  1. I was taking a couple of friends in Oxfordshire to lunch when local white van man ran into the back of my car at a junction. Drivable home with caution but almost certainly a write off and friends still in Banbury A&E being checked out.

    Bu**er!

Correct, country roads by far the most dangerous. Careful about that "little stiffness". That indicates that you, too, are suffering from whiplash as is to be expected when a larger vehicle hits you.

  2. Does anyone know where I can get a track piece where  a OO-9 line crosses over a OO gauge line?

Pricey! Think it may be worth shopping around a bit or even buying from a German boxshifter such as ModelbahnLippe.

  4. I am in a bit of a dilemma about my car, it is 13 years old the question is do I get it repaired or do I spend money buying a newer car, as I feel if the cost of the repairs is greater than the current value of the car is it worth doing. I cannot make my mind up.

How long until it needs an MoT test? Uusually when the big bills come in.

Very low mileage, especially for a diesel. So long as the bodywork is good, you would probably get another two or even three years cheap motoring before too much goes wrong.

Always a tough question. What make/model is it? What mileage?

More fed up this evening as I have learned that our business is not to qualify for the £10,000 Business Interruption Grant. So six months and thousands of pounds down the drain. Is this pub the first in the country to be officially killed off by CoViD.

Worryingly, I think that I am getting used to it.

  8. You've defrosted the Bolognese and the garlic bread.  You've managed to find somewhere selling pasta to top-up your dwindling supplies.  You've bought a bottle of Valpolicella to go with it.  You've set the pan of water for the linguine on to boil.  You open the Tupperware box of Bolognese . . . and realise instantly that its actually a chicken curry you quite definitely aren't in the mood for.

  9. Cannot help but think if i had spent more time doing rather than thinking I might have a model railway to play with during this lockdown.

As it stands I have a gap in the room I am filling with rubbish instead.

However, the impending isolation did make me get off my fat a*s and clear out the rubbish from my late father's flat - three trips to the tip and a lesson in reverse engineering a sofa back into wood, padding and fabric.  Don't we collect a lot of cr*p throughout a lifetime that for anyone else has absolutely no value once the person who so loved them has gone.  I had to be particularly ruthless as it would be easy to go "that's useful", though one week since dismantling destroying his layout I am thinking I should have kept some of that 2x1 for when the lockdown comes!!

Also it has become self evident that I am thriving under lockdown whilst other's are finding it a real issue.  For me nothing has changed, I have worked from home since 2014, I only generally go out to shop or exercise and they are not prohibited.  Ok, I do like a meal out and visits to railway exhibitions but I can live without both for the time being.

For the weekends to come I have three rooms to paint, a house to tidy and plenty of stuff to study so hopefully I don't come down with anything as I am just too busy.

I have not lived on my own for the last 30 years until the recent separation from my wife. I am finding this very difficult indeed as I suspect are most people who live alone.

  10. ll I have just recived my 101th job rejection. Feeling very despondent with the direction my life is going.

      Joseph_Pestell

Are there any Job Clubs near where you live? A good support network.

What sort of job are you looking for? A few companies (very few!) have a more positive attitude about appointing more mature candidates.

  11. Have any European class 66's ever visited the UK?

    1. Joseph_Pestell

      Joseph_Pestell

Some "European 66s" started their life here.

But I guess that you mean have they come through the tunnel under their new identity? That seems unlikely unless any have come off lease in Europe and returned.

  12. I need to respray a Bachman Class 20 in BR diesel green - is it OK to spray direct on the printed livery, or should I attempt to remove the print first - have seen cotton bud and T-Cut method for individual symbols, but what about the overall livery - I am minded simply to spray over it all - please has anyone else done that?

It may well depend on the type of paint that you intend to  use.

  13. Time to Vote in the European Parliamentary Elections.  I've cast my vote, have you?

    1. Joseph_Pestell

      Yes, several days ago.

Not quite sure though if I have ticked the right box. Whatever the result, I am sure that the media will misinterpret it.

  15. What is it with the lavatories in the 3-car 165 units? The lavatorial space is very large, bigger than that of a Voyager and yet the actual 'facilities' are crammed into the corner, so that your knees are effectively in the sink!

Would this be for disabled access (i.e. space to turn a wheelchair)?

    1. Joseph_Pestell

I would never even consider drinking on-train tea. I don't drink that much tea but when I do, I like it to be good stuff.

Did you send with a "read receipt"? As Mozzer says, they may not be getting them.
