  1. It's not, it's a wildcat as already mentioned. Boxy tail structure and upwards pointing exhausts for infrared suppression!
  2. One step ahead of you. Loco is in the post! Transfers will be ordered tonight!
  3. I use either railmatch or Phoenix precision paints, both are very good. As for cantrail stripe I use fox transfers as they are by far the best I have used and the most flexible. Not an easy task though especially if your a beginner. Also on raised sections such as around the cab on the 56 I use a uni posca orange paint pen which is really good. Good luck it takes a good while to get to a good standard.
  4. 56098 is almost complete. Need to find a DCC chip for it, then fit the body, fit wire couplings and fit the detailing parts. Then weather. Never ending modelling for me. Also started weathering 47535 after some detailing work. Finally a bit of a current work bench overview. More to come soon.
  5. 56098 and 37254 are now paint and transfers complete and the generator van is totally complete (bar weathering). Pics later. Just the one pic for now which is 56098 masked up for the painting of the BR arrows! Was supposed to be using transfers but they would not adhere to the gloss finish, very odd. All other transfers were fine and I've never had any problems before, anyway.
  6. I just typed WCRC 31190 into google images and plenty on there. I never knew it was painted WCRC maroon, interesting.
  7. Nearing completion is 37254, 56098 and 67023. Transfers for the 56 and 67 should be going on tomorrow after gloss varnishing tonight.
  8. DBSO and Generator coach now both in yellow with transfers applied this morning. Matt varnish next and then rebuild with light unit etc.
  9. Never had an issue to be honest. Just do as you would with paint.
  10. Should be good for 57001. Few tweaks needed like filling headcode panel etc.
  11. To go with the DBSO, I have also started a new generator van to the latest style. Here it is filled as appropriate and primed. It's now yellow along with the DBSO, more pics tomorrow.
  12. Some spare Hornby class 67 ones I had. They had to be shortened.
  13. Work bench busy as always. Something I wanted to do for ages and now finally in build is DBDO 9708. Major work is now complete and its just finishing touches and prep for paint required. I have made a couple of deviations from the prototype for ease of build. It is a lit Hornby mk2 so the interior will be lit and the directional lights will work as they should. I already have the light board. So below is it in its raw state.
  14. Latest running session below. Still no layout progress but stock is constantly being tweaked. Andy
  15. Interestingly the plates on 68010 are 3D transfers! But if fitting Etched metal plates then I always attach them with sticky tack. It's like a jumped up blue tack that I got with various sound decoders for sealing sound chambers. It very tacky and you only use a very small amount. The plates are held on well but can be adjusted or removed at will. I will continue to use this, it has no downsides. Hope this helps. Andy
  16. Just a few pics of some progress made. Been busy but not posting much, will try and get more updates on the thread as I go forward. 68010 has had plates added, second plough added, coupling removed and replaced with wire coupler and extra socket added to each end as per prototype. Legomanbiffo sound added and just requires weathering.
  17. 66145 EWS/DB livery on a stone train taken 17/03/17 near Twyford. The masts are all up and some of the wires are fitted on the West Country bound lines.
  18. Nick that looks better. I made one full prototype to gauge the height. After completion I got the correct height sorted and sold on the prototype. I didn't want to hack the deck too much (I have enough jobs on the go already)! Don't forget to put a 45 degree chamfer on all the horizontal bars. Looking forward to your full rake!
  19. Looking great Nick. Strangely I have been working on the next pair of RBA's and the next 4x MXA wagons. Also started some Colas 67's. Keep us updated. Andy
  20. As it's been brought up in this thread here is my take on most model rail releases. As the models themselves including coaches and wagons are so expensive the manufacturers only make them in batches. This is also due to how the factories work in China. Thus I treat every release as a limited edition. If I want it I pre-order it. This is especially true with something you know is going to be popular, particularly for me Dapol 68 and Dapol Freightliner HIA wagons, (I pre-ordered these items). For the future Bachmann 37099 and 37884 are going to be extremely poplular, (I have pre-ordered these). Also got my 68's for my pre order price! Anyway back on topic, my 68's have gone in the post to be replaced with good examples.
  21. Honestly not even looked at re-fitting, it looks snapped on my one. After I finding the damaged paint I didn't even consider trying to fix it. I'm sending them back and the shop is going to source replacements. Fingers cross for a couple of good ones.
