  1. It appears that all the DCC Sound versions are completely sold out at all retailers, unless anyone knows any different? 😢
  2. Thank you McC for the fast reply, additionally, can you tell me if they should be self tapping or machine (flat bottomed) screws. Additionally, should all 4 mounting points be used, as I’ve seen photos of the inside of sound fitted version, where only 2 screws are in position, at the cab end of the speaker. Many Thanks
  3. I have a non sound version of the Locomotion Models / Rails KOYLI. I bought the sound decoder from Accurascale, but only wanting to remove the body once with all those chain issues, I have waited for the Speaker, crew and speaker clips to come in to stock. All the parts turned up yesterday, but of course, no screws supplied with the speaker clips! A lack of joined up thinking, so does anybody know the size and length of the screws required. Presumably they are an M size, E.g. M1, M2 etc and then the length of shaft. Many Thanks
  4. I just grabbed a TPE Pack 1, appears to be all sold out now! Wow, that was quick!
  5. I was able to examine and test some of the revised tooling GWR Castle set power cars in our local shop yesterday. Both the power and dummy cars come with working motorised fans, which operated on DC, cab doors no longer open, 21Pin DCC sockets and the roof fans are a DCC function, explained in the new style colour instructions. Temped, but there were a couple of quality issues on the dummy power car, the fan appeared to be slightly off centre and clicking as if catching on something, might be easily resolvable with the body off, and two minor paint imperfections. Etched nameplates are provided for both power cars, but no etched silver GWR plates, which I think were present on earlier versions. No sign of the matching sliding door MK3s yet though….
  6. TMC Black Sale ending today at midnight The cheapest price I have ever seen for a new tooling Bachmann Class 47 at £143.98, arguably a very nice livery too, with the white wheel rims and painted bogie detail. Yes, one is on its way to me! https://www.themodelcentre.com/35-419
  7. Yes, but the big deal for me is my order for one at £165 has still not been fulfilled, and I suspect that it never will be. And I know that applies to others on here as well.
  8. Still waiting for any response from DPS since July 1st, so have given up on receiving Alycidon now. I did get KOYLI from Locomotion though, so have one Deltic. I paid DPS by PayPal too, but have checked my PayPal account and DPS have not processed the payment, so no money has left my account.
  9. Kernow have just restocked the Hornby R4534E BR Push Pull coach packs at £49.99 plus p&p https://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/56094/R4534E-Hornby-BR-Pull-Push-Coach-Pack-Set-number-601 I think it’s fair to say we are not going to see these at this price again once sold out.
  10. 10 available - KOYLI with full yellow ends in stock at NRM Locomotion Models as I update this…
  11. Same here, I placed an order on July 1st using PayPal pay in 3. The order went through, but the on screen order number given was 0 ? It said I would receive an email confirmation, but not so far, and like you no response to a subsequent email enquiry. I can understand that they may be swamped, but a quick email to say that, or a sorry we over sold, would not go amiss. I do have one Accurascale Deltic, 55 002 KOYLI from the NRM, all fine apart from one chain off, which seems to be as good as it gets.
  12. It seems many, if not all, of the PC2s in this second run have been fitted with 2 windscreen wipers. The instructions jokingly say to pull one off, but which one and will it leave a hole? Small quality issue to report upon unboxing mine. PC1’s power bogie has the green cover missing on the underside leaving alll the gears exposed. Not in the box, so I’ll give Rapido a call. Part no. 12 on the exploded diagram. Probably worth unboxing to double check everything is as it should be, if like me you do not have anywhere to run it yet.
