  1. A drawing of the 16" appeared in Model Railway Constructor September 1948. The loco featured has 3' 7" driving wheels on a 6' 0" wheelbase. In addition, there is a drawing of a 12" with 3' 2" wheels on a 5' 6" wheelbase in Railway Modeller December 1974.
  2. Hello Corbs. This is a very long shot, and it may or may not make any difference, but the cylinders look steeply inclined to me. If it is possible to re-align them, try to angle them so that an imaginary line drawn back along the centre line of the cylinders passes through the centre line of the middle driving wheels. May I say I am thoroughly enjoying all your highly imaginative threads, and wish you the very best of luck. -Al.
  3. IIRC, there is a story in the books called "Thomas Goes To Breakfast". From this photo, it looks like he's also been to lunch, afternoon tea, dinner, supper, and down the pub for a few pies afterwards!
  4. Another RTR basher doing freelance. Great! Looking forward to it.
  5. Thanks to everyone for their replies. I find the Ifor built locos quite fascinating.
  6. If you still have access to these plans, could you please tell us in which edition(s) of Model Railway Constructor they were published?
  7. A very quick look at C+L website implies a C+L finished point to be £117. (Kit price of £57 plus £60 professional assembly.) http://www.finescale.org.uk/index.php?route=product/category&path=346_375_377_1082 I hope I have got this wrong. Please correct me if I have! Alternatively, there is, and "always" has been, Marcway, at £27:50p, or if you go down to 48" radius, four for £98! http://www.marcway.net/list2.php?col=head&name=Marcway+00+%26+EM+Pointwork If Peco can not beat this price, I wonder how many people will re-discover Marcway?
  8. Re. the 4-4-4-4. Oops, there goes the wide firebox!
  9. The knowledge on this forum never ceases to amaze me! Many thanks indeed for all your replys.
  10. How does one identify which paper is acid-free and which is not?
  11. .......which is how Hornby should have made "Smokey Joe" in the first place. It would have been much closer to scale than what was produced.
  12. The screw you are after is S1014. It is also used on Triang-Hornby Jinty and B12. http://www.petersspares.com/triang-Hornby-s1014-used-coupling-rod-screw-pk2.ir http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/S1014-X8164-X2-Hornby-TRIANG-VALVE-GEAR-SCREWS-G1B-/361852402492 Hope this helps.
  13. If you need any more lamps, the Dapol C013 pack contains four, though not very economical unless you need station fencing too!
  14. Looking north from Whatstandwell station, the short tunnel under the B5035 has a house on top of it. Scroll to near the bottom of this page:- http://www.crichparish.co.uk/webpages/whatstandwellstationhistory.html
  15. LMS Black 5 by Ian Beattie, Railway Modeller December 1998, and the book "Drawn and Described". This should suit your needs. Also:- Jubilee class, Railway Modeller, December 1965. Model Railways, June 1974. including Stanier 4000 gal tender.
  16. A Stanier/Kitson 0-4-0ST (47000-47004) might be an idea. Yes, the wheel base is 3mm out, but for Railroad that isn't too bad, especially if the body is useful to serious modellers. Also, the Peckett catalogue has an inside cylinder 0-4-0ST with 7' 6" wheelbase, which could be a possibility. https://www.martynbane.co.uk/peckett/slides/page76.html
