  1. Well still getting over the man flu (Proper thing!!!), I've been working on some wagons on the kitchen table. These two are the Heljan OAA's patch painted to show replaced planks, etc. Then weathered as a 'in use' vehicles for a customer. I also have a couple more that will be ready to come off the WB this week. More very soon, including some locos that have been waiting to come off the WB for a little while. Jinty
  2. Jim's kits are superb, a great start in brass kit building, as well as totally enjoyable for skilled kit builders too. I've built a couple in the past, as well as his GWR A20 Toad Brake Van. Here is one of them, which I fitted with working tail lamps, directionally operated through a decoder. I also used some Poppy's Woodtech panelling inside the veranda's. Needed trimming down a bit but helps to finish it all off. You're making excellent progress on yours. Jinty
  3. That looks very good George. Quite a lot can be attained by creating definition between the planking. Jinty
  4. Now I've managed to extract the pictures from my camera, that didn't want to connect to the PC!!! 3 Dapol Brake Vans, converted to Air Braked units. Air pies, Air control Pipes, Partial repaint with yellow and Rail Red sections, Slaters Oleo Buffers and weathered. I'm aware that these should also have roller bearings, but that was not doable on this occasion. Pictures taken indoors, artificial light I'm afraid. 954680 in BR Bauxite Livery with Yellow Air Braked Branding. 954622 in BR Red/Grey Livery. 954636 BR Bauxite Livery with Air Braked Branding More very soon Jinty
  5. A belated Happy New Year to all. Here are a couple of Skytrex Depressed Vee tanks finished off last week. Fitted with Peartree wheels, Slaters Oleo Buffers and Dapol Screw Couplings. Finished in plain grey livery and weathered with some cement crusting here and there and a bit of road dirt. 10819 and 10987. Here are a few pictures: And the two together: Another eleven to come very soon as these were finished last week. David
  6. All the very best to everyone. Thank you all for your input during 2018, I will try to make more updates during 2019!!! David
  7. Hi all, I'm looking for a Lenz LZV100, V3.6 if anyone has one they'd like to sell. Please PM me Regards Jinty
  8. Hi John, I already have, to no avail. Jinty
  9. Hi All, I have a Lenz Set100 with a 5a transformer (Lenz) V3.6. I came to it the other evening and discovered when I switched it on that the 'AUS' was flashing in the display. I pressed the St button to no avail, switched off and had a good look around the layout to see if anything had fallen across the rails, etc. All clear, but once switched on again it still flashed 'AUS' again. I left it as I had other things pressing until this morning. I had a good look around the layout, the wiring underneath etc to see if I could see anything amiss, but no, all was as it should be. I switched the system on again and the 'AUS' was flashing in the display again. I again pressed the St button with no effect. I also pressed the Esc button and this brought up the locomotive address as follows: L:9648 The L was flashing constantly. Pressing escape returned the display to 'AUS' flashing. I disconnected the feed wires from the layout to the base station and it still did the same. So it's obviously a problem with the unit itself, either the handset or the base station. I intend to ring A&H Models up tomorrow to see if they have any answers, but I thought I'd ask here as well. Thanks in advance for any help given. Regards Jinty
  10. A Large and a medium bass reflex speaker, so twin speakers and a very crisp sound, even if I do say so myself. Jinty
  11. That's it, another Bog Cart on Craig's list. Craig's List, isn't that American???? Oh better not go there!!! Nice job on the coaches too. Nice and subtle as coaches and passenger stock were kept sort of reasonable!!! Jinty
  12. Do you know what, I thought I was odd ball (quiet in the corner Mr P!!!), as I've always laid the ballast, then painted the rail sides with a diluted mix of rail grime and let it run down onto the chairs. then once that lot was dry, I attach gently with the airbrush, again with a bit of rail grime, just to tone the ballast/sleepers around the rail base. At least I' not the only one then. I always kept quiet because I did it differently from the 'norm'. Jinty
  13. I don't actually know, sorry. I'm a bit of a sheep on this one as I've followed the crowd!!! Jinty