  13. I don’t think running in takes that long, I usually find 30 minutes in each direction ample?
  14. I’ve just bought the GWR 150 Chocolate and Cream 121. I have a transfer sheet for Head codes, but no destination blind transfers, has anybody else purchased this version and if so, what transfers were in the box please? Many Thanks Ashley
  15. I would like to change the suppressors in 3 APT NDMs, one mine and two for friends. Having thought about it, we would prefer to replace the part with a higher quality one, rather than just remove the component completely. So, it seems I will be setting up a small production line of NDMs! So, is there a definitive spec for what should be fitted and a decent source for such components, such as CPC or Rapid? I am wondering if going for a higher than 100 volt rating would be wise, but how much higher? Many Thanks
  16. Apologies if this has already been answered, but I am looking to add a coach pack to my 7 car train pack. Is the information given in the Hornby 2020 catalogue correct, that the A version of each coach pack is matched to the R3874 7 car train pack? I am thinking about the TRBS pack, so wanted to check that I need the R40012A pacck to match my R3874 train pack? Many Thanks
  17. Hornby could gain some goodwill here by producing an upgrade kit consisting of all the parts necessary to motorise the dummy power car from the 7 car train pack. If this was sold at a reasonable price, surely sub £80 , I think there would be a lot of interest. wasn’t the R3948 single NDM liveried to match the 5 car train pack anyway, necessitating a body swap? To redress the balance, I received my 7 car train pack yesterday, and so far it is faultless. No damage to pantographs or bogies etc. Faultless livery application, I love some of the details such as the etched grills on the NDMs and driving trailers. I was initially going to pass and live with my 1982 version, but I saw a friend’s new 7 car train pack over the weekend and I opened my wallet! Expensive, yes. Annoyed at the second 10% price hike, yes. But there are many 4 car EMUs around the £400 mark now from a certain blue box manufacturer, so 7 cars for a little over £500…..mmmm.
  18. Rails of Sheffield Flash Good Friday Sale A selection of Heljan Class 07 Shunters at just £89.50 https://railsofsheffield.com/groups/3389/class-07-shunters Only until midnight tonight Best Regards Ashley
  19. Two bargain Hornby TTS sound decoders at Colletts Models, R8115 Merchant Navy and R8121 Class 66 both at £24.99 https://www.collettsmodelshop.co.uk/product/Hornby-r8115-tts-dcc-sound-decoder-8-pin-plug-merchant-navy-4-6-2-steam-locomotive/ https://www.collettsmodelshop.co.uk/product/Hornby-r8121-tts-dcc-sound-decoder-8-pin-plug-class-66-diesel/ 25 of the R8115 and 61 R8121 in stock as I post this.
  20. My R3632 35024 is due to arrive tomorrow from Derails. I was one of the lucky 8 that responded in time to their newsletter notifying that they had a few available. So I thought I would look around for an R8115 TTS sound decoder, I only thought about this after I had placed my order, as Derails did have some in stock. However, this morning I found that Colletts Models are doing the R8115 for an incredible £24.99, so I’ve just ordered, along with an R8121 Class 66 decoder for the same price. The lowest prices I have ever seen for TTS decoders. I suspect, now that the second coming of the Merchant Navy is upon us, these R8115s will vanish pretty quickly. In my opinion the whistles are the best feature of this sound chip, the chuffs are a bit suspect...but for the money and with a speaker upgrade....
  21. The cheap Class 60s appear to have gone for now, but as with everything on Amazon, the more people that look or buy, the higher the price goes. However, I’ve just ordered these two items, R3412 BR Early Crest S15 for £82.69 with free delivery, as cheap as I can find anywhere when you take postage into account, plus you can pay in 5 instalments if you wish, which makes it a pocket money purchase for a decent 4-6-0 locomotive. https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01L4H31OO/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Also, for those Southern region modellers, a rather cheap Maunsell at £20.84 as I type, 2p less than I paid 5 minutes ago https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B078YVB6L3/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 The links are for Amazon Smile, you can nominate a charity and Amazon make a small donation fir all eligible purchases. The S15 does appear to be from the batch that has dodgy motors, so it will be worth running the model while still under warranty , so you can get the motor replaced if necessary. Maybe Hornby have done this on latest ones?
  22. Many thanks for the links, I managed to purchase the last one of Achilles earlier this morning. I was caught napping on these, I hadn’t realised they were released, until I saw this thread reporting that they are virtually sold out already. Part of my plan to go with an Accurascale Mk5 set, so very grateful to have found one. There seem to be plenty of other TPE Class 68s that Dapol could produce, hopefully the fast sell out will give them confidence for another batch.
  23. Just to say the R40141 coaches are back in stock on Hornby.com. I have just managed to place an order anyway, and to think I was almost tempted to try Olivias, I say almost....
  24. Just tried the OCT10 discount code at 365 games, but it tells me it has expired. In the spirit of the thread, Kernow have some very good bargains at the moment one noticeable one being a Hornby DB Schenker Class 67 http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/56211/R3574-Hornby-Class-67-Diesel-Locomotive-number-67-013
  25. Hattons have a nice selection of O gauge bargains. Highlights include Dapol Sentinels at £130, Heljan Class 128s from £220 and Heljan Class 50s, including limited editions, at £525. https://www.hattons.co.uk/newsdetail.aspx?id=863
