  1. I hope the grain pattern on the wood is realistic lol 😀
  2. Apologies if this has been posted before but I thought it relevant to this thread. 😀
  3. Is it permitted to name and shame the manufacturers of unrealistic models? 😁
  4. Or maybe your trains are unrealistically big 😁
  5. In oo I use 10" per coach plus 12" for loco. For a loco and four coaches this works out at 52". Just a rule of thumb which works for me.
  6. A small scene on the prototype can be the inspiration to model that scene somewhere on my layout. I could be equally inspired by a scene on someone else's layout.
  7. Sadly, I think you might be right. IRM coaches with Murphy Models loco. The prototype.
  8. So who is going to build a model railway the same as Minature Wunderland? 😁
  9. Here is a photo of my IRM NIR Mk2 coaches with a Murphy Models NIR GM No 111. The blue on the coaches is much darker than on the locomotive. I remember the prototype as all being the same colour as in this photograph taken at Belfast Central. February 1981 So; who has got the colour correct? IRM, Murphy Models or neither?
  10. From the Rails website: So, who is "the manufacturer"?
  11. The convex bumps on one coach match into the concave bumps on the next coach, helping to maintain corridor alignment for passenger comfort.
  12. So Hattons buys Model TrainStuff and Rails of Sheffield buys Hattons, would that make it Rails of Hatts 'n Stuff? 😀
  13. But if you do that, then the warranty will no longer include the flushing. 😁
  14. Nice gesture Hattons. https://bala-lake-railway.co.uk/hattons-model-railways-closing-down-sale/
  15. Very intetesting article, but I have to confess that I thought the thread title was a typo for "changing trains"!
  16. I just phone the surgery and make an appointment. Old technology but it works!
  17. This flight had a stop over at Reykjavík and AFAIK was thus the first (and only) mainline locomotive in Iceland.
  18. Ever wonder why the Dapol Terriers sold out so fast? Now's your chance.
  19. A bin man is driving along a street picking up the wheelie bins and emptying them into his rubbish truck. He goes to one house where the bin hasn't been left out. In the spirit of kindness and after having a quick look about for the bin, he gets out of his truck, goes to the front door and knocks. There's no answer. Being a conscientious bloke, he knocks again - much harder. Eventually, a man comes to the door. "Hello" says the man. "Hi mate, where's ya' bin?" asks the bin man. "I bin on toilet," explains the man, a bit perplexed. Realising the fellow had misunderstood him, the bin man smiles and tries again. "No mate, where's ya' dust bin?" "I dust bin to toilet, I told you!'' says the man, still perplexed. "Listen," says the garbage collector. "You're misunderstanding me. I mean, where's ya' wheelie bin?'" "OK, OK. " replies the man with a sheepish grin, and whispers in the collector's ear. "I wheelie bin in bed with the woman from next door!"
