  1. Is the tooling exclusive to Rail Exclusive or will it be like the Modelzone Bachmann TPOs and become a general release from Heljan.
  2. Good point Andy, I was musing over it when I noticed this thread as I can see (going off topic) problems arising at shows - looks like a need for pass outs and directions to the nearest cashpoint will be an essential.
  3. The cheque thing could be risky for them as the cheque guarantee scheme ends on 30 June and thereafter anyone accepting a dud cheque will be out of pocket.
  4. Some Dapol production is but a lot is carried out in China - they lost some Britannias when the DHL plane flying them to the UK crashed. To sum up the original question Bachmann - Kader (and owned by them) Hornby - Sanda Kan (who are now owned by Kader) and another unknown manufacturer Dapol - unknown
  5. Noticed a couple of Lyddle End items which had been bid up to around £36 and £46 when I looked last night so it seems as if the barking mad Skaledale prices are getting down to the smaller versions.
  6. You probably would not have been all that happy even if you could - the sheer amount of duff locos I had from them when I lived in Nottingham, a good two decades plus back, that I began to think on exiting the shop with a new purchase I should just turn round and take it back before wasting a trip home and back. Beecrofts as well (Market stall and shop right before the bus station doors in Broad Marsh). Seem to recall Zodiac having a store in Broad Marsh for while. Also going way back in time the Co-Op and dear old Pearsons (recall the admirmal like lift attendent) departmental stores that had reasonably decent model sections. They did open up a small store right in the city centre just off King Street for a while -"Beattie bashing" they described it as.
  7. and ebay is only used by them as additional outlet so perhaps all the TMC stuff should go into a subject on its own separate from this one.
  8. Its a free listing weekend so expect plenty of stuff with crazy prices
  9. According to Kernow its delayed to 2011. The selling ebayer does not seem to have sold anything model rail wise before.
  10. You can easilly make up a cranked Kadee using an NEM Kadee and parts of a NEM tension lock. (Photos details are on the old forum)
  11. Theres a video of the Hornby L1 in action at http://www.model-railways-live.co.uk/News/See_the_new_L1_from_Hornby_in_action!/ which around half way through shows the pony wheels tracking all over the place, just ripe for derailing although it does not.
  12. Wonder if they meant £9 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kit-built-coach-BR-maroon-Parcels-Luggage-/260680876868?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3cb1ca8344
  13. If you want a Portram for such a project its probably price wise worth trying the Ffestiniog shop at Porthmadoc Harbour.
  14. Just noticed three of the Kernow limited edition unbranded Bachmann TTA approaching the close of their auctions with the price on each having reached £24.
  15. I've just had the crazy idea of putting a bus body on a MGR wagon chassis What You mean they have actually done that Class 141 etc you say
  16. There seems to be lot of limited editions commissioned by one retailer being sold by another (ie Frizingall to TMC, various to Hattons or Rails) also what about all those older models (largely Die-Casts) that Hattons keep on acquiring presumably from closed down shops or shops reducing stocks - they are all taken to be new.
  17. What the ???? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Bachmann-009-scale-Kitbuilt-Cream-and-Black-Locomotive-/260667238154?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item3cb0fa670a
  18. Whatever his morals or lack of them in grabbing as many Ltd Editions as he can presumably afford, listing the same items at different prices is in itself barking.
  19. As the lubrication required is limited has a different form of factory applied grease been used as oppossed to that previously which could lock up the mechanism when it dires. Also on the subject of the that locking up grease one thing that I have never been clear about is that once a loco has been lubricated is there any of grease left that can then later on lock up the mechanism. As for the lubrication I use Daywat as I cannot get on with the Dapoil which seems to be far too thin to stay on a pin or bend piece of wire.
  20. apparently ? I assume its been fully tested. Having suffered the springs failing on an Ixion Manor due to a short I welcome the use of the wires but hope the thermistors have been fully shown to protect the model from a short circuit and also not too generate so much heat themselves as to damage the tender body or the chassis. Would those spares fit the Manor ?
  21. That layout must be a decade old as well, as it was in one of the early Model Rails (as distinct from the supplement that appeared in Rail)
  22. Think this has come up before. Its yet another seller who has not read Ebays revised listing discriptions - you have a choice of two defaults; New which then goes on to state in the listing that it is unopened etc, or Used. The alternative is not to enter any item condition and to describe it in the text decription as New opened for the photo, or similar
  23. A preserved layout done well can be popular - Dduallt and Goathland spring to mind. However there is too much tendancy for the anything goes on many which whilst acceptable as a one off can stretch credibility too far. I am working on a layout that can run as late 50s, mid 60s, late 80s and late 00s - the latter two being as a preserved line (the two periods due to trying run the correct locos at that date in contrast to anying goes). This will have a changeable scene across the front of the layout, a BR lorry depot with a small car dealers changing into it being entirely a car dealers and then it has been landscaped as a park with benches in which a vehicle rally is taking place.
