  1. Theres not just Bachmann making stuff now dont Haidar make some locos too?
  2. And the awful triang model with huge flanges,,,,I remember them being dumped with other Canadian Triang stuff in a UK chain of toy shops early 80s selling with F units for £5ea and freight cars for 75p!!
  3. Well just announced on Welsh TV news that the MURCO Milford Haven refinery will be closing after a consultation period,,,,so no more Robeston workings, get your photos while you can!
  4. Herpa have done a couple of US models like this Buick Grand National, normaly they can be found cheap on ebay.de not ebay.co.uk , also of note is that it seems model cars are sold as 1/87 not HO !
  5. They are very low number hand built resins, but true the prices are rather high,,,maybe 3 or 4 on a parking lot, or do you buy a loco for the same money!
  6. Again look at NEO Models,,,you will be spoilt for choice http://neoshop.replicars.nl/ http://neoshop.replicars.nl/index.php?massstab=43&marke=Dodge http://neoshop.replicars.nl/index.php?massstab=43&marke=Cadillac
  7. The Dutch company NEO make plenty of 1/87 US cars but little expensive as handbuilt eg-- http://neoshop.replicars.nl/detail.php?nr=176631&massstab=&marke= http://neoshop.replicars.nl/detail.php?nr=174788&massstab=&marke= http://neoshop.replicars.nl/detail.php?nr=174793&massstab=&marke= Very nice models, can be found cheap on Ebay
  8. Thanks for the link,,,This livery to me is far nicer than the new black of SJ,,this reminds me of Norfolk Southern in the USA, I imagine very difficult to keep clean!
  9. Well after nearly two months our insurance claim has at last fully recuperated our losses from the flood. We were on a new for old policy, normally this means they 'recommend" several retail outlets that will reimburse you with a like for like or similar replacement of damaged goods,,this is fine for our Bosch white goods as we have a currys electrical two miles down the bypass, however things get difficult when it comes to specialist HO models but now all is settled Ive purchased five new locomotives, four have arrived already and the final loco is on the way, i was very lucky in obtaining the one loco as its been out of production for a couple of years but there was one on a second hand list with an online retailer in Sweden, any way here is some quick photographs of the four here with a brief description. TOP-- Hobbytrade NSB Di6, built as a order for 12 locos by Siemens in Kiel inn 1996 by 1999 they had been returned to Siemens as 'nonoperational" with a plethora of faults ,they they became part of the Disspolok lease pool and served with CFL and NOB in Northern Germany and the problems now seem to have been resolved, some of series now classed 2700 have now returned to Norway and operate with the freight operator CargoLink. BOTTOM-- NMJ NSB/CargoNet Di8, built as an order of 20 locos again with Siemens at the MAK factory in Kiel with Caterpillar engines these were slightly more reliable than the Di6 locos but they havent been without their problems, they now operate within the CargoNet pool but 10 of these locos now operate in the UK with GBRf ,,now dont go looking for them on the WCML as they wouldnt get as far as the next bridge as the large Berne loading gauge means they can only be used within Lackenby and Redcar steelworks. I'm not sure of the colour scheme they operate in the UK. My next two locos come from neighbouring Sweden and can be seen operating in parts of Norway, modellers license is used here!! TOP-- JECO Models , a limited edition of 100 models of the RC3 loco in the now bankrupt open access operator Oftobanen who were based in Narvik Norway, this loco is my only loco with DCC sound. Jeco models are mostly highy refinished Roco models but they are gradually introducing their own range of models. BOTTOM-- Hobbytrade TGOJ class MZ, TGOJ were a famous Swedish operator now part of SJ and Green Cargo, these former GM Danish MZ class locos have become popular second hand buys in Norway and Sweden and can be seen with many operators a claim to fame of TGOJ was the pioneering use of GM 'Class 66" locos in Scandinavia , which will be available this year in HO scale, I will add a blog entry on some interesting items of rolling stock in due course.
  10. Yes thanks all covered,,,,admit nice new items but some things cant be replaced
  11. Well, my modelling of any scale Rhb HOm or HO NSB had to come to a complete halt after we returned from a Ski trip to Andorra to find the house had be flooded severly during our stay away. My recent purchases of Bemo for my HOm and my modern UK outline were destroyed as they were in the rear utility room that was 4ft deep of stagnant water, my Norwegian HO survived thanks to being in the loft, but alas they have had to go into store until we move back to the house in 3 weeks time, Ive lost contact with the hobby and gaining my feet gradually . things are difficult when literally you have to fully furninish 99% of your home and electricals only this week have I managed to sign into RM web, however I will perservere and add more posts soon [ ]
  12. Freight tends to be at night, there is a freight that stops at Finse to unload the stock for the resort to "live" remember this has no road link.
