  1. The NR 73/9s are mainly used for infrastructure monitoring trains around the Merseyrail area, with the GBRf locos primarily used for the Southern Region runs. The Colas crews generally sign both, however, and they do occasionally swap over.
  2. 37421 and 37099 would be a perfectly acceptable combo for MENTOR. As would including the upcoming Bachmann model of 37025 ‘Inverness TMD’. All three are part of the Colas pool for infrastructure monitoring trains.
  3. Hi, Does anyone know of a source of 4mm scale etched nameplates for the Colas Rail class 67 duo, 67023 'Stella' and 67027 'Charlotte'? Having just received the Hornby model of 67027 (R3659), I noted that the printed plates on the ribbed bodysides do look a bit naff, and in any case I'd like to get another one at some point to rename/renumber to 67023 to complete the set. Thanks in advance!
  4. MENTOR currently runs in the PLPR1 test train formation. The usual formation is 975091 'MENTOR', 72631 'PLPR1', 977983 'RSC3' and a brake force runner. The brake runner can be a Mk2 BSO (usually one of 9481, 9516 or 9523), a Mk1 BG generator van, one of the Colas/NR branded ex-First Great Western motorail vans, or in exceptional circumstances a Mk2 DBSO. On occasion the brake runner might be omitted, but this is a rare occurence because it means the train has to run at reduced speed due to the reduced brake force. The PLPR1 train would usually be top-and-tailed even if a DBSO was in the formation. Usual haulage is 37s, Colas (or rarely hire-in DB) 67s and Network Rail/LORAM or GBRf class 73/9s. For a brief period (2015-16) the PLPR trains occasionally ran with top-and-tail DRS class 68s. (PLPR - Plain Line Pattern Recognition; RSC - Radio Survey Coach).
  5. Network Rail's ex-Hastings DEMU inspection car 975025 'Caroline' has full blue star multiple working, so the propelling loco can be controlled from the carriage.
  6. According to Kernow's Facebook page the next batch of USA tanks are with them now. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1193715084003370&id=207521425956079

  8. The answer to that would seem to be apparent..
  9. Although they do have the War Department numbers applied. I would surmise that this was before they were repainted blue.
  10. Thanks for the reply, some very interesting information. I had a vague idea that 30064 might have found it's way onto LMR metals but wasn't sure.
  11. Evening all, I'm trying to gather a list of the preserved locos which gathered at the Longmoor Military Railway in the late '60s. So far I've got: BR 9F 92203 'Black Prince' BR 4MT 75029 'The Green Knight' SR MN 35028 'Clan Line' SR WC 34023 'Blackmore Vale' BR Ivatt 2MT 41298 And possibly a little Andrew Barclay of some description? Any further info anyone has would be much appreciated.
  12. To be fair to Hornby all the above are marketed/priced as cheaper alternatives to the Bachmann/Heljan 'super detail' models. The Deltic has only ever been for the 'Railroad' discount range, with the 47 being there as well for the last couple of years.
