  1. Yes, I tried that. It did not work. The loco jumped when accelerating and ran jerking otherwise. Only an automatic calibration of the engine and playing with the BEMF setting in the lower speeds brought something. I suspect that the motor just isn't worth Much and needs some electronic help. Aristoteles
  2. As beautiful as the locomotive is, getting it to run in DCC is a nightmare. Only an ESU Lokpilot 5 brought a satisfactory result after some adjustments. Aristoteles
  3. That would surely work too. But painting corresponds to what Hornby probably didn't quite finish.
  4. Brown like the other interior walls.
  5. Unfortunately, the end of the LNER brake coach is not painted properly and the light shines through. the whole part is made of clear plastic and the light is only blocked by the paint. Two of the coaches had difficulty turning on the lights. But in both cases it was due to the battery contacts. Aristoteles Held
  6. The CV's for dimming the sunlight are even more difficult to find. It is probably still analog.
  7. Is there a way in dcc to dim the fire box flicker higher? It is almost invisible.
  8. A simple kit from Hardy Hobbies. The body of the Manning Wardle H Class 0-4-0 comes almost completely from the printer. Only the roof, sandboxes and the backhead of the boiler have to be glued on. This is practical, because you can still easily place the crew in the narrow cab. The painting, on the other hand, is not so easy, since you do not have any individual assemblies and so you have to paint everything or nothing, or you just have to tape it with difficulty. Hence the rather simple, black color dress of the locomotive. It is also not easy to accommodate the decoder in the locomotive. I took the intended 4-pin decoder from Hornby. If you place it diagonally in the fire box and saw off the lower part of the backhead, for example up to just above the fire door, there is space for it. If there is the crew in front of it, it can hardly be seen and the upper part of the driver's cab remains intact. The signs are from Narrow Planet and bear the name of one of my dogs. A really nice, small locomotive model, I think, with very good driving characteristics, for a two-axle industrial locomotive.
  9. Hello, has anyone already figured out where to place the builders plates, shed code plates and GER area code plates on the various locomotives? This is not always apparent in the photos. I am mainly interested in the 68222, 68225 and LNER 7126. Aristoteles
  10. The vents are easily glued. They are made of brass and can be pulled out without damage.
  11. After I had overcome the first enthusiasm, I became more courageous. a DCC chip was installed and thoroughly tested. A very nice locomotive. However ... after a while she started screaming especially at medium speed. Not so bad, but annoying. So disillusioned fall the last inhibitions. The coal seems to be an extra part. Out with it. The fans must be removed beforehand. The coal is then loose, but still holds on the crankcase of the brake. He broke off, as did the crank. Both, however, can be stuck again. The bottom of the coal box shows rivets and is formed. Two questions. Has anyone noticed this gear crank? And is there already a speaker preinstalled in the tender? Aristoteles
  12. Who disturbs the cranked drive rod ... And has tried to bend this straight. It does not work because it's cast. I tried and they are broken. You can solder together new rods from a rod for the A3 by Alan Gibson. The old rod bearing and the crosshead are reused. The bearing is soldered to the back half and the rod is adjusted in length. The new bar is riveted to the crosshead and adjusted in color. Aristoteles
  13. A little play with color. Air gun, brush and powder. The dust cover covered with a paper handkerchief. Not yet finished. But she looks so already better. Ari
