Bishop's Castle Railway. Almost its entire life spent in receivership.

Am I right that you can pay people using your PayPal balance, without incurring those fees? Maybe he discovered too late that the factory wouldn't accept PP for work done. Goodness knows why he didn't start the whole thing with a proper business account and secure payment online though, instead of coming to the idea far too late (well, it seems that way).

If only Julia was still on RMWeb to put the record straight.

As an aside, regarding the "Dave has mortgaged his house" claim. (Bold text is added to quotes from DJM subforum below.) "The OO gauge J94 has all my money ploughed into it from my house (putting my money where my big mouth is)" (DJ, 8 Sept 2013) "I'll lose my house (literally) if that scenario came about" (DJ, 17 Nov 2013) "Soon after my leaving [Dapol], I decided that my path for the future was clear to me and started DJModels. With this announcement came the realisation that a great deal of capital was needed and as such, owning a house and living in another, I capitalised on this and sold the property to allow my dream to become reality." (DJ, 22 July 2015) "...those that have an axe invariably never have the sphericals to put their house on the line and do it themselves, and merely comment from the safe sideline. There are words for that type of person." (DJ, 16 Sept 2016) At the risk of being that type of person, has the house been remortgaged or sold? Is the third one the real truth - it seems a quite complicated and specific story to spin if it isn't, when previously Dave had been happy for everyone to assume he'd lose his house if the business failed. (Of course, maybe it's more complicated: one was sold and the other remortgaged. But Dave doesn't say that.) I noticed from searching for house on the DJ subforum, that after the first claim of "money ... from my house" (see above, 8 Sept 2013), everyone leapt in with variations of he put his house on the line for us. This then morphed into the popular idea that he had remortgaged it. Dave has never written "mortgage" or "remortgage" on his subforum. Incidentally, Dave saying he had put his "house on the line" follows about three years of some RMWebbers using that phrase. So, in conclusion, maybe we don't have to be fearful that he will lose his house? ... or at least, lets wait to see what the accountants come up with, in case it is a fiction that we created? It's been a stick to berate critics with since 2013, I think it's about time it was put to one side.

That depends how the money was invested in the company? It is a limited company so he would only be liable to what he had invested or guaranteed to the company. If the house wasn't collateral for the company or Dave hadn't taken money out of the company other than as a salary, I think he would only find his house at risk if he or partner were unable to keep paying the mortgage. At least, I hope that is the case.

And then go on to make veiled accusations at people who can't respond, such as: Rather typical of Dave's recent communication style: accept some responsibility for the situation but make sure everyone knows you did your best but were pulled down by everyone else's perfidy.

He did say this, and it was repeatedly used on here to silence critics. But it depends what everyone thinks his house is worth. According to Zoopla the house is worth around £100k. Still not what crowdfunders may have risked on the company.

I sent an email seeking clarification to Dave's business inbox in the morning of the 4th. I've had no answer. Here, I believe Phil Parker has had communication with the insolvency company. On the N gauge forum, "Snowwolflair" contacted and had a reply from the insolvency company, and apparently follow up messages.

    It's already been answered.

    It's CG&Co, at Greg's Building. There's nobody called C.Gregg :-)

    These contradict each other.
  12. Following that announcement, has anyone here asked for their money back?
  13. Embarrassing 'mansplaining' posts could also be avoided by reading prior pages on this thread
  14. Putting a name and maybe the business address in the signature in every posting would be a good step for me. To find out KR means Keith Revell you have to go to the website (which has a.co.uk address by the way despite not being resident in the UK) and click along to About Us. It's not trying to be mean, it's simply trying to find out I might be dealing with.
  15. Dave got the 3D print done over here - somewhere there is a post from him about looking for someone to do it.
  16. Everyone's thinking about theft and ownership; I looked at the address and thought maybe this chap helped Dave out with his smaller 3D prints, and this was part payment. Nothing dodgy at all?
  17. Maybe "the announcement" was not aimed at who we thought it was aimed at ...?
  18. And three switches on the underside of the fuel tanks. Does the Hornby one have those? And the bumps for the gears under the bogies. They certainly aren't from "reverse engineering from the real thing".
  19. Adrian on Model Rail Forum mentions the door and window issue: "These doors are interchangeable with other stock which shows up markedly on the later Bulleid coaches which had deeper non-door windows than either type of "Shorty"."
  20. But that's not the same type of coach
  21. Elsewhere on the internet (Model Rail Forum) there is a posting from Adrian Swain, who has confirmed with Mike King that the corridor side windows were slightly shallower after the beading was added.
  22. So running with that idea, this means that whilst he was in China, he presumably found out nothing that he felt his crowdfunders would be interested in. Quite an expensive trip to deliver nothing of note. Fingers crossed that isn't the case - hopefully, as I write this, he is drafting out updates for all the models, to be sent out later this week.
  23. From a personal credibility point of view, it would help if your real name was in the signature of every posting.
  24. No idea, sorry. I wasn't defending the issue, other than to point out it wasn't covered by GDPR back then.
