  1. Thank You. coming from someone of your Calibre of work that means a lot! There is still much to do like fading the yellow ends and roof weathering, but I just don't seem to get much time to do any Modelling lately thanks again. Trailrage
  2. Been on the Fence about this one since the announcement of this, but even the Excitement didn't persuade me due to a distinct lack of Disposable income. However SWMBO Convinced me to take the plunge and go for one. I just hope it will run with my 68 as I don't use DCC.
  3. Terrible news this. Been Buying stuff from yourselves for well over 35 years and have had nothing but good service from the very friendly staff I have dealt with. Its always sad to see an establishment as this go but at least they can on their own terms. Too all Staff at Hattons. Thank you for your excellent years of dedication to our wonderful Hobby. I wish nothing but the best for all of you in these uncertain times. Thank you muchly. Trailrage
  4. Your absolutely right about the Cycling industry. UK Distributer More and Large Closed last year as did Isla Bikes, Raleigh is under "restructuring" Cycling sports group in Poole looks to be closing, and something like 200 odd Shops have gone over the last year. Seriously worrying and difficult times in the Retail industry.
  5. Hello Gareth. Thank you for that. I hope business is going good for you all especially after hearing the very sad news of Hattons Closing. Kind regards Trailrage
  6. The Warrior cradles will be great for me as I'm need of two of them. Cant see them listed on tour site though. Are they still being made? Cheers Trailrage
  7. There's some heavily modified Hornby models here. I have two of these to see what can be done. Its a great Sight with some incredible Modelling. EM Gauge Layouts, Models & Projects (emgauge70s.co.uk) Cheers railrage
  8. It certainly was common to see just the outers mixed in with 'FSA/FTA sets down to Southampton from around 1998 to around 2005 with Freightliner 47's, 57's and 66's.
  9. Heres some shots from Flickr. At some point the Containers were repainted Blue.
  10. Whilst I've been at home with a nasty virus, I've managed to do a bit of weathering on an old Lima 60 using Humbrol Dark Brown Wash and Matt 62 paint. Highlighted areas of the Bogie Axles and suspension with Blue/black was and Railmatch Oily Steel. Not perfect and still need some more doing to it such as Roof and fading / patching of the yellow ends as well as details such as Wipers, Horns, Bogie steps, front Handrail replaced , Lamp Iron. And in the absence of a Shaw plan detail Kit I have weathered the grilles again with the Dark Brown Wash and highlighted areas with a Humbrol Blue/ Black wash. It will never be to James Makin's standard but I'm Pretty pleased so far still contemplating making my own Second man side windows as they should be two piece not 3.
  11. I only use Code 75 Electro frog and the Current Code 100 Uni frog on Little Mans Layout so I cannot comment on Insulfrog but its super Smooth with no hesitation at all.
  12. Earliest Shot is the one on the First page which shows it in BR Black sat on a BR Grey Weltrol Best I could find was these Photos Black and White Photo from 1957 which I assume would be original Black. Photo of Pre-Tops No20 from as late as 01/03/79! Earliest Phot I can find in Tops is 08/08/80 Even if your not on Facebook Its worth it alone for a group called No20 Reading Signal Works Loco as there are Photos on there most likely never published including a Colour Photo of it (unknown date) in Weathered Black, a B/W Shot of it in Black on the Bufferstops with the Level Crossing still intact, a great shot of it as 20 with a few wagons at the old Motorail Terminal situated behind the Buildings on Platform 9, running light on the through Line between Platforms 4 & 5 and even a Photo of a page from a 1971 Railway Magazine which says Reading Shunter Repainted which states it was in BR Plain Green at the time it went to Blue. Although the General consensus is that it was in fact BR Black. Highly plausible when you consider that 01001/01002 were still in there original Br Black (albeit with Wasp Stripes) when renumbered to Tops. Fascinating stuff https://www.facebook.com/groups/373708101211611/?ref=share Cheers Trailrage
  13. Found this amazing shot from Western Tower taken in 1966 overlooking the London end of Reading Station. This clearly shows the "Banana Building of the S&T works with Vastern Road Goods Yard behind and the incline over the Girder Bridge in front of it. To the right is the NCL Depot and far right is the closed Reading Southern Station which was being used as a Garage.
