  8. Just read the last few pages of this thread. There is a detectable joy and relief that this product is finally appearing. However, I am saddened about the discussions about where the keys are, what they are made of and do they protrude etc.. Not because I scoff at the striving for perfection, but because I can't even see the chairs!
  9. Probably no use whatsoever to you, but there is a drawing of the Fowler version in Railway Modeller January 1965.
  10. Superb. Many thanks for the above pointer.
  11. The little Neilson (and its surroundings) looks fine and dandy to me. Step to it! Details, man,......Details !
  12. "...in conclusion it's been a great journey" sounds like it's the end. It may be the end of the series, but I feel it isn't the end of modifications. We could see post starting with "the other day I found a GBL Class XYZ I had forgotten about, and wondered....." for many years to come. Have faith, fellow travellers. The journey is not over.
  13. In "The British Internal Combustion Locomotive 1894-1940" by Brian Webb, it is quoted as HL3853/35. Confusion may have arisen as the loco was not delivered to GWR until April 1936. So that's it. If anyone starts fighting, I'm going to run home and tell my mommy.
  14. Superb stuff. The word "bodging" should have been removed from this thread 411 posts ago!
  15. Regarding the materials used, I have taken the liberty of uploading an information sheet compiled and handed out by Graeme King at the Nottingham exhibition earlier this year. He was giving brilliant demonstrations at that exhibition and I hope he doesn't mind my actions. Many thanks, Graeme.
  16. I had one of those many years ago. The memory isn't what it was, but I think it was Sandglow, mid to late '70s. Harvest Gold, from early to mid '70s, was more yellow and less rich. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C444471
  17. Poyntons, in the old market hall in Derby, always seem to have good stocks. Picked up an 8F yesterday and at least one boxfull still available.
  18. For those who find that their motors are completely past it, would these be any good as substitute K's motors? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5pcs-12V-13500-RPM-Double-Axle-Soldering-2Pin-Micro-Magnetic-Electric-DC-Motor/121463278485?_trksid=p2046732.c100040.m2060&_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20140107095009%26meid%3Deef16d0e70de4bf3af7bd8864de4062b%26pid%3D100040%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D4%26sd%3D121463278485
  19. .Why should that happen? The DC guys once said something similar about DCC, but here we are many years later still able to buy DC locos, "chip ready" with a blanking plug. Just buy a decoder of your chosen system, a few minutes to fit it and away you go. With the exception of a few ready-fitted Junior and Starter sets, I see no reason for this to change.
  20. This thread gets more and more fascinating with every post. Brilliant!
  21. Surely not insurmountable. There is, after all, a model of an L&Y 0-4-0ST.
  22. Good idea. A large number of highly diverse industrial 0-4-0Ts used a 5' 6" wheelbase.
