Surprising, the power of the wind. This year I've seen it lift and blow over a water jet cut stainless panel measuring 1300 x 600, complete with two 40mm uprights and 15mm strengtheners top and bottom, total weight around 15kg. And it was leaning against a wall at an angle of about 15 degrees from the vertical while I drilled the base for fixings.

Yep, been there, done that. Our bidet ensured no soreness that a friend who underwent the same procedure, reported from the preparatory phase. Gas and air...but it ran out early on, leaving me in discomfort. And boy, was I hungry afterwards...

Could you attach a couple of cylindrical pegs pointing down, under the front corners? Then drill the baseboard at the appropriate place before gluing in bits of tubing to fit the pegs.

Have you tried YouTube? There was/is a guy on there doing an imaginary urban line going into countryside. His videos were informative and interesting.

C3412. Are you sure the train originated at Barnetby, Dave? An important junction, with lines to Scunthorpe/Doncaster/Leeds, Lincoln and Worksop/Sheffield in one direction, with Grimsby/Cleethorpes and Immingham in the other. But I was unaware of any trains starting or terminating there.

Lidl also had a gas powered soldering kit.

Where I live we have a timber merchant, Howarth Timber, who will cut full sheets of any ply (or mdf, chipboard etc), according to a cutting list you supply. This service costs very little in the scheme of things. As to table saws: yes, a useful tool IF the sheet material you are working with is already small enough. I own two, a Ryobi €140 job, and an Evolution Rage 5S at €250. The former only clamps the sawing guide at one end, so heavy, or long, stuff can deflect it as it passes through. The latter clamps both ends and has neat extending tables. Having sid that, half a full sheet would still be the most I'd want to start with. Yes, warped or twisted wood can be made true, but it's not easy. And it comes out quite a few mm smaller than its starting size. Could I suggest you watch a few YouTube videos on the basics before splashing out on any table saw? You can get an awful lot of plywood cut accurately for £150. I would, however, look for a used chop saw, sliding saw, mitre saw etc. Invaluable for cutting strips to length, and can easily be made to do repeat cuts at a chosen length.

Earlier this week Lidl had a sanding/grinding set for minidrills that might suit the Ferrex (Aldi) minidrill. I think it was £4.99.

Mrs JeffP says is there an "Action" store near you? She gets loads of flower arranging stuff there, including PVA, and the prices are low. Lots of what they sell carries labels in Dutch and English.

Puckeridge, Bishop's Stortford, Harlow, Brentwood, Chipping Ongar, South Ockendon, Tunnel. Then a stop at Farthing Corner services, before Dover and a British Railways ferry to Boulogne.

PVA? Tried to buy it back in 2002, no-one knew what I was talking about. I ended up bringing four 5l plastic containers from Screwfix, in one of two box trailer loads that went to the house. Still got one, and I regularly take Wickes water resistant wood glue, 500ml. I'm constantly surprised yo find out that I either can't get certain stuff in France, or the price is exorbitant. And yet, when I first went into a French DIY shed, I was delighted to find a genuine Dremel chuck for a decent price, and metre lengths of brass in various diameters for very modest sums. Even now, I look at the prices of the bits needed to make a double electrical socket, and shudder.🤩

I spot one of the PWM locos. Didn't know they were available in N gauge? I always thought pictures of the rear of the shed from the level crossing, had atmosphere. There's a good one on the internet of 1200 "Falcon" there, but I don't think you can get that in N?

Went to Bordeaux a couple of times while camping at Canet, about 20 miles north of Beziers. On the first occasion I was to catch a train to Paris. It arrived behind a C-C6500...😁but that got removed and a B-B9200 was substituted. Disappointed. The second visit saw me visit the shed, then take a train to Lourdes for a visit to the shed there. On arrival I found Lourdes shed closed, empty except for two B-B4700 locos awaiting scrapping😒. So, back to Toulouse. My train back to Beziers left on time, stopped, reversed back into the station, while a multiple unit smouldered on an adjacent line, having caught fire on it's way east. We eventually rolled into Beziers at 12:20 am, instead of the 21:10 posted arrival time. My wife was none too pleased, as this was pre-mobile phones, and the campsite was in total darkness. I even had to leave the car outside as the gate was locked. The joys of trainspotting, eh.

Got a one line email saying my kit was being posted the next day. They are either very busy, or real life is getting in the way.

Now see, there's the difference between someone who knows what he's doing, and dabblers, (me).😁 When you mentioned problems holding stuff, small parts etc, my mind immediately pictured one of those mushroom-shaped things with moveable pins. Actually soldering something in place as a handle never occurred to me...but what a brilliant idea. Thanks Rob.
