I went last year and really enjoyed it. The chance to see both the live narrow gauge steam and the layouts certainly made it a different experience, and all at a reasonable cost. Couldn`t make this year but will keep an eye open for future events.

You were there on the wrong day Peter. Cardff Valleys Class 231 'FLIRTS' are making their way into England that way. They're presumably on mileage accumulation trips?
On Monday morning there was one in Hullavington Loop when my train heading for Parkway passed and 3 hours later one arrived from that direction into the Down loop platform at Parkway. I don't know if it was the same one or if it was another one out to play. The morning one was running Swindon to Newport and the later one was running Swindon to Cardiff so it might have turned round at Newport for a second trip to Swindon.
231`s are now in service it is the 756`s which are now on proving runs.

Funny though the exhibitors did not have their bags searched and I certainly bought sandwiches into the hall. I managed to get both breakfast and lunch for £7 ish { 2x Asda meal deal] when a Bacon Bap ; and not exactly a large one ] cost £6.00.

At least they have gone back to printed guides. I seem to remember that for a couple of years the guides for Warner`s shows went digital only. There was an out cry and common sense prevailed. I can`t think who thought that going digital was a good idea !!.

Having travelled on a few of them during my Cornish weelkend last September I found they quite nice to travel on and in a number of cases more than sufficiently well used to need a similar amount of passenger accommodation on whatever will replace them.
But why do they run around with both engines running?
They are being replaced by IET 5 car sets

I believe that the new rule only came into effect this year. Apparently the Model Railway show was the only show that you were allowed to do so.

Alexandra Palace is also a drive in hall and, for anything at all large, it needs to be. We have though managed to get our Society Stand in and out from the exhibitors car park on the old station site and that does make for a faster get-away.
Ally Pally is now only a part drive hall. You have to park by the Organ or near the Rose Window end depending where you are. You can`t drive right into the hall.

Not competing on quantity, but I was amused that the two in Utrecht are opposite each other
They are both the same company, I think that one is a diecast and kit shop, and the other is their railway shop. I may be going to Utrecht
soon so if I get a chance I will check it out

You need to grasp the vast emptiness of outback Australia... That stretch is pretty well smack bang in the middle of 2 police stations - which are 1500km apart. Not too many cops will go 700km to sit in the desert with a speed gun.
Go as fast as you like, but you'll probably hit a camel or a roo!
I thought Australia drove on the left, in the picture they are driving on the right.

I think you will find that Hornby did not go into this in isolation and that several other companies were prior ‘consulted’ with. Whether they opted to climb on the band wagon or not is their business.
And a number now have pulled out. I think that Hornby decided to go it alone AFTER consulting with other companies who initially showed support and cooperation.

Bear here.....
A polite snottogram has been received from the buyer of one of the items that Bear had sold via the 'bay - whilst they are the buyer they're not yet the recipient, as it's stuck who-knows-where thanks to RM. Ar5ebadgers. Their Track n' Trace is a waste of space as well - it seems that it'll record the fact that it's been collected by the Post office but doesn't update until it's actually been delivered. The buyer has announced they're gonna ask the 'bay for their money back - though Bear has received info that suggests Ebay won't take such action until the 20th, so it'll be interesting to see what they do. I just tried to fill out a Lost Item Claim on the RM website but they won't play "because it hasn't been ten days" - even though they collected it on the 7th, and today is the 18th - maybe they don't include weekends? Ar5ebadgers #2.
They do not include weekends ,only working days.
