I don't write much on the forums and am primarily an observer of general goings on but I have one question regarding the Class 17 that will ultimately decide if I get one or not... (I hope you provide the right answer as having seen the CADs, I really want one). Will the motors being used be of Dapol design/sourcing or closer to the Farish mechanism? The reason I am asking is every Farish model I have is a lot quieter and a lot smoother than Dapol items, both in steam and diesel. I know this might not be the case for everyone but I would still be interested to know, that is if you are able to even disclose that information. I have to add that I am highly impressed in you going solo on this venture and I wish you all the best with DJModels.

I too saw this chat window the other day and thought to give it a go. I had recently sent back an item due to it being faulty and was very quickly involved in a very pleasant conversation with a very helpful sales advisor who gave me more than enough detail on how that was progressing. I'm a big fan of the 'chat' element, saves me waiting on hold and gives a much faster response than sending an email (a direct response). Good use of current technologies available and anything that can further improve what is already stellar customer service has to be a good thing. Bravo Hattons!

Do the new DCC fitted locos also come with blanking chips so they can run on DC? I'v noticed on various online stores that for certain Dapol DCC fitted locos (including the 'Western') you get a DCC chip for what works out to be less than £10. Seems quite a bargain, however I am not yet set up to run on DCC but intend on doing so in the future.

Amazing work! Do you seal these with any form of matte varnish? If not, are the weathering powders susceptible to being smeared/removed/ruined by fingers and thumbs handling them?

Pretty sure there is a steam special that passes through every Sunday morning at around 11am. Might be worth double checking that though, last time I was down on holiday there we saw a Castle flying through and apparently there was an A4 the other week.
