This photo from Flickr also seems to confirm that ‘74 had a raves tender to withdrawal and scrapping, so if the above photo is 34074 I would suspect it was a short term job.

How confidently 🙃 Date aside, the more learned could correct me if I'm wrong but checking notes and photos it appears that 34074 would be a separate loco and tender job or a re-crest job. I cannot see a late crest wide cab with a full height tender in any Hornby option. Though I am happy to be corrected here.

G’day all With the recent release of the Bachmann DBSO as Network Rail 9702, I’m trying to work out what train/stock would be suitable to run with the RTOVs, both generator (9701/08/14) and non (9702/03). Not being located in the UK, I unfortunately can’t just pop out and take notes, but hopefully others can benefit from this as well. So the question comes-what rakes are the RTOVs typically used as part of? One combination that does seem to crop up in research is 9702/999605 ultrasonic test car/ex-BG generator car, though this doesn’t seem to be a fixed formation. And 9708 was part of SGT1 from 2008-~2013 when that was still running, but is now a normal RTOV. Any other notes/consists would be of interest. Typical rakes, or even the more unusual ones.

Cheers. I will admit from what I can find the "lining" on GT3 is actually moulding (real and model), so whilst I could remove it, a touch harder for KR to do. This is why I did the 2 versions in the end. It was hard to get the 'mid line' strip to look right so I lowered it down to follow the top of the battery boxes. I did go for a plain black as per Fig.1, but it ended up as Fig.2

That's a very pre-1986 or as recent as 15 years ago attitude.... There has been a lot of money spent on things that aren't "Just another locomotive", and I don't mean other exhibits being acquired. Preventative maintenance. Earthworks. Many other things that are not listed to John and Jane Public. The conditions that Dorrigo is being forced to meet by the council are not new. It seems to have been an issue from the tooling from the newer, non Sandra Kan factory. R3443 seems to suffer about 50/50 and the level varies, but from memory the 2015 or so release of Book Law seemed to suffer this and a few other issues. So it's a potential for it to be either issue you've mentioned or both.
