    Thanks again Steve, the two hitherto "missing" items were well worth waiting for- Phil's article was brilliant and clearly showed what I failed to do when recently painting stonework and Tony-well, inspired and erudite as ever when achieving (for me anyroad) the impossible.     See if you can find a copy of Pryer's "A Pictorial Record of Southern Signals" published by OPC and look at the real thing! I've built several signal boxes from scratch and I'm no expert! If windows put you off, there are kits around that supply signal box windows or you can easily adapt all sorts of domestic windows. For a start, try an "ARP" box of which there were several examples on the Southern-dead easy! Good luck, Tim.

    Yup, a very good question-IMHO a very under explored topic. Ash (the real thing-sieved) would be most suitable, there are also various widely available scenic dressings from the likes of "Woodland Scenics" etc. Me, I use sieved sand from the New Forest or Studland Heath in Dorset-not bad and it's free!     Funny old world-I was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate several years ago but examination and tests revealed nothing suspicious. Because of this (and several friends / relations being diagnosed with Prostate cancer) I have several times asked our local surgery for a routine "check up" PSA test and the reply has always been a refusal-no symptoms, no test. Is this normal NHS policy? Best wishes to all, Tim. (interesting-my last GP told me that the vast majority of men die with Prostate Cancer-note, "with" not "of".

    Especially considering the comments made about a certain transfer manufacturer in recent times, I really thought that my experience (usual disclaimer if I must!) is worthy of exposure! Ordered 'bus transfers from them 1538 hours Monday 6th February, received via Royal Mail, 0900 Tuesday 7th. Very well done to both parties!

    Completely agree-the "Tree" backscene is ridiculously out of scale for "00"-very frustrating, I was going to use mine for a "FoD" plank but will have to think again. What a bu**er. Tim

    If only we could all expect such wonderful and heartfelt tributes! A lovely man and one I was proud to meet on several occasions, the first as previously mentioned, when Iain was behind the counter at Hamblings in Cecil Court. A very sad loss, RIP.

    Er, actually it was Lynmouth, Lynton's "twin", which experienced the "flood disaster" (and so did other places on Exmoor which never receive the publicity that Lynmouth does-doesn't make the event any less dreadful, of course) Not nit picking, purely as a matter of info! Best wishes, Tim.

    Had the same problem-one of the very few that ticked the right boxes was the Lloyds Treasurers account. Didn't take anywhere near 6 weeks to open and apart from longish waits on the 'phone, no problems.(so far!) For a change, must declare an interest-retired Lloyds bank manager! best wishes Tim.
