  1. May you be able to get white metal body castings from Dave Alexander?
  2. Try Mr Muscle oven cleaner, spray onto model and place overnight in a plastic sandwich bag to keep it from drying.
  3. I've seen that sequence on one of my B+R videos too, not sure which one though. Edit below. Sorry, made a mistake, it's Vol 6 from the Steam World Archive series, highlights a 9F hauled oil train on the Lickey banked by 4 Pannier tanks.
  4. Chris I should have added that I did this but can't link to the pic. Have a look at the last entry in my gallery on here with this 00 gauge Cometmodels kit as a commission for a rebuilt Scot. Finished with a coat of satin varnish. Fixed link now, pic below. Cheers Steve https://imgur.com/I77m7FZ
  5. What about spraying it over black etch primer like Clostermanns rather than the grey it recommends, which, of course is for colour matching to a vehicle? Just a thought. See my next post.
  6. Morning. Is the black 5 in J5492 not 45407? Has plain coupling rods. 44781 had fluted. cheers
  7. Afternoon Please may I also express interest in a purchase if, as and when, this becomes available? Cheers
  8. Hold on! What about this set of sheets from Fox. Red/grey with no visible spacing, curves and corners with red on inside and outside and lots of straights. The two sheets come as a set. Top sheet may be available seperately as it has it's own number, which is: FRH 4075/1. HTH Cheers
  9. Tadah! Any good? Pic shows around 1/3rd of sheet. Remainder is straight lining. HTH
  10. Pressfix sheet 22 may help you. Ok, it's red/grey with a gap but the sheet carries corners, curves with red on outside as well as inside.Plenty of straights for you to make your own panels with red on the outside. HTH cheers
  11. Used to watch D400's on the WCML double heading expresses in the 70's @ Hestbank
  12. Hmmm, I also have a sheet of their standard late tender crests that scale at 5 feet! Unused, of course.
  13. I have the same sheet and the bulk of the numbers work out at 10" so yes for some Scottish numbers, also some applied by Darlington too, I think. The three rows to the bottom left corner are nearer the standard 8" numerals. HTH
  14. Mr Muscle foaming oven cleaner works for me and hasn't damaged any plastic yet.
  15. Chaps, Looking for Heljan sprue that contains the bogie sides for Western. Full sprue or just two bogie sides will suffice. cheers
  16. Mornin' All I am a professional model maker and 46208 was built and painted by me, very specifically in that condition for the client that posted the pic. I could only find two pics of it in that condition with AWS fitted. It is a hybrid, Hornby detailed loco body, Comet LCP7 chassis kit, Comet TK8 tender kit, Markits wheelsets. There are more pics of it in my gallery along with others. The steps and tender frames are unlined and heavily weathered as in the reference pics and in accordance with my instructions. I hope this clears up any doubts or questions. pics below. 17. Guys, Free, collection within a few days, please, or they go to the tip. 59 x Steam classic magazines. April '90 to Aug'96. Very good for reference photo's. Also some BRM mags. All free, collection only from LA4 postcode. Cheers Steve Haley
  18. Non of the pictures I have of the last lot show flush sided tenders but all may not be lost. As Focalplane said earlier, it may be that the SWD chip has a switchable hooter/whistle. The latest that I got from them, an Ivatt CL2 generic, has a choice of LMS hooter or BR whistle by changing a few CV's. That would save changing the tender and whistle on the model. HTH
  19. Mornin' 42977/81/82/83/84 all appear to have hooters HTH
  20. Afternoon Here's D5718 with extra weathering, new sandpipes and new front end grab-rails Depicting a Heysham Moss / Whitehaven tank train. The Bo end disc is for a Barrow / Lancaster/ Preston stopper. Steve
  21. Mornin' It'll be a BD, side doors as well as the end door. Steve
  22. Mornin, Pics of B55897 B. one of 50 aluminium B boxes made for BR by Park royal, now in use as a store. 23. Mornin' Wondered if anyones seen these before. http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd71/carnforth/D5708_full_ends.jpg http://i227.photobucket.com/albums/dd71/carnforth/D5701_blue_livery-1.jpg
  24. Yep, you're right about red for fitted , white for piped only. I think this may also be linked to the empty XP box seen on a lot of post '64 brake van branding. Was it that only fully fitted brake vans actually had XP in the box, whilst those left empty were piped only?
