  1. There's a refinery at Saltend. Or did you mean where did the tanks go?
  2. Got a one line email saying my kit was being posted the next day. They are either very busy, or real life is getting in the way.
  3. Now see, there's the difference between someone who knows what he's doing, and dabblers, (me).😁 When you mentioned problems holding stuff, small parts etc, my mind immediately pictured one of those mushroom-shaped things with moveable pins. Actually soldering something in place as a handle never occurred to me...but what a brilliant idea. Thanks Rob.
  4. Sorry to ask this again, but does anyone know why they aren't responding to me again? I'm aware they have other jobs, but have had no response to two emails.😕 Trying to get delivery of an outstanding order.
  5. Sorry, should have said, 7mm scale, so Slater's wheels, no quartering problem. And the small downward movement would be less than 1mm.
  6. Basic question. Sorry if it's a daft one. If you introduce a tiny amount of downward movement into the centre driving wheels of a 4-6-2, lightly sprung using wire, like Jazz does, do the coupling rods have to be jointed?
  7. Despite Selby being only 30 miles from us, we never saw any at Frodingham.
  8. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/234038554270?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=iSOPBDgNQPq&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=SR2mx3FtSk2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Others are available.
  9. He won't do custom, but may have your choice in his range?
  10. Those are called coach bolts. I avoid the real ones like the plague unless they are stainless steel, as they rust and even tear sheet metal apart, then spin, rather than release.
  11. Is your tax return for France? French forms baffle me, and, unlike the UK, and DESPITE their much vaunted acceptance of other cultures, just TRY getting anything in any language other than French-legalese. 😡
  12. Would you mind explaining what the brass beams do, please Michael? I thought beams linked two pairs of wheels?
  13. Found your screws on a well known auction site. Available in brass or stainless steel, post free. From a site I've used for stainless fasteners for a 25 year old car.
  14. The Sybics seemed to spread from Dijon Perrigny. I remember visiting in around 1995/6 and there were quite a few brand new ones awaiting acceptance.
  15. Ah, sorry, you're right. I must have a blind spot towards Ilkeston after the last nine month's goings on at my football club...
  16. Recently drove across Spain, twice, doing Col du Somport- Jaca- Huesca-Zaragoza-Teruel-Murcia-Mazarron, and return via Albacete, Madrid, Burgos, San Sebastian, Irun. Despite our hotel at Teruel being opposite the station, the only loco I saw eas at Jaca, heading away from the town eastwards, on a container train. It was modern looking, and carried a large number 70, the logo began with "Med..." Anyone identify it for me? Our routes often paralleled railways for quite long distances, both classic and high speed lines, but we didn't see another train.
  17. Not railways, but those sorts got everywhere. Bloke with a smart suit, shiney shoes and a flash car arrives. He's titled "advisor". He takes home around 50% more than you do. He sits and watches you doing your job, occasionally making notes on a clipboard. Later, he tells you you're not doing it right, could do better. Him being an "advisor" you naively ask for advice on how to improve. His response? "Ah, that's not for me to say, that's for you to find out". True story.
  18. I loved the set taken near the Trent at Gainsborough, Gunness and Burringham. J2168, Keadby Bridge is now a very fetching dark green. It's actual name is "The King George V Bridge", but locals all just call it Keadby bridge. It used to open, but once refused to shut due to expansion, so no more. It still carries the A18 as well as the main Doncaster-Scunthorpe-Immingham/Grimsby railway line, and has a fearsome bend on the road at the eastern end, where articulated lorries need the entire road width. And with five nearby working wharves, sadly all just road connected, Still quite a bit of traffic. And Burringham? Your dad would have been standing in that parish to take the photo of the bridge.
  19. How on earth did you take J6809? It looks like you were standing in the middle of the murky Trent. And the currents look dangerous.
  20. A wooden "drilling table" from mdf, ply etc is useful. Glue and screw a piece of 25 mm square timber with planed and square edges across the centre of one side. This can then be the bit held in the drilling vice.