  13. Im not sure the trains are running there today, the tracks look rather snow bound, in fact ive just seen a guy cross country skiing along the line!
  14. At last some decent photos of the FO tunnel loks in use with the Rhb so it gives my loco a use on my forthcoming layout! http://www.flickr.com/photos/johannes-j-smit/4213205929/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/fototak/6461028459/
  15. Ive joined thanks had a reply already,,,,rather than "suffer" childrens Christmas TV last night I took a good look at my coaches, it seems they are that "old" production they dont have end details just door grab rails,,,and alas Im missing two, so if I cant get two anywhere I will try and take some fine wire and make my own, but Im not that good at fine work lol,
  16. Thanks Dutch Master, to be honest ive never used Winco ive always bought my items from mostly germany, as even with the postage they are much cheaper, WINCO seem to advertise much but when you phone itsout of stock, Im buying bits off ebay.de and ebay.ch at the moment as they dont always appear on our UK site even when you state "worldwide", I have my Bernina set for Christmas off my wife off e-bay here in the UK I was very lucky I will have to join the yahoo groups BEMO site and are there any for RhB modellers in English?. Thanks
  17. There in my head at the moment,,everyone seems to model the 3 track station ,,,,i think most continental modellers have a standard layout for the depicting country , I know SNCB modellers love Trois Ponts, RhB modellers seem to model anywhere in Graubunden!!, Its going to be mostly RhB but I do have an interlooper that I dont know what to do with, maybe a part ex not sure as ive had it many years (FO Tunnel lok) I know RhB used them for a time but thats 30 years ago and I wish to model 1990 to today before everything goes to EMU sets, I could really even use it with a set of FO coach stock unless i use modellers licence! As soon as a plan is drawable I will put it on here,,,Im not new to continental modelling, its all i have ever ever done since I was 14!!, but I am new to HOm and Bemo, incidentally i want the layout to be DCC Roco MultiMaus controlled and not sure about the BEMO locos with the 3 pole motors, looks like they will be posted off the the guy in Worcester to sort out for me the same with mt Bdt cab coach but any advice is good advice.
  18. Im planning my layout on three 4ft x 2.5ft base boards, transportable for exhibitions, The winco Bernina set looks different to the one im interested in as I would like a baggage - http://www.modellbahn-voigt.de/D-R-21270-Heidiland-Bernina-Express-Set_1 Ive also (as in another thread) bought some used RhB coaches alas one has no detail pack with it and hand rails are missing,, what do i expect for £15 from a swapmeet!!, any idea where I can get these parts from, I know WINCO but ive been informed they wont supply unless you bought the original item from them,,(they must have good turnover to turn away businesss!!) so any other shops,,,or even BEMO? Thanks for the links,
  19. Im also a starter in RhB HOm, a quick question I would like to ask,,,are D+R models still in business , you see very little of there models available for sale but they do have an up an running website, the same question for STL dut I dont see a web site for their models. Thanks
  20. Not a bad price is it a price of a Bemo coach!!!,,Katos own page in English, http://www.katomodels.com/product/nmi/glacier_exp_e.shtml
  21. Another new Rhb scale!!!, Kato Japan are offering a reasonably priced £70!!! Rhb loco and coach set in N scale, http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10202254 http://www.1zu160.net/neues/news.php?id=2415
  22. Hi take a look at-- http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10147209 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10147210 http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10045666 The last link is the KATO set much cheaper than the TOMIX and i think the same as used in Malaysia.
  23. You can get the former Japanese sleeper coaches in their HO scale by TOMIX and Kato, ive seen them in Malaysia still in the Japanese colours, MP
  24. The shop was in a rather savory area,,the main A34 in Newtown about 2 miles out of the city I worked there from 1984 until 1988 to fund my college but also enjoyed staff discount he gradually changed over to Die Cast models when he relocated to Staffordshire in 1990 but unfortunately the business became insolvent. I remember when a roco electric loco like the BB15000 was
