  1. I have just looked at the Fine Scale Figures site, and it has a banner stating that the Shop will be "Closing down" on August 29th. Using a supplied code there is a 30% discount on all orders. Does this mean they are following the same road as Hardy's Hobbies?
  2. Ferrari in turmoil as Carlos Sainz 'signs pre-contract' with another F1 team - Sauber/Audi.
  3. Back in the day there were rumours that Deltic also helped remodel the edge of a platform at Finsbury Park?
  4. I think the Hamilton penalty was very harsh. F1 is becoming very "namby-pamby" with drivers regularly radioing in "he hit me" - "touched" would be a better description. Imagine in the heats of a 1500m athletics race, you reach the final, but get told you will start ten seconds after the rest because you clipped the heel of the guy in front on the second lap of the heat - it wouldn't happen. The drivers would never admit to it, but if they can create a time penalty for someone, their on the radio straightaway. It was never like this years ago.
  5. Hi Al - I just bought the Class 08 lighting kit from Jason - was it an easy fit? BB
  6. As a long standing Hornby Club member, I have just received the Summer issue of The Collector in which there is a one page article on the forthcoming BR 2MT's. It says: "At the time of going to press, the container carrying the first of these models had left China and was expected to arrive in the UK at the end of August. It will take a further couple of weeks before supplies can be distributed to the retail trade". It goes on to say "The first to arrive will be Cat.Nos. R3836 and R3838, closely followed by the rest approximately a fortnight later. The sixth model - a Club Exclusive No.78022 (R3837) should be here in September. Interestingly it says with regards the "Club" model, details of this and how to order will be circulated to members shortly. Some may recall, that following announcement this model disappeared from the Hornby site. Luckily in my case, I ordered it on announcement, and have the confirmatory email, and it is listed in my pre-orders - the initial price to Club Members was £149.99 - I wonder what it will be now?
  7. Set 967 - albeit straight out of the box. About the be attached to N Class 31404. Still to be fitted with Kadees and closer coupling between coaches.
  8. I found mine on ebay - the seller being AC Models in Eastleigh. I think it said nine available. Being ebay I could make an offer - I paid £45 with free P&P. That's a lot more that the Kernow coaches, but I ended up paying less than I could find R4886B anywhere else. He still has eight as of 11.30pm.
  9. AC Models in Eastleigh still had a number of new R4886B Bulleid Composite Corridor coaches, so it looks as though Set 967 will be a complete 3-car set very soon.
  10. Thanks for the heads-up - have just ordered a pair making Set 967. Already have three-car Sets 968 and 972
  11. Just received an email from Key Model World, which included an item saying the first "production" models of the BR Standard 2MT had arrived at Hornby for distribution in the Summer - so hopefully not long now?
  12. What do you think the price will be by Winter 2024/25?
  13. I am using a DCC Concepts ABC Module - and together with my iPhone and an 8pin TXS decoder in a Hornby Class 08, I found that by altering CV126 in time stages it works. I started with ten seconds, moved up to thirty, and it is now on sixty seconds. Have yet to try four minutes, but it certainly works ok for me.
  14. I read this on their site today - not sure how long it has been there? Sad news: Hardy’s Hobbies is winding down a bit sooner than I had planned due to unforeseen circumstances. I am no longer able to print new items but have well stocked all OO and most O gauge figures, crews and packs. Once it is gone it is gone. I do however have at time of writing 3 Ring Haw’s, 1 Plain Green and 1 Plain Blue 16″ Hunslets produced by Rapido Trains UK. Grab them while you can.
  15. F1 makes major TV change for Monaco GP with Sky Sports viewers likely to spot difference F1 fans will get their next fix of racing action in Monaco next weekend, and those watching the action on television might notice some changes to what they're used to from this race. It means, for the next three years starting with next weekend's race, TV coverage of the Monaco Grand Prix will be produced by F1 themselves, rather than Tele Monte Carlo. The move will have no effect on which channels will carry the feed, with Sky Sports still the UK broadcaster for live action.
  16. The only colour picture I can find of 46220 in Blue livery, is in the painting by Artist Malcolm Root FGRA. When mine arrives I think it will get black plates - the red on the Hornby model seems to jump out at you.
  17. The item I read said that the black replica nameplate displayed at the NRM was made of wood! Why, on the rather ornate red plate displayed in a previous post say "5000th engine built at the Locomotive Works Crewe - June 1911"? 46220 was build in 1937.
  18. Did 46220 have red nameplates?? There is a very good painting showing the loco in blue livery (1950-52) pulling the Royal Scot and the plates are most definitely black. A replica nameplate that was displayed at the NRM for some years was also black. I was told Scottish shedded Coronations had red plates?
  19. If you take out the cost of the 21pin TXS sound decoder (£69.99), the loco is actually good value for the money - not many Class 66's in any livery for £60.00.
  20. I did not know that Hornby TXS decoders came with Magnadhesion😅 The J27 looks good - a neat installation - room for a power pack?
  21. Image is wrong on the website, it's being changed. It'll have a P9100 and a HM7020 adapter. Same with the TT Flying Scotsman TXS set.
  22. Trouble with Sam is that he does not always (??) do his homework before reviewing whatever. There were several situations in his review which would not have happened had he done his homework. Yet despite a fairly positive summary at the end, many of the comments were along the lines of "Fantastic review - will not be wasting my money on this system". So if you review on a public forum, you need to get it right.
  23. It was ok - one or two little snippets of information. As already said Android app is still a few weeks away - why? It was explained that Apple have about thirty devices that can be used to operate HM7000 - and one must assume all have been tested. It was said there were "thousands" of Android devices - all of which would have to be tested as problems arose - which meant Hornby then had to get hold of that particular device to check it out. So not always the two minute job that most assume it is. The late start was really inexcusable - if you are going to go live to what could have been a world-wide audience, you don't start late - you are ready to go - on the dot.
  24. The decoder is upside down - black strip should be on top - I made that mistake🤫
