buses and taxis only etc etc etc.

    Do you know why they are spending money at those locations? I gather the reason the Limoges to Angouleme line remains closed is due to a lack of money?

    And is your switch the correct type? Momentary, also known as passing contact is the one you want. If you've got the wrong type it'll damage the new motor.

    I wonder if anyone knows anything about the above? It's a name given to long trains, travelling between the Calais area to Spain via Port Bou. Some seemed to originate up near Luxembourg. Most seem to go east of Paris, then Dijon, Lyon, etc. But before the last year ended I'd picked up from a Facebook group that SNCF had either lost, or dumped the contract, and private owners would take over? Anyone know?

    Looking good. My experience with French telephone technicians tells me your neighbour will be very lucky indeed if the machinery doesn't turn up anyway and redo the job...

    Have you looked at Ragstone? Much of the A4 stuff was/is common with the A3. Some MAY also still be available on selling sites from either the Hachette Scotsman, or more recently, the Hachette Mallard. But be prepared to do research: you'll need to find out which issue your part/s is/are in, and some are now £££

    I found it on a Facebook site about SNCF. It would appear to be a map of the entire SNCF network, showing trains, their speed and direction, signals, permitted line speeds etc. I've not had time to do any more than look, briefly.

    On many diesels, the loco could be named/numbered differently on each side.

    Another vote for Severn Mill. They come as precut sets with any relevant works, or shed, plates included. Have a look at their website.