  14. A couple of things to come off my workbench today. Firstly is a Heljan OAA in Railfreight Red/Grey livery. Patch painted, replacement bauxite door, a couple of replacement planks and then weathered reasonably well. Next up is a Dapol 08 finished in BR Blue livery and numbered as 08062. Fitted weith a Zimo MX644D 21-pin MTC sound decoder, loaded with a Paul Chetter Protodrive sound project with speed lock. The vac pipes have been beefed up, a lamp left on the front footstep and the weathered with a selection of liquids, washes, panel liners and powders. Finished off with the airbrush in a couple of areas. Please excuse the pictures I was fighting failing light late this afternoon. More soon, including a green full yellow face Rat and a Blue 25/3 Rat for the full works each!!! Jinty
  15. Accurate is choosing a nice BR Blue 'Duff' to match which boiler port you've got on yours (Stones, Spanner or Clayton). You'd think they'd all be the same considering that the boiler compartment was designed to accept all three varieties, so they could be swapped around, even the ones built with no boiler (D1782 - D1836 & D1875 - D1900). The 47's are a minefield, but I do love them Jinty
  16. Oh right, I have the WWS one. Yes 31 parts will be winging their way to me this coming week. Jinty
  17. Hi Andy, 47606odin is quite right. The split gears can affect locos that have never turned a wheel!!! The fact that this 47 is being reduced to one motor will give you some replacement gears anyway!!! Jinty
  18. That's all looking really good George. Do you have a static grass applicator? If not you can borrow mine when I see you on the 18th if you want. Jinty
  19. Lovely ground work Steve. I agree with CME about airbrushes. Most of my weathering and painting where an airbrush is used is done through a cheap AB airbrush from a company called 'Everything Airbrush'. I don't think any of my airbrushes cost any more than £30. I use three, two suction feed ones for main colours and a gravity feed one for the smaller detail weathering/painting. I also have a bigger spray gun, which is used for painting larger units such as diesel locos and coaches. You don't half get on with stuff, I wish I had the drive for my own layout that you do. Jinty
  20. I believe that they were put on to designate the vans as 'Air Braked'. I will stand corrected, but all the ones I've seen with the yellow panels have been AB. I'm also doing a grey one as a Railfreight version, only painted the red at the top and fitted the air piping up to now, but should be finished this next week. Jinty
  21. There are a few Rats here for treatment too!!! Here is one of them, Green, full yellow ends, numbered as 25043, extra overhead warning flashes, blue boiler blanking plate and blue background data panels. Transfers from Railtec and yet to have its sound, '0O00' head codes and snow ploughs fitted. It all looks a bit too shiny as well!!! There is a 25/3 here as well having some transfers done as 25285, which I'll post up some pictures in due course. Jinty
  22. Ok I did promise more today, and here they are.............................. Take one New Dapol 20t Brake Van in Bauxite......................... Remove numbering, add yellow panels, some air pipes and fresh transfers, a bit of grot, and E Viola................. Also was this Dapol Milk tanker in Silver, from a picture showing it had obviously had the top bit cleaned and then plenty of sooty road dirt to follow!!!! Next up is this United Daries Milk tanker., finished as not so grotty, but still some rusty bits showing and a bit of streaking dirt. Lastly is a BR grey Dapol 20t Brake van undergoing conversion to a Railfreight version and air fitted. Hopefully more soon. Jinty
  23. Thanks John, I use AK Interactive panel liner or Modelmates Soot black/Mud Brown weathering liquids, taking the excess away with white spirit on a cotton bud or a make-up sponge deftly theived from the wife's dressing table!!!! Jinty Edited to say: plain tap water is used for removing excess Modelmates fluids
  24. Right, a few wagons have just come off the work bench, with a few more to come a bit later. So a quick photo opportunity has been taken whilst there is no wet stuff falling!!! Firstly a Dapol Insulated van. Then a Daopl 12t Std Vent Van A Dapol SR Brave van in BR grey livery, patch painted with repairs, replaced planks, etc. Then finally for now, a Dapol SR Brake van in BR Bauxite livery with through piping added to one solebar and vac pipes fitted. More soon Jinty