  14. This is a real gem and the only Photo I've ever seen of No 20 on the Mainline. There are Photos of it at Reading Depot open day in 1971 so have to assume it was driven to and from the Signal Works. Most likely using the Bridge Connection to the lines at the back of what was Platform 10. Although there was a connection between Vastern Road Yard and the NCL Depot opposite via a level crossing which was later removed meaning the option was to go up the incline from the lower yard to the station via a Girder bridge http://m.ipernity.com/#/doc/305825/24647713 Cheers Trailrage
  15. Here's some shots of the real Loco from Flickr. And a little later in life when it carried the number 97020. . Thank Goodness people took Photos like these. Cheers Trailrage
  16. Well well well. Ordered my BR Blue No20 from Rails of Sheffield on Thursday morning arrived this morning. Thank you Rails for your excellent service. Package was spot on with no waste. Opened it up and WOW it has to be one of the smoothest runners I have. Having seen the original sat at Reading many times as a kid its just how I remember. This has literally become my new favourite Loco. Couldnt stop grinning like a chesire cat. Thanks Hornby for producing such a lovely little Model. Ive attached a couple of Shots on My Little Boys Layout, one on the scales and next to my DJH 02 for a size comparison. Cheers Trailrage
  17. Well it arrive when it arrives. I personally have far more important things to worry and stress about than when it turns up. The Accurascale crew have done the best they can so far but sometimes things happen. It just gives me the chance to store up more drool for when it does arrive! Its been 37 years in the making so a few more months isn't really a problem is it. Thanks again to all involved in making this gorgeous beast. Cheers Trailrage
  18. OOOOOOOO looking good so far although those front lights do look a little chunky don't they. Might just be because its an early ep and unpainted. Nice one Bachmann. Cheers Trailrage
  19. That is amazing news. Well done Dapol. Lets hope its as good as the real thing but if the 68 is anything to go by its gonna be a real stunner. Cheers Trailrage
  20. Well after the relative ease of removing the branding on 73202, I thought I'd give the Pink /White stripes and First branding o 73141 ago to do ths version. https://www.flickr.com/photos/rob50037/15438834465/in/photolist-pwh4B8-peMpSX-9ALCeW-bs6J8M-23vBVtb-PpXTR1-XrM6uG-RCS4xq-QzTmM1-2miUh8J-2mj4jjC-2miZtxo-Qo1x8Q-x27d3S-2obByNs-2obByL8-2mjDRdc-q4mJAu-2oAX5o2-2fhWLFA-qZVgaB-BpRLrT-2cvgm21-23FrdE9-BpJPBf-Yn5ZiA-jZhXW6-pufMCQ-2p63DaQ-Tep7xA-2nUA3Na-Ff3Hgj-nCfRJm-2mErpEu-MGXtdp-iwkkDQ-iwkpfN-iwkLUP-iwkgaR-pwi7zR-pw1i5P-2anjYJs-2kYxxFS-b1yWQv-74NdbQ-2nmZmBn-he2qdB-2nG4sR9-2mCYFs9-92Uuhj Alas no it was a pain in the proverbial. Took about an hour to get this far. Think I might have to use a cocktail stick ans some Isoprol to remove the main density of the colour then go back to t-cut. Cheers Trailrage
  21. Me and littleman just t cutted one side of ours.just need to remove the lower red stripe. Came off very satisfyingly.
  22. Here's a couple of shots of my Boys Dapol/Lima Hybrid. Currently using the Original Lima Cab Mouldings painted up. As and When I can get a Hornby Motor for it I will look at possibly fitting the Dapol Cabs back in. The Chassis had a slot at each end behind the Can Interior to Clear the Dapol Door Glazing Also still fitted with the original Lima Couplings until I can get some More Heljan NEM Tension locks to screw to the Bogies or a Modified Kadee Buckeye. Weighs are self adhesive Car Wheel weights that I've had for years with a Little Lump of Steel on Top. Cheers Trailrage
  23. Well it would be rude not to when its £99 at Rails! Also bought a Body to fit a Non Powered Lima Chassis for My Little Boy. Going to use the Railtech Transfers for these two but want to remove branding without damaging the Paint. Its been said that T-Cut works Best but as there's different types which one should I get to use? Cheers Trailrage.
  24. Yes that's the one Thank you. Trailrage
  25. Apologies don't know happened there. Trailrage
