  1. At least Gulf tankers are correct for the Black Country, the storage depot was opposite the site of Albion station across the canal on the Stour Valley line, under the wires but all the other features of the layout are present, just over the out of use level crossing from the Oldbury Road building.
  2. Excellent layout, saw it at Stafford, nice to see a layout that captures the feel of the region it is based in with no trains in sight. Great backscene, excellent grotty canal (despite lack of bikes or other scrap metal, and no sad individual fishing in itl), slow trains were the rule on freight only lines in the West Midlands, only main line B'ham to Wolves saw anything quick under the wires.
  3. Despite the fact that the current Albion ground is by the Great Western line by the boundary with Handsworth and the previous Albion ground was at Stoney Lane on the way from the town towards Walsall and Sutton Coldfield, there is a suggestion that players lived and worked in the Albion region of Greets Green and adopted the name before it had a permament home.
  4. Brilliant use of a building half a mile from my grandmothers house, and for use in a model railway setting. The front of the building faced onto Oldbury Rd, and to the rear of the building until the late 1960's to the best of my memory there were railway sidings with cobble setts around them. The ungated level crossing across Oldbury Rd from the Stour Valley line at Albion Station was still in until mid 60's.The location of the tracks can be seen on the Alan Godfrey Maps Old Ordnance Survey Maps of Greets Green from 1902, but not all the lines survived from then.. The last time I went past on a double decker bus that could see over the walls (20 yrs ago) the tracks and cobble stones were still visible in places. Hope this helps you with the layout plan. I can send you an E-Mail copy of the location on the map if you like.
