  1. I've been testing my CS versions following the article above as I had the same problem. As I was looking at them I realised one coach out of my 6 has the light on the side illuminated when the carriage lights are on. So do I have one that's working correctly and 5 not, or 5 right and this one needing some attention to 'black' it out? I also thought at first that the lights in the 3 sleeper coaches weren't working at all, until I turned the coaches round so I could see the other side!
  2. Note this is just a query, NOT a complaint / criticism. Having already got the Rugby Cement variant I have just bought some of the Castle Cement variant. Having looked through the running numbers I've discovered that of the former pack H contains STS 74034 and pack I contains STS 74041, and these are both in pack W of the latter. Is this how it was in real life? I'm guessing the answer will be YES as your research is usually meticulous.
  3. Most things you find in museums are relics of the past which nobody wants anymore
  4. Surely it just means the public can use it as a footpath but not a highway
  5. Autumn 1998 (they weren't monthly back then) - Ryde St Johns by Mike Bunker. Happy to photo the other pages if wanted
  6. And call it something like .... British Rail

  9. Ypu will need a power feed somewhere on the largest part of your overall loop. You will need to isolate the 'V' between the point into the siding and the point into the loop - with a 2nd feed between the points. You will then need to isolate both short loops on both sides of the 'V' - with a feed to each loop managed by a simple 2-way switch (assuming you only want to use 1 loop at a time!) You don't need isolate the siding as it isn't continuous - however you won't be able to stable a loco there, so it may be easier to isolate anyway and utilise a switch. I'm surprised nobody's pointed you in the direction of Brian Lambert's excellent website for all things electrical - https://www.brian-lambert.co.uk/Electrical_Page_1.html
  10. Another layout where the foreground and background appear to merge seamlessly - how do these guys do it?
  11. Very sad to hear this - must dig out some of his music later
  12. I would have thought some copper strip, or similar, stuck to your baseboard with contacts inside the signal box, so when placed on the board they make contact with the strips
  13. MHA's only £55 at Sawyers Models - http://sawyermodels.co.uk/?product=acc2545mha-ews1-accurascale-ews-mha-33-1-tonne-2-axle-ballast-spoil-box-wagon-x3

  15. I'm sorry I'm unable to help with your track building, but I am looking forward to seeing your layout develop as I've just moved away after 30 years in the area and I've had many a walk with the dog along the disused branch line. I presume you're planning on building the station roof with all its glass panels?
  16. I've re-checked my stock and there's definitely no number 47 - however that's not to say Hornby didn't produce one.
  17. How is this referred to in official circles? I'm aware the owners of the James Bond franchise have copywrite over things like double-O seven and ooh-ooh-seven so I'm curious as to what you say when you drive it. I remember when Peugout brpught out their model 3007, they has to refer to it as the 3 thousand and seven.
  18. They'd probably think it's a designer accessory and ask where they can buy them to wear round their necks
  19. Pete Waterman used it to good effect on his Leamington Spa layout - I've attached a photo (hope you can read it alright) of the relevant text from the October 2007 edition of British Railway Modelling
  20. Ask if any RMWeb'er is going stateside (or indeed anywhere you need to ship to) on business / holiday and could manage in their hand luggage - don't know what the sum of internal UK & US rates would be

  23. Apologies for being the 'apostrophe' pedant, but ... your 1st use of the word 'its' should have one your 2nd shouldn't your 3rd should
  24. Isn't that something worn by a lady with a rather large chest?
