  1. 3ft9 x 1ft6.............g'wan, g'wan, g'wan, g'wan, g'wan..........G'WAN. You know you want to!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  2. Great! Thats another operator we can 'Pencil in' Clive!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  3. Theres uproar in Corby about a Cyclepath about a mile and a half long costing about £12m to build.......It would be cheaper to actually build the rest of HS2 than turn it into a cyclepath on that basis. The Whippet Rack may be even more.... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  4. Templegate Wagon Works will be putting an appearance in, with Cath as my co-pilot instead of Clive (he gets a nosebleed if he goes south of Micheldever!). Its her first time on the layout proper so be gentle with her........... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  5. I believe (and the South Wales contingent may be able to bear me out on this one} that Hymeks used to work oil tankers from the Cardiff area to Soho Pool... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  6. Checked up on this one me duck. According to Paul Shannon, who knows his stuff as far as I'm concerned, in his book Rail Freight since 1968; Coal, says that Gobowen was still receiving deliveries in 2004 and was seemingly receiving sporadic deliveries when the book was published in 2006.......So that coal yard could still be your next project. You could certainly get away with the blue 08s, and even the grey one, with the pink hoppers. Go on, you know you want to! Just a thought Disgusting of Market Harborough
  7. Gobowen, just up the road from you, was kicking about quite late on. Not sure when it closed but it was one of the last survivors..... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  8. Sunday shunt, some time in 2007, this stock will be for the next project. It IS going to be a coal yard. Disgusting of Market Harbororugh
  9. Well, a splendid day at Risley yesterday, even though Clive rolled in later than planned! Young Brendan stepped in for a while and aquitted himself well........Sadly no pics of Brendan in action although this rolled in, courtesy of the lads on Cowley Yard. Sadly, we couldn't shunt with it cos it was as long as the sector plate, but it looks nice!! Next stop, Southampton at the end of the month.. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  10. This 'future project' wouldn't be a 1990's coal yard by any chance would it?............. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  11. And after I sent you a write up AND piccies, you still left Templegate Wagon Works off of the list!! You trying to tell me something Craig!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  12. If you look on Goggle earth, the Newark bound platform of Carlton station on the east side of Nottingham stops abruptly at a brick wall! Whether this is a new platform (they're staggered either side of a level crossing) I'm not sure......... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  13. For those of a strong constitution, or those with nothing better to do, Templegate will be appearing along with myself and Clive at the DeFine do at Risley (note, I didn't put Ripley this time Clive) between Nottingham and Derby on Saturday (details in the Exhibition section). We may even run something, but don't hold your breath!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  14. Bumpity bump.... Its this Saturday folks!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  15. As an aside, but pertinent to the thread- what year did coil traffic transfer from ShocVans to air braked vans? Was it a gradual change, with certain larger customers moving to air braked workings before the 'high days and holidays' customers? Or did BR just pull anything labelled VSV out and transferred the lot to air-braked stock in one fell swoop? Thanks Disgusting of Market Harborough
  16. A few questions matey! 1) What do you do about painting the chassis? 2) How is the dirt applied between the panelling and what colours do you use? Is it dry-brushed? 3) Can I borrow 08 900 at Risley! Excellent stuff matey. Got my mojo going anyway! Hopefully 08161 will be pootling about on Templegate soon Disgusting of Market Harborough
  17. Be there or be square! I'm going to be there but I'm only slightly cuboid. Not sure about Clive though.............. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  18. I'm presently considering whether to go sector plate or traverser. It would be better to use 1 hand to move the plate and a pivoting at one end sector plate could be best option but...... I think I will get better alignment from a traverser albeit I would need both hands to square it up, what did you do? I haven't looked at all you posts but I will have a check back through in case you have posted about it. Barnaby If you only have 2 sidings, may I suggest a sector plate linking the 2 with a stop either side. Push the sector plate against one stop and it aligns to one siding, push the sector plate across to the other stop and it aligns to the other siding. Its fool-proof and idiot-proof! Either that or resort to a window casement like I did!! Disgusting of Market Harborough You can get a rough idea from the attached pic
  19. And jolly fine it looks too Nick! Thanks mate... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  20. A couple of pics from this weekends events, featuring Nick Gurneys 08 220. A cracking weekend. Thanks to Clive for his excellent co-pilotry and Steve, Nick and the chaps on the next layout for the generous loan of stock...... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  21. Well, a jolly fine first day on Templegate Wagon Works. Although not one of the largest layouts in the 7mm cabal, we had a fair bit of interest! Many thanks to Steve and Nick for the loan of some splendid rolling stock, much of which is depicted below along with Clive getting to grips with DCC.... Disgusting of Market Harborough
  22. Andy , you ol' flatterer you!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  23. For anybody interested in seeing how the window casement works, Clive and I will be giving demonstrations over the weekend in a ruddy great big barn near Birmingham Airport ........Stand D11. Disgusting of Market Harborough
  24. Bump bump. Todays the day! Templegate Wagon Works will be winging its way to the show shortly!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
  25. Andrew Not a lot in the baseboard construction. 2x1 softwood timber frame with 6mm ply on top. Basically, a bit of string and a pencil to get the radius of the sector plate, cut the curved edge, then attach the sector plate with a screw at the pivot point. Lay the track onto the sector plate ,then attach the casement and its 'stop' (or whatever the stubby bit is called!). You can then line up each track to its respective 'stop' and stick it down. To be honest, its harder to describe than actually do! Hopefully the picture will help....... On another note Templegates 2022 tour continues in St Neots this Saturday, at the Phoenix centre. My star operator the glamourous Cathy and the equally glamourous Ellie (the border collie) will be putting in an appearance in the afternoon, along with my mum!! Disgusting of Market Harborough
