  2. Those Mainline coaches were later sold by Replica and Bachmann albeit not in that cream and crimson livery and today are used as Gordons coaches in the Thomas range
  3. Comparable with or less than Peter Spares charges, two con rod screws £2 N gauge, £6 O gauge
  4. And for which you pay double the price
  5. The old Triang R408 turntable was always Super 4 track. With the introduction of the code 100 System 6 it was provided with Super 4 - System 6 convertor tracks retaining the Super 4 track on the turntable itself (R408U). A System 6 version was planned (R602) but sadly cancelled leading to the eventual introduction of the toy like current turntable.
  6. It's a great pity Pat Hammond's books on Triang/Triang-Hornby/Hornby end in 1996
  7. Given the GW 1 debacle I do wonder what research is undertaken. Correcting might be possible if the logo and lettering is applied such that simply rubbing a cocktail stick on it causes it to break up and be swept away so care can be taken/protetcive measuers applied.
  8. Surely both are Code 100. I think the change came when production shifted to China. However buying a second hand one in a box labelled made in China will not neccessarily be a guarantee that the rails are nickle silver as mispackaged second hand items is not uncommon IME. What might be one on ebay has a starting price of £50 with £6 postage Kernow for example are selling them new for £59.99 plus £4 postage
  9. In that case why does the Dapol instruction sheet refer to the Imperium 1 as the 860019 ? https://wicknessmodels.co.uk/slarti/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Imperium_instructions.pdf Functionally they appear identical and the major difference is there is no srink wrap on the Dapol ones.
  10. Definitely needs new brush springs and seemingly brushes - Peters Spares PS3
  11. For the record the the Lais 860019 (sold at a higher price as the Dapol Imperium 1) has 2 logic outputs so is not suitable for this loco. Its is actually listed as 860019 on the instruction leaflet supplied by Dapol but all their documents refer to Auxs 3-6 to being logic . Lais themselves state .Just to muddle the matter they say the same of the 870019, Digitrains however list it as That again is sold at a higher price as the Dapol Imperium 7 (oddly not listed by Dapol themselves)
  12. Many six function decoders have two two logic output amongst their 6 functions while this loco needs six power functions.
  13. Quite weird how the Google streetview vehicle only went just beyond the railway bridge https://www.google.com/maps/@51.5856068,-3.7738906,3a,75y,277.8h,71.71t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1szGe0vgmJm-LGtnGVGSZzFA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656?entry=ttu
  14. If you use a long length you can get the draft box fitted so that is not protruding forward of the bufferbeam and looks a lot better.
  15. A quick dodge is to drill a hole in a 19 or 20 and screw fix in place instead of the tension lock as shown i n https://www.ukmodelshops.co.uk/other/mti_article.html
  16. Latest Model Rail (no.323 March 2024) has an "Overview" rather than "Review which coupled togteher with the how to open it up parts of an article on detailing it is akin to a review bar any ratings. Regarding BR blue 12052 its states "Sold to Derek Crouch Mining Co - see MR-514"; that I make to be a 2038 issue!
  17. Lais decoder - setting CV53 to 44 then CV64 dimmed depending on its setting (0 to 30) the interior lights on a EFE 144. CV53 is F3. Other CVs are CV49 Front lamp CV50 Rear lamp CV51 F1 CV52 F2 CV54 F4
  18. The search function or narrowing down a selection using the supplied options is often completely useless IME. Locomotives pulls a Guagemaster Track Cleaning pad in its results while Warehouse Clearance - Rail ticked provides various cars, buses, lorries, aircraft, dionosaurs, bicycle, Airfix catalogue and Gunther flying toys etc in its results, and if you then seek to limit to say OO you get no results found. Why is there an option (assuming it works) to limit it to pre-owned but not one to exclude, or is that meant to include pre-owned only when ticked but does so regatdless, A complete shambles.
  19. The "planning application" was made under the same Order that allows elsewhere within it a garden fence, for example to be put up. Reading its terms the footbridge etc required to be authorised by an Act of Parliament and for that Network Rail pointed to the Midland Railway (Settle to Carlisle) Act 1866 !
  20. The chunky valve gear 1980 Fowler 2P and the 1988 8F were last made in 1998. The replacement high detail models of both were released in 2003.
  21. I cut through the pin holding the two parts of the speedo together on my Std 4 2-6-4T as it was plainly out of alignment and casuing the loco to have an up down motion. The two parts were then able to be aligned so as to look right. Would work well for one broken as above as their is then no stress on the glue repair joint.
  22. Maybe someone should try contacting Hornby. There is the other possibility of the factory pulling a fast one and they may not be aware,
  23. Thanks - as yet another recognisible part falls off.
  24. Even though the Lima 47 is too narrow?
  25. Depending on how the lining has been applied it may be simple to remove that on the fenders, some models are easily removed of lining and lettering using enamel thinners.
