  1. There's a 170 which does a passenger service from New St to Nottingham in the evening which then goes back to New St ECS which runs via Alrewas and Lichfield and the cross city line. I'm presuming this is a move to keep this diversion route on the drivers cards as it's used on weekends when the Tamworth route is having engineering closures. Not ECS but it's followed a couple of hours later by the last Newcastle - New St passenger which I presume is run this way for the same reason. This train being the only passenger scheduled service over the South Staffs Line, not that it's much use to those in Burton or Lichfield as its non stop south of Derby !
  2. Thanks, as a matter of interest do you know who is doing Wantage stuff ? Is this on shapeways ? How about the Brill Tramways coaches in 7mm ? I've seen you've done the Metropolitan rigid 8w but I'm thinking about the 4W tramway coach and the pair of bogie cars built by Bristol, picture and drawing of the latter in the OPC history.
  3. You seem to be moving into Col Stephens territory with various tram based rolling stock, would you be interested in the tram locos bodies ( not Jane + Mary ) of the Wantage Tramway ? Might be interested.
  4. Like a lot of good threads this turns up things you've never heard of like these 3D models of LNWR stock, most interesting ! Can I ask how you find the paint going on to the MDF ( I believe ) sides ? Seeing as it can be a bleep to hold paint sometimes.
  5. Sharpthorne really needs to go to a home which will cherish and restore her.
  6. Looked even better if that's possible in the flesh, quite exquisite. I've ordered a blue one. So many possibilities for light railways with this.
  7. Maybe you're having better luck than I am, but all I get it a rapid flickering of the website and then crashing out. I'm using Safari on an IPad. As I said, I'll try in a week or two.
  8. The correct website seems to be ' 422modelmaking.co.uk ' however I found it impossible to read the site as it keeps crashing after a second. Also the ebay page will not allow you to follow the seller as there is a problem with that as well. However you can watch the G1 models and keep some kind of link until these problems are sorted.
  9. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/135468-7mm-huo-by-accurascale/&do=findComment&comment=3222085 Don't all faint at once !
  10. I seem to be deep in conversation with Phil, Tim is as usual playing the tall dark and handsome part watching over the old Duffers. What were we talking about ?? Haven't a clue ! Well done chaps, quite delightful and one to remember and hopefully do again. There were some really well wethered 7mm 16ts there, I even asked how they were done, can I remember ? John.
  11. Really am impressed with this rolling stock. Using classic methods which aren't seen too often these days mixed with Peco parts and evergreen to produce simple but effective light Railway stock, well done !
  12. I do like your free lance coaches, very effective. Have you mentioned what chassis and underframe bits you have used ? I do think a lot of us are going to have a bash at a light railway what with all the lightlocos coming along, just need some coaches !
  13. Not any of mine but rather wonderful trove of early diesels at Chasewater including Motor Rails https://chasewaterrailwaymuseum.blog/2018/06/11/more-old-photos-diesels-etc/
  14. Thanks to all for a lovely show. I must be in the running for the one who traveled the shortest distance, my car making it a grand total of 8.2 miles. I have traveled far further and seen far less that interests me ! Small is truly good We've all got our likes so it would be remiss to pick out mine but I must say Sheep Lane mightily impressed me with its sense of space on a small layout. Not that I'm biased being a fellow taff ! Well done all, more again next year please !! John.
  15. I'll have to get some of my snaps up of the locos at Chasewater.
  16. Some very nice photos there, well done sir. Finding different views on such a short line can be difficult but you've managed it !
  17. We need a photo book on the lines and yards to the South of the line in the Newport area, the eastern valleys and main lines have been covered to a great extent, Uskmouth never as far as I know.
  18. I heard the stories that it had been up to Radyr as well but never saw it happen. Never saw it on Canton either but was stood on the General once and was told by spotters that she was on the front of Canton, nothing else on their list being any use to me I didn't bother doing the walk down, something I somewhat regret now. Furthest West I saw her was on Pengam Bridge going into the docks.
  19. Spent my trainspotting years there and agree entirely as to the lack of photos of Westerns in South Wales in books. A very lopsided historical view of their work is then presented to those who were never there. I've seen a lot of Western books in the last few years and passed on the lot because of this. Bri, we need some of the great photos as seen on the Railways in South Wales Facebook page turned into a book !
  20. I was going to say she used to occasionally turn up in Cardiff docks, and There has been a recent report on FB of a rescue move taking her down to Baglan Bay on a tanker train after a 37 or 2 failed somewhere near Newport, this happening in the early hours.
  21. How would we motorise the '0' gauge 3D body that's been discussed ? Has anyone tried ?
  22. Brilliant ! Better than I thought, well done chaps my Col Stevens model is go !
  23. I live about 75 min away from Kettering on a good day and would have gone. It started snowing yesterday at 4-30 and continued until 10pm ish. I went out last night to help out a neighbour and found that our local authorities had done no gritting whatsoever on local roads and that therefore they were in an awful condition. I skidded going around a roundabout in 2nd at 12mph and I saw a pair of police cars both with blues on going the other way at around 15 mph ! Sorry the main roads are probably ok but seeing the state of my local ones I'm not going to risk ending up in a smash just to go to a train show. Amazed it not cancelled and if they didn't have it even more amazed they did not have insurance cover for bad weather. The stuff I wanted to buy I will now get from people's websites, no big loss I guess.
  24. Don't we have a list of the traders NOT going even if it's Purely an unofficial one ? If most of the trade does not go for reasons which are similar to what Paul Martin of EDM has said I for one don't blame them in the slightest. As it's an good hour for me to get there if the trade isn't going then for me as a non member there would be little point in going. Unless there is a dramatic upturn in conditions I'm not travelling, sorry.
  25. Ouch ! Have I struck a nerve ? Don't think you quite get my point. I can go to at least 3 general markets in nearby towns which have stalls selling magazines by the hundred of all sorts for men, for women, for children, from the General to the specific these include aviation, cars, lots of cars and a few railway. These are being sold by traders who obviously have a supply from a legitimate seller in the trade NOT some back street back of a lorry idiot whoever that is. Now either these come from publishers or from distributors I honestly don't know. They probably are returns from high street shops which can still give some small return to the industry rather than be pulped at yet another cost, what on earth is wrong with that ? If I wanted a particular copy of something then I would buy it from a paper shop, do I do that ? Yes I do, if I see copies of magazines on sale for a pound in good condition and they catch my eye and I buy them what on earth is wrong with that ? Who am I diddling out of his hard earned crust ? I bet you have gone into a remainder book shop and done likewise and felt quite pleased in the process, do you buy things via Amazon at reduced prices, I bet you do, what on earth is wrong with that ? I reject your attack on presumably me for being " Ill informed folk expecting something for nothing " in what sense am I ill informed ? Neither do I expect something for nothing, do you go into smiths and spend £50 a month on magazines ? If you do well done, some of us don't spend so much. I would say I spend £12 a month on around 3 magazines, I don't buy certain ones every month only those with something I need, however like most people I can't resist a bargain and will pay the odd pound where I wouldn't spend £4-5. That sir is human nature and you won't change that. Why you feel you are intitled to attack me for that god only knows.
