  1. Hi. I mentioned in a previous post on this subject, that I have just bought a gallon of 99% IPA through Amazon. It is, much to my surprise, very easily obtainable, and quite cheap, bought in bulk. It is heralded as a cleaning agent....... just given my laptop a well earned clean using it. I've never used it for paint stripping, and my first attempt with it is going to be an O gauge model, so I need to avoid any disasters. (I've used Dettol before now......... very expensive and an extremely sticky mess to clean afterwards) Regards
  2. I did really want one, but not at any lack of what could be called customer service. Why have we got 4 years "down the line" and there's suddenly a major re-design required ? Where does the comment "built one from the old RJH kit" come from ? I never mentioned it.
  3. Hi. In reference to what I would like Dapol to produce ; I would like Dapol to produce a model, any model, within what could be considered a reasonable time scale. (for example with in 2 years max., preferrably less). I've just cancelled my pre-order for a Class 66 as they've just added a year to the delivery date, with the click of a mouse. ( It's already been 5 years since the announcement) Regards
  4. Hi. Just cancelled my pre-order for this model. I am getting extremely tired of the big manufacturers, very apparent, lack of respect for customers. This thread started in 2019, and Dapol have just added another year to the wait. (I agree with what other contributors to this thread have said ; if they are re-tooling the whole model. it's probably going to be more than one year before we get any model, based on it being 4 to 5 years to get this far) (Heljan have just done the same thing with the two BSO's I had pre-ordered, I have cancelled those as well, adding another six months to the delivery date, with no explanation !!!) I suppose there is a positive to be taken from this ; I saved myself a lot of money. Regards
  5. Thanks for the advice Hal Nail. For the 47 I've already stripped, I went to the local garden center and got a planting trough, rather than the drip trays, which is about an inch larger than a 47 body, all round. Your suggestion will use a lot less IPA.
  6. Hi. I've had some success in the past with brown Dettol, in OO, and I've just done an O gauge class 47 repaint. Totally submerse the item and leave it for 12 hours or more. Couple of problems ; 1. Cleaning the sticky mess off the model, after stripping. 2. Some fogging on the clear window parts ; which is difficult/impossible to remove. I've got another O gauge 47 to strip, and I've bought a gallon of IPA to do that one, as I've heard from posts on this forum, and in this topic, that it is much better to use. As it will be my first time using this, any advice would be welcome. Keith
  7. Hi. Coming in late to this topic. How about an O gauge class 68 ? The artwork is already done in OO, so surely it wouldn't be too hard a job. If they want a really hard job, an O gauge Kestrel would look superb, but very much more a niche model. Keith.
  8. Hi. Rails of Sheffield took payment for three, pre-ordered, TTA's about half an hour ago. Regards
  9. Many thanks for your input. I have managed to delete a lot of the junk, so I can now see what I am doing. 👍 Since we last messaged, I've got everything on my plank, working from the handset, that will be points, loco's, lights and engine shed doors. Just the basic wiring at the moment ; work in progress. Regards
  10. Thanks pj10. From your info I guess we're only a little bit wiser! 😕
  11. Hi. Three months from the last post, and we're still waiting. Maybe they're being shipped on the "Evergiven" and it's got stuck somewhere....... again !!! Regards
  12. Hi all. Just received a copy of a posting by Dapol, that the 66 is now not going to be ready until late 2024, citing redesigned CAD drawings, re-tooling etc. as the reason. Regards Keith
  13. Yes, I struggled a bit to program the panels, and then the accessories into them using the handset.
  14. Hi. My setup uses the facilities built into the cab control unit, and the Cobalt motors. I don't need/want to complicate the system by introducing another system. The cab control directly operates the Cobalts. Hope this answers your question. Regards
  15. I agree Hal. I've just joined this thread, and note that it started in October 2019 !!! Haven't had to wait long have we ???? LOL I've just got a Dapol Class08 (O gauge) and I am very pleased with it ; If this redesign results in a 66 with similar level of detail, IMHO it'll be well worth it.
