  1. Oops, missed that, too much Guinness . Sorry
  2. Hi Might be worth contacting the chap, think his name is Dave, who owns the company. He’s very helpful.
  3. But you are not in full possession of all the facts. Just because you work in IT does not mean that you are an expert in this field. Its basic economics, supply and demand. If they weren’t selling at this price they would be cheaper or not sold at all!
  4. But 30 mph can kill a child.......this is my personal experience.
  5. Hi Mike Thank you for this information, much appreciated. I’ll do a little bit of research into the Dremel router attachment. Cheers Alan
  6. Hi I’ve just discovered this thread and have enjoyed reading through your thoughts. I particularly liked the pics of the cut outs you have made for your magnets and servos. Can I ask what tools/techniques you used to get such neat cut outs? Many thanks Alan
  7. Hi, can someone explain the difference between “outers” and “inners”? Thanks
  8. Absolutely - and there is also the Model Railway mags and YouTube to spread the word too.

  11. I’m pretty sure that they said they would check it. I’m also certain that they would have taken my current loco back too but as you’ll see from my original post I was fed up with the time spent phoning and going to the post office. Again I can’t fault their overall complaints procedure or friendliness it just would have been nice for it to have been third time lucky and have a working model!
  12. Hi, Rails have been very good with the returns and I’ve certainly no complaints around this aspect of their service. My disappointment was merely surrounding the fact that this was the 2nd replacement and I’m sure that they said they were going to check the loco prior to dispatch. My wife was already feeling bad about the fact that the first 2 hadn’t worked as it was a Christmas present so you can imagine her thoughts when the 3rd one had similar issues.
  13. Hi, thanks for the heads up. I’ll have a look at this shop for future purchases.
  14. Agreed, but this was the third loco they had sent so if I had been in their shoes so to speak I might have been inclined to do a check.
  15. I think you have missed the point. This was the third loco that they had sent me after the first 2 had issues and were sent back. Of course I don’t expect them to check every loco that they send but given that this was the third one I suspect that there may have been cause for them to investigate and take appropriate measures ie check as they alluded to during my call to them. Secondly, these are weathered “in-house” (and to a good standard I may add) but I suspect that this is potentially where the issues with the lights may arise. So Mr Royaloak please get your facts right!
  16. Well, with a bit of perseverance and a lot of patience I finally got the body off and a decoder installed. Lights are working (except for the cab) and she is a lovely runner. Pity about Bachmann’s rather poor design for getting power to the lights on their 37s. In the interest of fairness I should say that Rails were very good at replacing the faulty locos that I had contacted them about and as I said above if they had checked the last one they had sent then I would have been most grateful and much (precious modelling) time would have been saved.
  17. Thanks Rob, my son and I have had a good look and the head is definitely out of shape and I can’t get any purchase on it to remove it. I should have just sent the thing back (again). Such a shame as it is a nice loco and the weathering is good too.
  18. Major disappointment I’m afraid. Wife bought me Class 37 Concrete Bob weathered for Christmas and to cut a long story short I’m now on my third loco. Put it on the track to find the same issues - lights not working again, flickering and at one end no cab light at all. So frustrated that they did not check this before it left the premises. Given that I’ve already wasted so much time phoning and going to the post offfice I tried opening it up to have a look myself (I know, I know). The lights seem to rely on little prongs to make connection from the led circuit to the chassis for power. They are plainly not connecting properly. So I tweeked the prongs and managed to get the front and rear working (still no cab light at one end) although there was still some flickers on the rear lights ( on the front end) as the loco went forward - but it was better than before. I thought stuff it I’ll live with that and so went to put a decoder in - fan bl%&#£y tastic now a screw has lost its head some how and I can’t get the body off. I’m as well chucking the heap of junk in the bin. Sorry for the rant but at £150 this shouldn’t be happening.

  20. Thanks, I’ll register for the free 2 month trial. I noticed that I was limited to only 3 locomotives. Cheers Alan
  21. Hi James/Iain I’m in. The warning that comes up when redirected to the Java website from the Itrain installer relates to the JavaScript as you suggested James. What wasn’t clear in the warning message was that you still have the ability to download the “run time engine” regardless of the issue with JavaScript and at the time I didn’t really fully appreciate the difference - clearly I have a handle on it now Thank you both for your prompt feedback - most appreciated. Cheers Alan
  22. Hi James Thanks for highlighting the difference. Whilst I use computer software programmes a lot I haven’t a great deal of knowledge about web operations and operating platforms etc etc When I go to install Itrain the software redirects me to the Java website and that’s when I get the browser message. I’ll try again. Alan
