  1. Look forward to seeing the results of clear prints, the other method I want to try is using microscope glass, making a slot inside to hold it in place.
  2. I believe one other pair of E40's was used on the Falmouth branch, generally with a U29 sandwiched between them. I have a 3d designs started, but need to find time to finish them and get them printed.
  3. I have used AK-Interactive true metal for a good representation of steel, there other metal paints such as copper gunmetal etc, are excellent. Stephen
  4. I would give it a try using the open one, the sealed bottles should be okay to use.
  5. Duncan have you tried using artists Matte medium diluted 2 parts water to 1 part, it is an excellent glue which stays flexible flows well and dries very clear and matt. Stephen
  6. Thanks for all the replies, it works perfectly. Stephen
  7. Just wondering, is the http://www.gwrcoaches.org.uk/ down at the moment, I get this notification when I try get on, "Please stand by while configuration is in progress."
  8. Plenty of space in Canada but none in my office, three 3d printers a spray booth etc plus the need to exhaust the smoke!!!, I get there eventually. I had found a local company, that could do them for me, some time ago, but they went out of business.
  9. Wow, it captures the atmosphere, without a single piece of rolling stock, very nice. something a lot of people don't know about foam, is that it shrinks as it ages, which could be the cause of the gaps growing. Stephen
  10. Duncan Congratulations, I think you are going to be inundated in the next little while. can I Dm you with some new insight into supports etc. Stephen
  11. I am using the older version, but if i could find one, it would be easy enough to modify for the newer version, it took me a year to find the current because of where I live and the cost of shipping here etc. It could also be done with the dimensions, ie. front to rear length, width, distance from wheel centres etc.
  12. Here it is post support removal. there are quite a few changes needed before printing again, most of them minor, and significant changes to the supports. but overall I am happy with it.
  13. Thanks for the info, I could do that with the support settings when it gets sliced. I do have to put some bracing under the cab area, to meet the chassis block for the Bachmann version, but this is not required for the etched chassis version.
  14. Well, here is my first test print, still on supports and I see some areas that need improvement. more support needed in some areas, some less, and some things have not formed properly. Overall I'm not to unhappy with it, just needs a little more work to make a passable model.
  15. Just a little update on the 1854 saddle tank, made some more progress and some revisions to the dome and safety valve cover. Hope to do a test print this weekend and check the fit on the Bachmann chassis.
  16. My vote is for the all brown livery. 👍
  17. And no front step or higher handrail on the 1873. It is a minefield of differences. Does anyone make the early style lamp holder/front handrail bracket, it will be very fragile in resin.
  18. Thanks Bill, this was the problem. Rails were added.
  19. This is the main picture I am using, from page 99 of the locos book, which shows the front step. I was not aware of that. see picture There is still a lot of little details still to add, and more I dig the more I find, plus the helpful tips I get here.
  20. I am having an issue with lofting in Fusion 360, and wonder if anybody has come across this before, I have drawn and formed the chimney, dome and safety valve cover and the lofting tool worked just fine, but now trying again with the water tank filler and it keeps giving me error codes before I even highlight the rails. here a screenshot of what i am getting.
  21. Took another look at the top boiler fittings and redrew them, a little happier with them now, they have better proportions, when compared with the Pictures I have. I shouldn't have gone by the drawings, which seem to be oversized, in comparison. That's why more than one pair of eyes is better. Thanks Stephen
  22. I'm wanting to get a laser cutter, for buildings etc, because the results are amazing, but have no where to put it at the moment.
  23. From the pictures I have I'm not sure where that pipe comes from, and it needs to be added, this is just a progress, so more than one set of eyes is always helpful, because it is easy to miss things. Things like toolboxes and sandboxes are individual drawings, just had the body turned off when I did the image. I'm not yet 100% happy with the dome or safety valve drawings, but when printed they seem to look a lot better, we will see when I do a test print. Yes I use the fillet tool in Fusion for this. Stephen
  24. It is an 1854/1701, I didn't notice the sandbox body was turned off when I captured the image, which is why it is missing. All the individual items are drawn as components, and saved separately so they can be used on future projects, this way I don't have to draw them again. The reason for the solid footplate is that there will be 2 options, 1 to fit the Bachmann 57xx chassis, and another for the High Level chassis kit. For the Cab arrangement I have been using the S4 boiler, from a Dean goods as a reference, but would prefer a saddle tank picture . Stephen
