  1. This is a strange request, not sure where it lays! In the late 90's I bought a copy of the Peco Setrack plan book, and some of the drawings of the layout were rather familiar, for the reason below. As a young lad in the 60's my father had a book at the bottom of his bookcase. It was hardback, probably foolscap in size, printed in black and white, with a blue cloth binding. I remeber very little else about the book, sorry. Does this jog anyone's memory please.
  2. A couple of photos from test runs at the Leeds MRS Open Day at the weekend.
  3. I want to install a coloured light signal on my layout, and I have two Berko standard two aspect signals, on round and one square head. Which one should I use to cover from the 1950s onwards as the layout is planned to cover from end of steam to 1980s. Also what switch should I use. I know that it should be a on-on one but what is the technical term of what I need please? I know what the Hornby one is, R046 two way switch, but when looking at Amazon or Gaugemaster I get confused. Many thanks for all your help.
  4. Interesting comments re getting print copies of October 2020 BRM, tried 1 Smiths, 2 Tesco and 1 Sainsburys and none has had a copy. I used to subscribe, but when the shop copies had gifts, but the subscribers were given DVDs I cancelled my subscription, I didn't need two copies.
  5. Hi Keith, Glad to share. The baseboard is 1.8m x 405mm, the backboard 300mm high and the front part is 100mm high. the ends are 90mm deep, and are designed so that the legs will be supported across the full width of the legs. Under the baseboard is a frame of 34mm x 18 mm timber. Once the track positions were set two supports were added underneath with space for wiring. I used 5mm plywood, but would not do it again, may look at 9mm for the main board and 5mm for the other parts. Hope this is of help.
  6. Point has now been fixed. The attached photo shows the point motors in place.
  7. Today I finished wiring the point motors, using the new Peco Twistlock motors and the new Gaugemaster GMC-WM01 transformer. The motors have worked well, but I have messed up one point when trying to trim the pin on the point motor. That needs to be finished off and then the scenic work can begin.
  8. I have put together a few concept photos to help.
  9. I decided to add a couple of extra and I hope better photos.
  10. I have now added the cork tiles and laid the track with the power drops in place. I then will power up the tracks and do some test runs. One change is the line into the passenger station is completely separate from the goods line, saves have to take a passenger train off and on.
  11. I now have the baseboard to a point to start the modelling work. I need to add a layer of cork tiles and paint them a mud colour, then lay the track and try some test runs.
  12. After spending a few weeks trying a few designs, and now there is little else to do, I have settled with this one. It is to be on a single board, including the fiddle yard, that is 1.8M x 400mm. It is small branch line that runs to the large village on the western edge of Greater London, famous for the hospital. It would start from West Ruislip station into the centre of the village. There will be a small goods facility and a layover siding. On the station will be a small ticket office, inspired by the one at Castle Bar Park, and a kiosk will be added as well. The tin chapel is a model railway club. The large building is a Pickfords repository, a firm from my past.
  13. Thanks. Have been testing locos on they layout, one minor issue found, but would appear to be with the loco rather than layout
