  1. Looks great, really good resolution. What technique did you use please Twiggy? Cheers, andy
  2. End of the line for 43138... *gets coat
  3. Hello, I caught the sleeper last night, and it was great to see 604 in resplendent full GWR livery. The Old Oak Common RIP badge was so well done, but the whole loco showed the pride and effort of those who maintain these. 605 looked good in new GWR livery and the LONGROCK TMD badge was brilliant. Kernow bys vyken! Sorry, not great photos need to rotate the TMD logos later Andy
  4. Blimey, interesting to see. Looks more like a giant spares yard, with a few carcasses. The liverys are a story in their own right. Thanks for sharing
  5. Sad news indeed. I feel it is time to have a more focused push on reclamation of key features by the whole railway preservation movement. That doesn’t mean silos, each preserves railway doing their thing, but a real national effort. From features such as doors and windows to particular shapes of bricks and other decorative masonry, soon there will be a tricky balance of being authentic or having funds to even start the project. Storage would be an issue, but this may be where a lottery bid comes in, with support of various heritage and lobbying groups? A bit of a rant, but with the demise of signal boxes and other key features, I think there needs to be a concerted effort. Andy
  6. Not surprised. I have seen buses and lorries stuck under this bridge over the years. I saw a double decker, looked like a private hire, going quite fast towards the dell screech to a halt. The passengers on the top deck looked like new trousers were needed.
  7. Thanks for the info. Really interesting, as I have been travelling on the sleeper for years and always look what is topping and tailing at Pad before boarding too. 604 being my favourite. Andy
  8. This should work Nice video Alan, good use of parameters. I use them so often now. Andy Edited for grammar
  9. Falmouth yesterday afternoon. Looking over the site of the old signal box and engine shed, soon to be built over for more expensive flats.
  10. Hello John, It is an engraver, very light milling. It depends what you want to make, and out of what material? Non-ferrous? Milling resin board? I’d get the Taylor Hobson working as that is fantastic quality and will allow you to make most things. If Tony Reynalds uses one, that is good enough for me. Make larger patterns and scale down. Almost as fast as programming toolpaths. Andy
  11. Great! Really good to see. Will you be investment casting any items or direct metal printing (SLS) them? Good luck, Andy
  12. Re data acquisition in software companies such as AutoDesk, as opposed to web companies whose interest is in your marketable data, they are really only interested in you as another beta tester. How has it 'broken'? What hardware are you using? How were you using it? Their interest is in a stable product with great features that has a high market share. Fusion360 is a new model for AutoDesk, that for me works well. As Gerald above wrote, you can opt out of sharing data. Blender can produce some good results. I don't find it that intuitive. SketchUp was revolutionary, but even with the 'plugins' I still find some features frustrating, though it is quick to learn the basics and it is intuitive. Fusion360 allows me to work quickly and accurately. It is now my primary 3D package (used SketchUp, Rhino, solidworks, AutoCAD, 3DSMax for years) I'd look at online videos of tutorial projects for each package to see what looks easiest for you.
  13. I disagree. They are developing it, and would not say it is half baked. Software development is changing and it isn't the world of annual releases, patches, or service packs any more, it is truly organic development and deployment. Having been a beta tester of CAD and 3d software for over 20 years I have plenty of stories of what half baked is. Fusion360 is not. User Centref Design and development is the best way for software to develop and evolve for the markets they have chosen. At the end of the day it is just a tool, that gets a job done. Currently, I prefer Fusion360 to a variety of CAD and CAM software because of the workflow. Expressions are brilliant ATB Andy
  14. Yup, it is different to AutoCAD which is still really a 2D drafting tool, even though it has 3D capabilities. As I am very much a command line user Fusion is slower, but once you switch to the logic I find I can nearly be as fast as in ACAD. Though when it comes to components and assemblies in building a whole model in 3D, with constraints and history, is where it excels.
  15. Yup, been using it for a while. I find it great and the workflow logical. Fantastic support from Autodesk's videos to the Fusion community. Link with CAM really useful, and with sheet metal coming soon it is my favourite 3D software. Andy
  16. An amazing anniversary. Though interesting that the technology hasn't changed radically. There is stil an Argus in the RFA. Regularly docked at Falmouth or Plymouth, it is a fully equipped emergency hospital and often used for training helicopter pilots to land at sea. Though more recently known for humanitarian relief as part of the Ebola crisis.
  17. Impressive for N! Great addition to available limited options for uk vehicles. Would like to see a print from a Form2 or similar new printer as that might save some of the finishing?
  18. Also, it would be good to find a covered site too. Many preservation railways appear to be fundraising for, or looking at, rolling stock sheds. Given the amount of effort required to maintain stock, and perhaps an aging and twinkling, maybe twinkling but Autocorrect changed that from dwindling, workforce with more stringent working at height guidelines, this would be vital for their next home. An HLF bid perhaps? Good luck to them, a worthwhile cause. Andy
  19. Tornado on way to Bodmin passing through Truro tonight. Still from a slow motion film
  20. Hello all, Does anyone know what the two Colas 66's bookending network rail hoppers was doing at Falmouth Docks around 01:30 last night 18/05/17 please? Bleddy loud horn! More than the boy racers or the docks anyway. Thanks, Andy
  21. Fusion360's Expression tools are great. Very good use of them. Wax RP would be good, and make a master to cast others. Andy
  22. Laser or RP would both be fine. Nothing much in it. Laser engraving would give better detail than most low cost RP. Though RP could print the whole unit and you could also print a pit to drop into the baseboard. You could also do this with laser cutting and then glue up the layers. Andy
